DisplayLink Feature Suggestions

  1. Please add: Xenarc Model # 708TSU to your list of not supported devices

    my original post here: https://www.reddit.com/r/techsupport/comments/graakc/cannotgetdisplaylinkwitha708tsumonitorto/

But after reading your support page (which, duh, I should have done in the first place) I understand why my device is not working. Has a fricking storage device in it with the drivers.

Please add: Xenarc Model # 708TSU to your list of not supported devices

  2. When is DisplayLink drivers going to work after suspend session on Ubuntu 20.04

Any word as to when this will be fixed? Looks like this problem has been around awhile. Running Ubuntu 20.04 with latest DisplayLink 5.3.1.34. Have there been any work-arounds found to wake the device up rather than powering down, unplugging and then plugging back in after a power up? I haven't found any command line suggestions that appear to work. Great product when it is working - thanks!

  3. Add an annotation: "Remember to update your equipment from the manufacturer's site"

Since the last update of MacOS, it was no longer possible for me to use my 2 screens with my macbook 12 "and my dell docking station.
Even uninstalling / reinstalling Displaylink nothing helped.

The solution: Connect my Dell D6000 dock to a Windows PC and make the update available on the Dell site.
Everything has been working again. If some are having problems with their docking stations, perhaps an update is available on the manufacturer's website.

  4. Solve the iTunes crash issue on Mac

Every time iTunes is started on a Mac with a second monitor driven by a DisplayLink-based adapter, one has to be aware NEVER to minimize the iTunes window: this always lead to the OS crashing and sending the user back to the login window.

It doesn't matter which monitor iTunes is displayed upon: if minimized, it WILL crash. Please fix.

  5. MacBook Air M1

I have a HP G2 dock that I use with my work HPG7 laptop. I wanted to use my MacBook Air M1, purchased recently with this dock.
I downloaded the display link driver, as recommended by a few website and within a few minutes, I have extended desktop from my MacBook Air onto my 2x HP E243i monitors.
I can even close the MacBook Air and still use the monitors and USB peripherals.
It's the same experience as my HP G7 laptop

  6. Please add a monitor rescan/refresh option

Sometimes the only way to refresh/rescan connected monitors is to quit displaylink and reopen it. A refresh/rescan menu choice inside of display link menu would be better (Display link 1.2 later MAC OS M1 macs).

  7. MacOS: Menu bar switch for activating / deactivating the driver

There are several occasions when I have to quit the DisplayLink driver app e.g. when I want to watch copy protected video content. Under MacOS there is a DisplayLink Icon in the menu bar. In order to temporarily disable the DisplayLink driver I have to quit the app. After that I have to start the driver all over again. That's not handsome.

    Suggestion:

    • Simple possibility to activate and deactivate the driver via the DisplayLink menu icon: New entries "Suspend DisplayLink driver" or "Resume DisplayLink driver".

    • Possbility to manage a list of apps: As soon as one of those apps will…

  8. DisplayLink Manager app auto-start on MacOS 10.15.7

I have been trying to get the new 1.2 display link graphics driver to work with my MBP Catalina10.5.7 and my Asus MB168+ monitor. I stumbled over the fact that it doesn't seem to auto open the driver unless you manually open it in Applications. Might be worth looking at ?

  9. Bring proper performant support for Linux on AMD Ryzen

    Hey,

you released the last Linux driver update in May 2020 now it is Feb 2021. I would like to see here some major improvements as the driver doesn't full fill any needs.

Linux is already a good platform and will be even more important in future, so please support this community as well.

Or if you don't like Linux as a platform, then move all your servers either to Windows or Mac systems as well... hahahha

Bye the way i am running a AMD Ryzen 5 PRO 4650U with Radeon Graphics with Linux. sounds like it's an issue with…

  10. Update DisplayLink Driver for M1 MacBook to auto start upon a restart.

When DisplayLink is running on my MacBook Pro M1 (running 2 external monitors) all works well! However, when I restart my MacBook Pro, I have to unplug my Dell D6000 dock and replug it in to "kick on" the DisplayLink driver for the two external monitors to boot up and display the screen.

  11. Providing ASTER Home license along with DisplayLink products

ASTER and DisplayLink are very well fit products. Therefore, IBIK company is ready to provide ASTER Home license for free to all customers of DisplayLink products. ASTER Home allows creating 2 Windows workplaces based on 1 Windows PC through a DisplayLink product. Windows PC + ASTER + DisplayLink product allow converting ordinary TV into a Smart TV with Windows OS! Consider our suggestion.

  12. Ubuntu 20.04 on MacBook Pro

I upgraded from 18.04 and I couldn't get DisplayLink to work for several hours. I the end it I found I had to power-cycle the dock, and now all is OK

(Except: this crept in during a kernel update on the previous OS -- If I disable the laptop's display, everything becomes really sluggish, so I keep it on)

  13. Ubuntu driver 5.3.1 bug

You should correct the Ubuntu driver to create the support frame buffer /dev/fb1
In the last version 5.3.1 installed in Ubuntu 20.04 it's not created.
Without the /dev/fb1 is not possible to set up a multihead system with loginctl.

  14. support close lid

It would be great if you can implement support for the close lid, as this is available for the legacy driver, I'm not able to work on my Mac when the lid is closed and have to stick with old software to had that feature. On Display link Manager when you put a lid to close mode mac goes to sleep instead of turn off the internal monitor.

  15. understand what 9.4 had as it works 100% rock solid, 10 just coped, 10.1 is wrong

I use a strange Cisco screen as my main and only monitor, after boot I shut the lid of the laptop and put my cup of tea on it...(with my now only screen having its own android OS it can, if the display link drivers fail to control it misbehave when trying to work exclusively in windows from a dell laptop )

If I connect via HDMI it's designed to work just as a monitor..... I have used like this for 14 months.

    9.2 just coped
    9.3 was a car crash
9.4 was rock solid always 100% correct in real…
