  1. add support for the VMWare SVGA Driver so that virtual machine guests can use display link

When using virtual machines it would be really handy to have them display via usb adapters on spare monitors or PIP overlays in fancy monitors.

Many virtualisation engineers would be buying your products, many times.

  3. Support of proprietary NVIDIA driver

On my Ubuntu 20.04, Thinkbook 16p 2Gen, ThinkPad Hybrid USB-C+USB-A Dock combination, DisplayLink driver 5.5.Beta works at least for a hdmi 2560x1440 display together with the proprietary NVIDIA driver version 510.47.03.
Setting the displays via the kde control panel was not so easy and robust ... with "nvidia-settings" impossible.

It's okay for me now. So, many thanks for the driver. :-)

Displaylink driver 5.4.1 did not work at all.

Is it a coincidence or luck that 5.5.Beta works with the proprietary NVIDIA driver?

Is an update to DisplayLink Release: 5.5, Mar 9, 2022 a…

EVDI is designed as an open source component to be adapted for different graphics architectures.

It is possible to already use DisplayLink on some embedded ARM platforms, as complied binaries are available in our distribution. Articles on how to do this on Raspian and Ubuntu MATE are here:

    https://support.displaylink.com/knowledgebase/articles/1883065-using-arm-binaries-on-raspbian-on-raspberry-pi
    https://support.displaylink.com/knowledgebase/articles/1883068-using-arm-binaries-on-ubuntu-mate-on-raspberry-pi

The logs from the DisplayLink binary component are encrypted to protect IP. This is the same on all OSes for DisplayLink binary components.

  11. Fix linux driver scaling

Scaling doesn't work with the linux DisplayLink driver. This makes it impossible to use displays of different DPI together. By scaling I mean, for example:

xrandr --output DVI-I-1 --auto --scale 2x2

  12. DisplayLink Support for iPad under Sideloading with iPad0S 18

Under iPad OS 18 apple promised according to the new EU law to open up iPad OS 18 for sideloading.
Therefore it would be possible to provide alternative software circumventing the rough restrictions of the app store.
To sum up: It should be possible to download a display link driver over a 3rd party app store on iPad.
iPads than would support dual display via display link which would be a feature i absolutely love - and need-

  13. add support for Ubuntu Touch

Ubuntu Touch originally developed by canonical is still being developed by ubports.
I believe it could benefit from display link technology for external display support
it is currently based on Ubuntu 16.04 LTS and is pretty well supported
it also uses an android container to interface with userspace drivers

  14. support close lid

It would be great if you can implement support for the close lid, as this is available for the legacy driver, I'm not able to work on my Mac when the lid is closed and have to stick with old software to had that feature. On Display link Manager when you put a lid to close mode mac goes to sleep instead of turn off the internal monitor.

  16. Some applications detect DisplayLink as incompatible display driver. Problem exists with Adobe Premiere Elements 14, X-Plane, GoPro Quik

When using DisplayLink some applications show incompatible display driver error. Problem exists with Adobe Premiere Elements 14, X-Plane, GoPro Quik on Windows 10 and I'think at last since version 8 of drivers. Solution is to open them on laptop screen and then switch to displays connected via DisplayLink (in my case i-tec USB 3.0 docking station). It would be nice if it could be solved.

DisplayLink does NOT design, manufacture, distribute or sell any end product. DisplayLink is a semiconductor company. We are delighted to provide email support as debugging graphics issues are impossible by phone as we need data for a diagnosis.

The assistance for installation, and sales support, is coming from the product manufacturer and the seller as they know best the product they decided to build.

  18. Support linux with nvidia/amd drivers

support displaylink with proprietary drivers from nvidia and amd

This is on the backlog of Linux work, but is possible to be addressed by the community.

It is possible the issue could be fixed with changes to the EVDI driver, which is an open source component available on github here:

  19. Displaylink driver support for ubuntu 25.10

I recently updated my laptop to ubuntu 25.10 from 25.04. After the update, my DisplayLink dock doesn't connect my screen anymore. The keyboard and mouse connected to the dock work, but not the screen.
The drivers page shows official support only until Ubuntu 24.04, which is 1.5 years old now. It would be nice to have support for more recent versions.

    Operating System: Kubuntu 25.10
    Kernel Version: 6.17.0-6-generic (64-bit)
    Graphics Platform: Wayland
    Processors: 16 × AMD Ryzen 7 PRO 7840U w/ Radeon 780M Graphics

  20. Fix DisplayLinkManager and driver before it damages my MacBook

Mojave 10.14.6 with latest DisplayLink driver 5.2 on 2014 MacBook Air. Display is displaying correctly on Dell U2412M 1920x1200 display.

    BUT ...

DisplayLinkManager is hogging between 70% and 150% of CPU. Macbook fan is going crazy. Just a couple of static web pages on screen, no background tasks. Restarting MacBook sometimes fixes the issue, sometimes not.

This is not functional software, severely degrades MacBook performance, and can even DAMAGE the MacBook.
