DisplayLink display is blank and only shows mouse cursor when using a basic graphics theme
In this use case, the DisplayLink screen is blank and mouse cursor trails are only seen on the DisplayLink display.
This problem is caused by using DisplayLink with a basic mode theme that not compatible with the High performance (AMD GPU).
The recommended work around to this is to use an Aero graphics theme on these PC platforms.
If a basic graphics theme is required, this can be worked around by setting the DisplayLink software to use the Low performance mode. Please follow the steps below to do this:
- Right click on the Windows desktop and Click on "Configure Switchable Graphics"

- Click "High Performance" button next to "displaylinkuseragent.exe" in Recent Applications section.

- If it’s not listed here Click "Browse" in Other Application section and browse to DisplayLink location – default location is: "c:\Program Files\DisplayLink Core Software\DisplayLinkUserAgent.exe" And then click "High Performance" button next to "displaylinkuseragent.exe" to switch it to "Power Saving" value.
- Click “Apply” button

- Reboot the PC to start using the new graphics settings.
