  1. Linux wayland support

Displaylink does not seem to work with wayland yet, which is starting to be the standard, replacing Xorg, on linux soon:

    https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Changes/WaylandByDefault
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wayland_(display_server_protocol)

Would be great if you could also support wayland!

This is on the backlog of Linux work, but is possible to be addressed by the community.

It is possible the issue could be fixed with changes to the EVDI driver, which is an open source component available on github here:

  3. Support Ubuntu 18.04

Hi I'm inquiring about when support for Ubuntu 18.04 and the Linux 4.15 kernel. I sent a paper letter to the Palo Alto office, but have not received a response.

  5. Retain Windows positions on screen when plugging in dock cable

When i switch between 2 computers using the same dock, all the windows positions are lost and i have to spend time rearranging them back to where i like them (across multiple monitors). I swap pcs regularly during the day and i waste alot of time doing this. If it can retain the windows settings it would be awesome

This needs a better description as to specific issues on Mac that need addressing. Some issues are already documented and being worked on by DisplayLink. as documented in knowledgebase articles.

This cannot be fixed by DisplayLink as we now need to use the Microsoft USB driver. The Microsoft USB driver cannot support switching USB configurations, which is required to support these docks. This means there are no plans to fix this issue.

  8. Support for LUTs

I have a laptop connected with an external monitor through a USB dock. It seems that DisplayLink does not support LUT as the ICC profile creation software (XRite i1Profiler) cannot complete the ICC profile creation for the secondary monitor connected through the USB Dock. The software works fine if I connect the monitor directly to the laptop HDMI port.

  11. Support linux on ALL your devices

I just purchased a displaylink USB 3 based device; reading the forums I didn't pickup the difference between USB 2.0 being supported and USB 3.0 not being supported. This is nonsense. Content protection on the monitor, I don't care about being able to use protected content; I'd like to just be able to use the monitor I paid for. But no.

I think you should support Linux with USB 3.0 devices to use non-DRM content.

Ubuntu is now supported by DisplayLink and can be downloaded from here:

    http://www.displaylink.com/downloads/ubuntu

The Ubuntu driver is designed with open source components and packaging which enables it to be ported and distributed for other linux distros. DisplayLink does not intend to officially support more than Ubuntu. For more information, see our article here:

    http://support.displaylink.com/knowledgebase/articles/679060

If you have further suggestions about Linux support, please raise separate specific feature requests.

If you have any problems or need support, please use the Linux forum here:
    http://www.displaylink.org/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=29

Please DO NOT use the comments thread to report problems. We have no way of following up on problem reports here. Use the forum instead.

  14. add support for Ubuntu Touch

Ubuntu Touch originally developed by canonical is still being developed by ubports.
I believe it could benefit from display link technology for external display support
it is currently based on Ubuntu 16.04 LTS and is pretty well supported
it also uses an android container to interface with userspace drivers

  15. Support for Samsung's Dex and Huawei's Desktop mode Android

Guys will be awesome that displaylink apps could take advantage of these features, they are already working desktop experiences for Android, we will only need you guys to support those functionalities over the wired connection instead just mirroring the phone.

  16. Support for Dell XPS in Ubuntu 16.10

It seems to me that many people are reporting instability issues for Ubuntu 16.10 using the latest 1.2.65 driver. Severe instabilities occur for certain types of hardware that was supported in Ubuntu 16.04.

I have a Dell XPS 13 (9343) and DL-3100. The screen keeps disappearing and re-appearing. It happens really randomly and sometimes many times per minute, other times it might be once per 20 minute. The displays go to black and everything crashes. It crashes often, but not always. This makes the applications stuck to that display crash as well. It is very poor…

Ubuntu 16.10 is now end of life, (since July 2017) so we do not plan any further changes for this version of Ubuntu.

  17. Support lightning (aka HiDPI) resolutions

On Mac Mojave, Displaylink does not support HiDPI resolutions. These are screen modes that render the desktop at double the size so that fonts become more crisp. For example on my 1440p monitor, there's a 720p HiDPI mode. When I connect the monitor directly to my mac, this mode can be selected. When I connect via my Dell D6000, nothing happens when selecting this mode.

You can use the following open source application to select resolutions:

    https://github.com/chris1111/RDM

A related issue is that custom resolutions added by the above application do not work when the monitor is connected via Displaylink -…

DisplayLink does NOT design, manufacture, distribute or sell any end product. DisplayLink is a semiconductor company. We are delighted to provide email support as debugging graphics issues are impossible by phone as we need data for a diagnosis.

The assistance for installation, and sales support, is coming from the product manufacturer and the seller as they know best the product they decided to build.

  19. Increased Mouse lag since the W10 Redstone / DP Driver 8.0 Update.

I have increased Mouse lag since the W10 Redstone / DisplayLink Driver 8.0 Update. I have a 3-screen Setup here. Surface Pro 3 + the DisplayLink USB Docking Station with 2 additional Screens. Working on those 2 external Screens got a bit tedious since the W10 Redstone / DisplayLink 8.0 Update. Maybe I´m too sensitive, but I feel enough mouse lag on the external Screens to slow down my daily work a bit. I´m using the DisplayLink Adapter since 2 years now and there were highs and lows regarding lag, but Version 7.9 on Windows 10 1511 was…
