1. Bring proper performant support for Linux on AMD Ryzen

Hey,

you released the last Linux driver update in May 2020 now it is Feb 2021. I would like to see here some major improvements as the driver doesn't full fill any needs.

Linux is already a good platform and will be even more important in future, so please support this community as well.

Or if you don't like Linux as a platform, then move all your servers either to Windows or Mac systems as well... hahahha

Bye the way i am running a AMD Ryzen 5 PRO 4650U with Radeon Graphics with Linux. sounds like it's an issue with…

2. macOS App: Clamshell / Lid Closed Mode

The macOS App driver does not allow me to operate on external monitors with the laptop closed. I had to uninstall the driver and reinstall the one from November to be able to work in clamshell mode. This is glitchy in the old driver, often freezing my computer. I was hoping to see this stabilize so I wouldn't have to restart so often (almost every time I disconnect my laptop from the docking station).

3. Main display taskbar setting issues with surface pro3

On my surface pro 3/win10 with a toshiba dynadock the right side of the taskbar (notifications/time/etc) always has it displaying on the surface pro3 screen even tho when i go into display settings it shows that one of my external monitors is the main display.

If I make the surface screen the main screen and then switch it back to an external screen then the external screen will have the correct taskbar functions.

If I change it to another external display then that display will not display it correctly and if i switch it back to the original…

Having investigated this, it looks to be specific to Windows on the SP3.

DisplayLink drivers and software make no changes to the position of the task bar. The OS certainly thinks that the DisplayLink display is the primary monitor, but does not always move the task bar to reflect this.

There is nothing DisplayLink can do to change this behaviour.

4. Signed driver would be very helpful

Please consider providing officially signed DisplayLink drivers to avoid disabling signature enforcement during install. This would improve security and user experience, especially for daily setups like Slope Rider. Thanks!

6. Display "Flip"

8. Wacom display tablet on Android

Using a DisplayLink dock I have connected a Wacom One Display Tablet to a Google Pixel 3a mobile running Android 12. I have used both the DisplayLink Presenter and Desktop app. The display works however, the stylus input, while recognized, is not calibrated for both portrait and landscape. When using a mouse, the pointer is displayed on the mobile screen but, not the external display.

Dear DisplayLink macOS users,

We are pleased DisplayLink 5.0.1 driver for macOS enables multiple extended display support on the latest Apple macOS 10.14.2 with additional features (clamshell and clone). We continue our strong support for the Mac platform and are working on delivering future updates with further performance improvements.
Driver 5.0.1: https://www.displaylink.com/downloads/file?id=1257

If your DisplayLink enabled device does not seem to work on 10.14, this is most likely due to the OS blocking our kernel extension. Please ensure our kernel extension is enabled by the OS as described in our FAQ: https://support.displaylink.com/knowledgebase/articles/1188004

Should you still miss extended displays on latest macOS with latest DisplayLink driver, please create a support ticket so your particular case can be investigated. Here is how: https://support.displaylink.com/knowledgebase/articles/755301

Due to changes in 10.13.4-10.13.6, it is not possible to enable DisplayLink extended displays, except one using Apple AirPlay. If your Mac is from 2011 running 10.13.4-10.13.6 and…

10. integrate with package managers

It would be lovely if i could keep up with the latest display link drivers and software using brew or apt-get. I don't think that's super hard... better apple/linux support probably a priority... but yeah. I think you have a huge market with people who want the reliability of Apple and the display real estate offered by display link (since apple wants you to use their wimpy graphics cards, or pay through the nose for $1000 retina displays).

(I have 4 display link driven 24 inch screens connected to my mac, with the 2 supported by my…

Thanks for the suggestion. For Linux we intend to supply and support a driver for Ubuntu, but have designed it to be repackaged for distribution to other Linux distributions.

We cannot be the experts to maintain this for all Linux distros. We intend to provide the tools to enable it to be ported and added to package managers by those familiar with the particular distro they wish to package it for.

If you have repackaged it for a package manager, please let us know and we can build a list of supported distros.

11. USB-C to USB-C with display signal.

USB-C to USB-C adapter that adds video signal on the USB-C cable. Optionally it would be nice to add a USB-PD charging port on the adapter. Making all USB-C devices more equal.

This is an frustrating issue with flex offices and BYOD. We can fix it by using USB-C displays or docks, but not all devices have display output on USB-C. A solution like this would basically fix every laptop to become compatible with any USB-C display/hub/dock.

This is what DisplayLink technology allows you to do: adding display over USB-C or USB-A without needing the machine to have native DisplayPort output over USB-C.
USB-PD requires dedicated circuitry on the laptop and in the dock/adapter, which isn’t possible to retrofit. However, vendors like Targus have a solution where the dock can provide power over USB-C or proprietary laptop connector.
If I misunderstood your suggestion, please do not hesitate to comment.

12. Support Ubuntu 17.04

Ubuntu 17.04 is not supported. I'm using a Dell D6000 docking station.
Network and USBs work, but headphones, monitors don't.

Also the current release cannot be installed without disabling Secure Boot.

Ubuntu 17.04 is now end of life, (since Jan 2018) so we do not plan any further changes for this version of Ubuntu.

This should be fixed by the 2.5 Mac release. If you still have issues, please raise a support issue through the “Contact Us” form

14. Provide the capacity to color correct monitors with ICC profiles and custom Look Up Tables.

I would like to be able to use my monitor color calibration tool [i1Profiler] to create and used custom ICC profiles for the monitors attached to the Display Link docking station.
There does not seem to be any capability to do this with the current system.

15. Add support for ios 13 or make a product mainly for it.

Add support to ios ( idk if this is even possible ) but iOs 13 looks promising. A dock or stand for ipad pro for mainly desktop use would be great!

18. fix the random logout issue with Displaylink on a Macbook pro

My idea is that the driver is usable without logging me out because the display server crashes on my MBP. This happens once or twice a week causing me to lose work, get disconnected from meetings, etc.

This requires fixes from Apple on later versions of OS X.The crashes do not occur on 10.8, even though it is the same driver.

19. Support Ubuntu 19.10

Ubuntu 19.04 reached end of life on 23 January 2020, however, upgrading beyond 19.04 breaks DisplayLink functionality.
