Linux wayland support
Displaylink does not seem to work with wayland yet, which is starting to be the standard, replacing Xorg, on linux soon:
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Changes/WaylandByDefault
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wayland_(display_server_protocol)Would be great if you could also support wayland!

ARM linux support
Better Linux support, a direct driver for X11 and support ARM devices and not crypted logs.
169 votesEVDI is designed as an open source component to be adapted for different graphics architectures.
It is possible to already use DisplayLink on some embedded ARM platforms, as complied binaries are available in our distribution. Articles on how to do this on Raspian and Ubuntu MATE are here:

https://support.displaylink.com/knowledgebase/articles/1883068-using-arm-binaries-on-ubuntu-mate-on-raspberry-piThe logs from the DisplayLink binary component are encrypted to protect IP. This is the same on all OSes for DisplayLink binary components.

True HDR & 10-bit Color with Per-Monitor ICC Color Management (Windows / macOS / Linux/Wayland)
Please add full HDR (HDR10/HLG) and 10-bit color support to DisplayLink pipelines, with per-monitor ICC color management across Windows, macOS, and Linux/Wayland. Today many DisplayLink setups are effectively SDR/8-bit, leading to banding and inaccurate colors for creators and analysts. Proposed capabilities: (1) end-to-end 10-bit path with HDR metadata passthrough and correct EDID handling; (2) OS-level integration so each DisplayLink monitor can use its own ICC profile (including factory LUTs); (3) a simple on/off toggle with automatic SDR↔HDR switching and safe fallback; (4) minimal added latency and no reduction of max resolution/refresh vs current support. This would…

Support linux on ALL your devices
I just purchased a displaylink USB 3 based device; reading the forums I didn't pickup the difference between USB 2.0 being supported and USB 3.0 not being supported. This is nonsense. Content protection on the monitor, I don't care about being able to use protected content; I'd like to just be able to use the monitor I paid for. But no.
I think you should support Linux with USB 3.0 devices to use non-DRM content.
576 votesUbuntu is now supported by DisplayLink and can be downloaded from here:
http://www.displaylink.com/downloads/ubuntu
The Ubuntu driver is designed with open source components and packaging which enables it to be ported and distributed for other linux distros. DisplayLink does not intend to officially support more than Ubuntu. For more information, see our article here:

If you have further suggestions about Linux support, please raise separate specific feature requests.
If you have any problems or need support, please use the Linux forum here:

Support both Xorg and Wayland with acceptable performance in Ubuntu 20.04
The current released Ubuntu installer doesn't work in 20.04, which will be released in a couple of months as the next LTS release.
If you hack the installer not to compile the kernel module, and instead use the kernel module and install the libevdi0 that ship with Ubuntu, then you can use DisplayLink under Wayland, but the performance is terrible -- significant lags in display updates and watching videos is impossible. And in this configuration DisplayLink doesn't work with Xorg at all.
Please rectify this before 20.04 ships.138 votes -

Does DisplayLink support macOS / Windows / Linux?
DisplayLink has good support on both Windows and macOS, allowing users to easily connect multiple displays via USB. For Linux, DisplayLink support is also available, but often requires manual configuration and can be more limited depending on the distribution and driver.

Support linux with nvidia/amd drivers
support displaylink with proprietary drivers from nvidia and amd
269 votesThis is on the backlog of Linux work, but is possible to be addressed by the community.
It is possible the issue could be fixed with changes to the EVDI driver, which is an open source component available on github here:

When will displaylink support AMD cpu/gpu in Linux
Currently displaylink-based docking stations and amgpus are not usable on Linux. The screen refresh lagging is horrible.
Can you provide a plan when this will be fixed or at least make a proper disclaimer that Linux is not supprted. so people can spend their money on working products.
Thanks.

Bring proper performant support for Linux on AMD Ryzen
Hey,
you released the last Linux driver update in May 2020 now it is Feb 2021. I would like to see here some major improvements as the driver doesn't full fill any needs.
Linux is already a good platform and will be even more important in future, so please support this community as well.
Or if you don't like Linux as a platform, then move all your servers either to Windows or Mac systems as well... hahahha
Bye the way i am running a AMD Ryzen 5 PRO 4650U with Radeon Graphics with Linux. sounds like it's an issue…

Fix linux driver scaling
Scaling doesn't work with the linux DisplayLink driver. This makes it impossible to use displays of different DPI together. By scaling I mean, for example:
xrandr --output DVI-I-1 --auto --scale 2x2

Add Debian support in general. As most Linux distros are based on Debian that would make your tech work on most Linux distros.
You don't have to reinvent the wheel: https://github.com/AdnanHodzic/displaylink-debian
That also would make it easy for Deepin Linux to adapt the drivers. Deepin is Linux distro #1 in China! Just think: Deepin + Lenovo (Thinkpad)

Ubuntu package with Linux Kernel 5.7 support for new Ryzen Renoir 4000 series laptops
Ubuntu package with Linux Kernel 5.7 support for new Ryzen Renoir 4000 series laptops.
I recently purchased a Lenovo Ideapad Flex 5 and purchased a Qgeem USB to HDMI adapter to add a second external monitor. The Ubuntu 20.04 displaylink package works but is quite buggy. The video has more lag than on other hardware and the video input can act erratic at times.

Start supporting Linux on Lenovo's Thinkpad hardware!
Lenovo is selling docking solutions for their Thinkpad laptos. These docks have DisplayLink stickers at the button but none of them is working properly with Linux! Deepin Linux (based on Debian) is massively used in China by IT professionals working with Lenovo's Thinkpad hardware. We want at least dual monitor support working with this hardware. At the moment getting this to work is just a big pain in the a**. :-(((((((((((((

Linux: reach Windows feature parity (mirroring, scaling, and rotating)
Currently unsupported / broken in DisplayLink on Linux:
- Display mirroring
- Display scaling
- Display rotation
This really limits what you can actually do with DisplayLink on Linux - i.e. you can only currently have an extended display activated with no scaling or rotation. You can't even use only the DisplayLink connected display on its own.
