  1. Please use versioning format x.x.xx instead of x.x (xx)

We are trying to automate software updates and track inventory of DisplayLink drivers in our macOS environment. Trying to parse versions when the value reports as 4.1 (11) or DisplayLink Driver 4.1.11 - Copyright 2003... makes it difficult.

In the driver Info.plist file, please set the CFBundleShortVersionString key in the x.x.xx format. Even better, clean up the CFBundleGetInfoString

  2. Fix the memory leak in driver 5.3.1 for Ubuntu 20.04.1 LTS

This DisplayLink driver will slowly and continuously cache RAM on the system. After about 12 hours, for me it'll consume nearly 8GB of RAM and force a restart. Rinse and repeat.

Can confirm as no memory leak occurs when not using the dock.

  3. Enable Combine Displays functionality in the driver

I have a Samsung Neo G9, which for some reason only came with 1 DP and 2 HDMIs. For gaming I use the DP, but for work I use the HDMIs. To get the full resolution (5120x1440) I run 2x HDMIs @ 2560x1440 via a DL-6950 dual HDMI solution from Plugable.

The problem is it's one screen. So without this feature, dragging windows hits an invisible "wall" in the center of the screen, my start menu is offset or duplicated, and I can't maximize windows across the entire screen.

With the Intel graphics center and the Intel GPU, I can…

  4. Work on compatibility w/ Ableton Live 10 (current version crashes Live)

I'm running MacOS 10.13.3 (downgraded from 10.13.4 for reasons that I'm sure you know) on a MacBook Air (13-Inch Mid 2011, 1.8Ghz Core i7, 4 GB RAM) and whenever I have any of your latest (e.g. most recent final releases, two most recent "Betas" to fix the issue with MacOS 10.13.4) it causes Ableton Live 10 (10.0.1) to not load/run.

The main reason that my computer system and I have a DisplayLink in my environment is for making music. I use the two screen setup while working with Live to have my AU and VST plugins visible while tracking. Without…

  5. Add Debian support in general. As most Linux distros are based on Debian that would make your tech work on most Linux distros.

You don't have to reinvent the wheel: https://github.com/AdnanHodzic/displaylink-debian

That also would make it easy for Deepin Linux to adapt the drivers. Deepin is Linux distro #1 in China! Just think: Deepin + Lenovo (Thinkpad)

  6. Fix DisplayLinkManager taking up to 95% CPU on audio software or causing it not to open at all

On macOS 10.14.6 (2017 MBP with i7, DisplayLink running on i-tec USB-C hub), DisplayLinkManager takes up to 5-10% when supposedly idle. When running audio software - namely, Ableton Live and Reaper, but likely this can reproduced on any audio software and DAW - DisplayLinkManager can take up to one full core (~95% CPU reported). This doesn't seem to be related to the size of the project, so even small projects that take up 15-20% CPU are massively affected by this issue.

Native Instruments Kontakt has an even weirder behaviour:
    - restart MBP
    - connect external monitor via DisplayLink
    - try…

  8. Dual screen setup: Laggy vertical screen +DisplayLinkUser Agent eating 100% CPU with a MBP 2019 Intel

    Hello,

I have 2 external monitor DELL AW2721D which are QHD (2x 2560x1440p). Both are plugged using HDMI. I can't close my MacBook Pro because you don't support clamshell on Intel Based MBP (sad). It's plugged on a StarTech Dual 4k universal docking station USB-C 100W.

One is horizontal, the other is vertical (90° rotation).
The horizontal screen position monitor runs smooth (moving windows around, moving cursor).

PROBLEM: the rotated monitor (90°) is extremely laggy. Even moving the mouse feels laggy.

I've noticed that DisplayLinkUser agent is eating up to 100% of the CPU when moving a windows in that…

  9. Support for 2304x1296 resolution (macOS)

I’m using an OWC Dual 4K HDMI adapter on macOS Sonoma and while it works rather well driving my 4K displays, what I’m missing on the displaylink-connected display is support for 2304x1296 resolution (scaled) - it’s otherwise available when the display is connected directly.

It’s a very nice middle ground between the size of UI elements and sharpness, and the adapter only provides scaled resolutions of 2560x1440 (a bit smallish and fuzzy) and 2048x1152 (sharper, but too big still). Thank you in advance for accommodating this request, which I hope is not too complex to implement, at least among experimental…

  11. Extreme mouse lag after after updating to Tahoe 26.1 (MacOS)

Realized that after updating, the mouse freezes for 5 seconds intermittently. The screen also flickers, repositioning application windows. I've tried restarting but this continues to happen. This is ruined productivity.

  12. Create the ability to defined "docked" vs "undocked" profiles for the USB docking station

In older versions of Windows there use to be a capability to have different profiles for a "docked" PC and an "unlocked" PC. This would be a great capability for you to add into your product since it is now a corporate mandate.

My main issue is that I set up my desktop the way I like it and then when I either connect the USB or disconnect the USB all my settings are lost and I can't find my desktop icons anymore. This is a negative impact on my productivity.

  13. Ubuntu driver: using dlm.service is rather unfortunate for a clash with dlm cluster control daemon

    See:
    https://pagure.io/dlm/blob/master/f/init/dlm.service

It would be better if it could fail with an error in case the file already
exists and is not authentic (from previous installation).

    Thanks for considering.

  15. Temporary disable displaylink adapter even with the cable still plugged in.

Some docking station support both HDMI alt mode and displaylink. I would like to be able to turn off displaylink temporary and switch to HDMI alt mode while leaving the cable plugged.

The reason behind this is that if I leave displaylink on, gaming on integrated graphic card is mostly impossible but I get 4k60 while on the desktop. But then if I turn if off gaming is better (while not great) but then I can only do 4k30 on the desktop.

Being able to switch off displaylink adapter temporarily would allow us to get the most of our system…

  16. Add normal USB-C to HDMI/displayport (no specific driver should be needed)

Stop the shenanigans of having to install a driver for basic stuff!
You're doing something wrong when a driver is needed on macOS and screen recording permissions needs to be given. Never have this been necessary for simple USB-C to HDMI/displayport.
The base case should be to enable normal use like what you would achieve with a normal USB-C Digital AV Multiport Adapter.

  20. Nvidia CUDA for DisplayLink docks

CUDA® is a parallel computing platform and programming model developed by NVIDIA for general computing on graphical processing units (GPUs). With CUDA, developers are able to dramatically speed up computing applications by harnessing the power of GPUs

DisplayLink can start using it to free up CPU for the other tasks?
