Balancing Work and Fun with Tech
I’ve been exploring different OS setups for work—macOS for everyday tasks and Linux for development. The flexibility of Linux is great, but I still enjoy taking short breaks with fun apps like soflo wheelie life.
Curious—how do you balance productivity and a little gaming fun in your workflow?

Night shift and True tone on macOs
I think it's a big miss not to have Night shift and True tone.
For those who have an external monitor without a brightness sensor or want the same colors as the internal monitor.
Working at night is difficult without this feature. Please add support for these functions for MacOs

Enable 4K HDR support to TV's for extended display use when viewing High End Photographs in Capture One or other Photo Edditing software
A large number of Photographers are using high end Cameras capable of recording 16 bits per pixel HDR. There are also a large number of 4K HDR TV's being sold but they only display Jpeg format at 8 bits per pixel. It would be fantastic to have a device that would bring these technologies together so people could use their TV's to view and or edit their HDR photographs properly on a 4K HDR device.
18 votesThank you for the suggestion. Could you specifiy the platform you are using? PC/Mac, which OS, which application and product using DisplayLink technology? For HDR, all elements must do their part and they are not all technically capable.

Ipad
Apple iPadOS — Using Driverkit add support for iPadOS for Displaylink. The iPadOS may not be able to handle dual screens but if using Displaylink I could have the external screen split over two screens this would be great also.

Conflicts using Nvidia Prime, Displaylink and Ubuntu
I would like to describe conflicts using Nvidia Prime, Displaylink and Ubuntu in my experience.
My environment: Ubuntu 18.10, Nvidia GTX 1070 (nvidia-driver-415), Displaylink 5.1, Asus MB168B+ (USB monitor), laptop Gigabyte Aero15x.
If I try to login with nvidia profile activated and anything connected in USB ports (even only a mouse), I will face a login loop. It only will stop after disconnecting all USB devices, restarting the system and then I'll be able to login into my Ubuntu. Once logged in, I can connect my USB devices and use everything included my second monitor.
If I try to login…

Not working on ubuntu 16.04
After I upgraded to 16.04 LTS, I could not use my DisplayLinks graphics/ethernet adapter for graphics (ethernet works fine). I recently installed the newest driver (1.2.65) but I get this error:
Warning: dlm.service changed on disk. Run 'systemctl daemon-reload' to reload units.
Job for dlm.service failed because the control process exited with error code. See "systemctl status dlm.service" and "journalctl -xe" for details.I run journalctl as suggested by the error message and here is what I get:

Support for Target Display Mode (i.e. using an iMAC as a monitor)
An iMAC can be used as an external monitor using Target Display Mode. Is it possible to get a DisplayLink dock to enable TDM when iMAC is plugged to the dock (i.e. using a Tunderbolt 2 to HDMI cable)?
For example, I have a MAC Book Pro 13inch (2016) and an iMAC 27inch (2012). I use iMac as an external monitor using TDM with MacBook Pro (using a Thunderbolt 2 to USB-C cable) as described on https://support.apple.com/en-gb/guide/mac-help/mh30822/mac
I also have a Dell DA300 displaylink dock. Using Tunderbolt 2 to HDMI cable to connect iMAC to dock and USB-C…

integrate with package managers
It would be lovely if i could keep up with the latest display link drivers and software using brew or apt-get. I don't think that's super hard... better apple/linux support probably a priority... but yeah. I think you have a huge market with people who want the reliability of Apple and the display real estate offered by display link (since apple wants you to use their wimpy graphics cards, or pay through the nose for $1000 retina displays).
(I have 4 display link driven 24 inch screens connected to my mac, with the 2 supported by my laptop…
1 voteThanks for the suggestion. For Linux we intend to supply and support a driver for Ubuntu, but have designed it to be repackaged for distribution to other Linux distributions.
We cannot be the experts to maintain this for all Linux distros. We intend to provide the tools to enable it to be ported and added to package managers by those familiar with the particular distro they wish to package it for.
If you have repackaged it for a package manager, please let us know and we can build a list of supported distros.

Manager / option for disable one of external monitor
Hi,
I am using HP G2 universal dock which support 2xDP and 1xHDMI.
It would be great to control from app/manager enabling and disabling one of external monitor.
I see it like available monitors list with checkbox (enabled/disabled) in DisplayLink Manager located in top bar - macOS.9 votes -
Ubuntu 16.04 LTS

Displaylink driver for Ubuntu + Nvidia - Support for monitors in portrait
Vertical monitors with Ubuntu and Displaylink drivers is not well supported. Especially with NVIDIA drivers installed. I am using the current latest version of Tuxedo OS (TUXEDO-OS-2-202305301020).
Vertical monitors fail to display properly and leave behind a mouse cursor when moving from external monitor to monitor.1 vote -

I want to use displaylink in Android kitket.
Hello.
Used properly, in my displaylink in the Android Lollipop. I want to use displaylink in Android kitket.
Do you have plans to support Android kitket?4 votesUnfortunately we are unable to support Kitkat versions. We rely on the operating system to get the pixels to display. This was only implemented from Android 5 Lollipop. That means we are unable to make it work on non-modified Kitkat versions because there is nothing for us to interface with.

Recommendation: Optimized support for 4K and 5K displays
Hello DisplayLink,
I would like to suggest improving the performance and stability when using 4K or 5K displays via DisplayLink connection, especially when running multiple displays or graphics-heavy applications.
This will help the experience be smoother and take full advantage of the high resolution of modern displays.
Thanks to the DisplayLink team for listening to your feedback!

Is there a way to decompress DisplayLink data on another device?
I would love to be able to forward raw DisplayLink data to another device (running a host OS like Linux/Windows) and decode that data on the device for a live PiP sort-of display. This could enable devices that allow hosting other devices' displays on one single master device. I am a hobbyist looking to create a proof-of-concept device that allows me to control another device from mine. (Focusing on high-ish performance and not using existing tech like Wireless transmission, or other non-native solutions) DisplayLink seems like a perfect candidate currently, since the data is compressed and forwarded to a…

what logs/debugs are you willing to share that need to be collected to support DisplayLink engineering from the front end?
When deploying DisplayLink-enabled docks to over 200 Windows 11 PCs in an enterprise environment (with multiple 4K monitors, USB–C PD, and 802.1x networking), how do you ensure that: (1) the DisplayLink driver is always automatically updated and compatible with different GPU/host controller versions; (2) any changes from 802.1x policy or from dock firmware updates do not cause the device to lose display connection or become “no signal”; (3) there is a quick fix when some machines report “USB device not recognized” or “DisplayLink device lost video signal” without having to reinstall the entire driver or replace the dock – and…
