DisplayLink Feature Suggestions

  1. DisplayLink is still not working in MacOS 10.15.1

I was reading all open threads in the forum, and I can see different behaviors. In my case, I cannot use my external monitors, after upgrading my system to Catalina. Beta 3 driver is not working, and when I tried to clean cache system is getting hung after restart.

  3. Fix "WindowServer [ERROR] - Unable to find display pipe for IOFB service: 18715" on MacOS

DisplayLink do not work properly with 4K screens @ MacOS 10.14. It looks laggy, jamming, like FPS drop.
I've described issue in details here: https://displaylink.org/forum/showthread.php?t=66349

We’re aware of this error message and have investigated if there is any underlying problem or performance impact. We don’t believe that there any actual problem here, and this message is not responsible for performance issues reported in this thread.

However we can’t find a way to easily suppress the message. We know this is annoying and would like to stop it appearing so we’re continuing to look at ways to stop it.

  4. Add support for 5120x1440 resolution

There are several monitors on the market with such resolution Dell U4919DW, Philips 499P9H, LG 49WL95C-W and Samsung CRG9. At least for Philips 499P9H I'm not able set this resolution with i-tec device on Ubuntu. https://i-tec.cz/de/produkt/u3dual4kdp-3/

  9. Provide the capacity to color correct monitors with ICC profiles and custom Look Up Tables.

I would like to be able to use my monitor color calibration tool [i1Profiler] to create and used custom ICC profiles for the monitors attached to the Display Link docking station.
There does not seem to be any capability to do this with the current system.

  10. Start supporting Linux on Lenovo's Thinkpad hardware!

Lenovo is selling docking solutions for their Thinkpad laptos. These docks have DisplayLink stickers at the button but none of them is working properly with Linux! Deepin Linux (based on Debian) is massively used in China by IT professionals working with Lenovo's Thinkpad hardware. We want at least dual monitor support working with this hardware. At the moment getting this to work is just a big pain in the a**. :-(((((((((((((

  11. Please make a disclaimer for Video Editors. Thanks!!

usb 3.0 to hdmi on Mac OS 10.14 makes the external monitor image considerably darker. It is unusable for editing as the image is drastically compromised and does not represent the true output.

  12. Retain Windows positions on screen when plugging in dock cable

When i switch between 2 computers using the same dock, all the windows positions are lost and i have to spend time rearranging them back to where i like them (across multiple monitors). I swap pcs regularly during the day and i waste alot of time doing this. If it can retain the windows settings it would be awesome

  13. overcome issue with starting 4K plug and play unit with Windows 10

I note others have issues with the software update for your DisplayLink device as I do but, annoying as it is, there is a workaround that I have to use.
Start your computer, (Mines a Dell Lattitude 3440), and add password to the Windows 10 start screen that appears on the laptop.
The mouse and keyboard connected to the DisplayLink work so you can use them to go to "Restart" and restart your computer.
Most times it will then migrate the screen image to my IPS LED screen.
(The Windows 10 function key system to change monitors does not do…

  15. Support lightning (aka HiDPI) resolutions

On Mac Mojave, Displaylink does not support HiDPI resolutions. These are screen modes that render the desktop at double the size so that fonts become more crisp. For example on my 1440p monitor, there's a 720p HiDPI mode. When I connect the monitor directly to my mac, this mode can be selected. When I connect via my Dell D6000, nothing happens when selecting this mode.

You can use the following open source application to select resolutions:

    https://github.com/chris1111/RDM

A related issue is that custom resolutions added by the above application do not work when the monitor is connected via Displaylink -…

  16. Is there such a drive board design that can drive two 4K panels, and is it directly driven by type-C?

Is there such a drive board design that can drive two 4K panels, and is it directly driven by type-C?
In this way, DIYer can design its own portable display, which is double screen.
I suggest we design such a driver board to realize the portable display that slidenjoy designed in 2015.
That design hasn't come true. I've been waiting for so many years.

DisplayLink can already support mulitple USB displays connected on Android with the DisplayLink desktop app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.displaylink.desktop.demo&hl=en_GB

However Android does not have a concept of multiple displays like other OSes. As of Android Pie, a single app can use more than one screen, eg powerpoint uses the phone screen to show presenter notes, and the extended screen shows the presentation.

For DisplayLink to properly support dual displays on Android, like other OSes, changes would be needed to Android to support multiple displays.

  19. Potential work around for the Catalina Mac OS update

I'm unsure if someone has already suggested this, but with the latest update Mac has rolled out (for Catalina 10.15), my DisplayLink stopped working with dual screen.

I have updated the driver to the most recent release, and all that would display would be one of the two screens. DisplayLink lists a possible solution involving entering recovery mode and inputting commands, however, I am impatient and lazy and did not do that.

But, I did get my dual display working again. For me, toggling my displays to mirror activated my dual screens, and toggling off mirroring has left my dual…

  20. Internal MBP monitor disabled after opening lid

When using certain applications (namely, any Native Instruments product, e.g. Kontakt and Creator Tools), DisplayLink behaves strangely as reported in another issue.
I'm used to keep the lid closed in order to use the external monitor only. Under certain circumstances, reopening the lid will keep the internal monitor disabled (i.e. black screen). The only workaround for this is hard-reboot.
