  1. Ubuntu driver 5.3.1 bug

You should correct the Ubuntu driver to create the support frame buffer /dev/fb1
In the last version 5.3.1 installed in Ubuntu 20.04 it's not created.
Without the /dev/fb1 is not possible to set up a multihead system with loginctl.

  2. Ubuntu 20.04 on MacBook Pro

I upgraded from 18.04 and I couldn't get DisplayLink to work for several hours. I the end it I found I had to power-cycle the dock, and now all is OK

(Except: this crept in during a kernel update on the previous OS -- If I disable the laptop's display, everything becomes really sluggish, so I keep it on)

  3. Providing ASTER Home license along with DisplayLink products

ASTER and DisplayLink are very well fit products. Therefore, IBIK company is ready to provide ASTER Home license for free to all customers of DisplayLink products. ASTER Home allows creating 2 Windows workplaces based on 1 Windows PC through a DisplayLink product. Windows PC + ASTER + DisplayLink product allow converting ordinary TV into a Smart TV with Windows OS! Consider our suggestion.

  4. Work to provide RHEL/CentOS native compatibility

Every employee in the modern corporate environment has a laptop.

On each laptop are displaylink drivers to support the docks at workstations (for 2 to 6 monitors).

All of those workstations run windows, but they don't have to - they could run RHEL or CentOS instead, if there was a displaylink driver available.

Please work to create and support a displaylink driver for RHEL/CentOS. You would bring joy to many developers and engineers working from both home and office.

As the displays are relevant for only the workstations, creating it only for the latest version and not back-porting (RHEL/CentOS 8)…

  5. MacOS Display Arrangement does not save.

With the latest release of Display Link, the Display Arrangement for a MacBook Air with 2 external monitors reverts back to default every time the machine is put to sleep or restarted.

  8. Update DisplayLink Driver for M1 MacBook to auto start upon a restart.

When DisplayLink is running on my MacBook Pro M1 (running 2 external monitors) all works well! However, when I restart my MacBook Pro, I have to unplug my Dell D6000 dock and replug it in to "kick on" the DisplayLink driver for the two external monitors to boot up and display the screen.

  10. Enable visual accessibility settings for partially sighted users

Both Windows & macOS have tools for applying colour filters to a screen to enable partially sighted users better access to these devices.

These settings are enforced on monitors directly connected to theses devices and were previously supported on prior versions of DisplayLink when using a Mac but are not working currently.

Is there a plan to leverage the built-in OS tools to enable this in the future?

  11. Dual screen setup: Laggy vertical screen +DisplayLinkUser Agent eating 100% CPU with a MBP 2019 Intel

    Hello,

I have 2 external monitor DELL AW2721D which are QHD (2x 2560x1440p). Both are plugged using HDMI. I can't close my MacBook Pro because you don't support clamshell on Intel Based MBP (sad). It's plugged on a StarTech Dual 4k universal docking station USB-C 100W.

One is horizontal, the other is vertical (90° rotation).
The horizontal screen position monitor runs smooth (moving windows around, moving cursor).

PROBLEM: the rotated monitor (90°) is extremely laggy. Even moving the mouse feels laggy.

I've noticed that DisplayLinkUser agent is eating up to 100% of the CPU when moving a windows in that…

  12. Bring proper performant support for Linux on AMD Ryzen

    Hey,

you released the last Linux driver update in May 2020 now it is Feb 2021. I would like to see here some major improvements as the driver doesn't full fill any needs.

Linux is already a good platform and will be even more important in future, so please support this community as well.

Or if you don't like Linux as a platform, then move all your servers either to Windows or Mac systems as well... hahahha

Bye the way i am running a AMD Ryzen 5 PRO 4650U with Radeon Graphics with Linux. sounds like it's an issue with…

  14. DisplayLinkManager.exe priority should start High, not Normal

On my Windows 7 x64 computer, in times of heavy CPU usage, the mouse cursor becomes extremely choppy. This is because DisplayLinkManager's priority is the same as that of the process using all the CPU time.

I have found that if I set DisplayLinkManager.exe to High priority, the mouse cursor remains mostly smooth. Please consider defaulting DisplayLinkManager.exe priority to High at startup. This is an easy change in code and would solve one big irritation with this product.

  16. DisplayLink Manager app auto-start on MacOS 10.15.7

I have been trying to get the new 1.2 display link graphics driver to work with my MBP Catalina10.5.7 and my Asus MB168+ monitor. I stumbled over the fact that it doesn't seem to auto open the driver unless you manually open it in Applications. Might be worth looking at ?

  17. MacOS: Menu bar switch for activating / deactivating the driver

There are several occasions when I have to quit the DisplayLink driver app e.g. when I want to watch copy protected video content. Under MacOS there is a DisplayLink Icon in the menu bar. In order to temporarily disable the DisplayLink driver I have to quit the app. After that I have to start the driver all over again. That's not handsome.

    Suggestion:

    • Simple possibility to activate and deactivate the driver via the DisplayLink menu icon: New entries "Suspend DisplayLink driver" or "Resume DisplayLink driver".

    • Possbility to manage a list of apps: As soon as one of those apps will…

  18. Fix the High CPU usage (20-40%) issue! Mint Linux 19.3 Kernel 5.4 & Cinnamon UI. Fan kicks in every 2 minutes-DisplayLink is top process

Fix the High CPU usage (20-40%) issue! Mint Linux 19.3 Kernel 5.4 & Cinnamon UI. Fan kicks in every 2 minutes-DisplayLink is top process using between 20 and 50% of CPU every 2 minutes. 19. Avoid boot time stall due to udev rules

The script deployed by the displaylink installer at /opt/displaylink/udev.sh is triggered by udev rules and will run:

    systemctl start displaylink-driver

Under certain conditions this will trigger "udevadm settle" to block forever as it leaved processes left and can't return.

I found https://github.com/NixOS/nixpkgs/pull/51760/commits/c72bb28b9cb5138d39647f8fa12394443fea682d which fixes the issue for them.
Applying the same to /opt/displaylink/udev.sh in Ubuntu 20.04 works just fine, the boot is fast again and functionality had no negative impact.

So please could you change this line in your code to be like:
    systemctl start --no-block displaylink-driver

  20. Please add a monitor rescan/refresh option

Sometimes the only way to refresh/rescan connected monitors is to quit displaylink and reopen it. A refresh/rescan menu choice inside of display link menu would be better (Display link 1.2 later MAC OS M1 macs).
