Linux wayland support
Displaylink does not seem to work with wayland yet, which is starting to be the standard, replacing Xorg, on linux soon:
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Changes/WaylandByDefault
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wayland_(display_server_protocol)Would be great if you could also support wayland!
197 votesTo work with Wayland, EVDI lacks GBM. For anyone that would be willing to have a go and develop a GBM backend, here’s how it was already implemented for Chrome OS in their minigbm: https://chromium.googlesource.com/chromiumos/platform/minigbm/+/master/evdi.c

Support linux with nvidia/amd drivers
support displaylink with proprietary drivers from nvidia and amd
196 votesThis is on the backlog of Linux work, but is possible to be addressed by the community.
It is possible the issue could be fixed with changes to the EVDI driver, which is an open source component available on github here:

Linux: reach Windows feature parity (mirroring, scaling, and rotating)
Currently unsupported / broken in DisplayLink on Linux:
- Display mirroring
- Display scaling
- Display rotationThis really limits what you can actually do with DisplayLink on Linux - i.e. you can only currently have an extended display activated with no scaling or rotation. You can't even use only the DisplayLink connected display on its own.

ARM linux support
Better Linux support, a direct driver for X11 and support ARM devices and not crypted logs.
120 votesI’ve updated this to be for ARM Linux support. EVDI is designed as an open source component to be adapted for different graphics architectures.
The logs from the DisplayLink binary component are encrypted to protect IP. This is the same on all OSes for DisplayLink binary components.

Support Night Shift and f.lux for Mac OS
As documented, there is work underway for Windows to support f.lux. However, I haven't seen any clear communication that support Night Shift of f.lux on Mac OS is in the works as neither are supported via DisplayLink. It would be really nice to have these options on Mac.

Support WIndows 10 Night Light
With the Windows 10 Creators Update, you can now lower the amount of blue light emitted from your PC with the new Night light feature.
Settings > System > Display
This feature doesn't work on my HP s140u monitor using DisplayLink 8.4.2250.0. I'm guessing it might not work on lots of other devices too.

Add support for VMware USB passthrough so guest OS can have dedicated display output
For DL-3xxx and DL-5xxx devices especially.
This is already working for MacOS but not working for Windows (as mentioned in DisplayLink KB 544870) and Linux.
This will allow multiple DisplayLinks to be used on single VM hosts behaving like thin clients, which is an enormous user base and thus market potential.

Fix linux driver scaling
Scaling doesn't work with the linux DisplayLink driver. This makes it impossible to use displays of different DPI together. By scaling I mean, for example:
xrandr --output DVI-I-1 --auto --scale 2x2

Android portrait
Add screen rotation to Android client. I have a display link monitor than can be turned to portrait mode. But, by default, my device displays in a box unless I turn the device to landscape... It then fills the screen. I would ask that the app allow me to hold the phone in portrait and display to my portrait monitor full screen. It does display correctly for a short time before rotating fully.

Support for Dell XPS in Ubuntu 16.10
It seems to me that many people are reporting instability issues for Ubuntu 16.10 using the latest 1.2.65 driver. Severe instabilities occur for certain types of hardware that was supported in Ubuntu 16.04.
I have a Dell XPS 13 (9343) and DL-3100. The screen keeps disappearing and re-appearing. It happens really randomly and sometimes many times per minute, other times it might be once per 20 minute. The displays go to black and everything crashes. It crashes often, but not always. This makes the applications stuck to that display crash as well. It is very poor performance (lag/hanging/high CPU usage)…

Not working on ubuntu 16.04
After I upgraded to 16.04 LTS, I could not use my DisplayLinks graphics/ethernet adapter for graphics (ethernet works fine). I recently installed the newest driver (1.2.65) but I get this error:
Warning: dlm.service changed on disk. Run 'systemctl daemon-reload' to reload units.
Job for dlm.service failed because the control process exited with error code. See "systemctl status dlm.service" and "journalctl -xe" for details.I run journalctl as suggested by the error message and here is what I get:

add brightness support to non-windows OSes
It's stated in the documentation that color correction and brightness do not work. I'm mostly interested in controlling the birghtness - is display link working on these features for non-windows OSes?

Connecting via Cat6 instead of USB3
Would be nice to rackmount a few of my PCs in the garage and just gave displaylink devices on the desks kinda like dumb terminals. 3m USB 3 cable limit doesnt allow for this. Maybe its possible with usb extenders. But to get the hot and loud gaming PC's out of the rooms will be a win.

See all dockingstations of same type as same device
Hi!
We have installed a multitude of workstations with the same type of DisplayLink docking station. When moving from one station to another, the monitor settings are "forgotten" and the new Dell D6000 is seen as a completely new device, and new drivers and settings for monitors, network and usb are needed to be configured.
Therefore I suggest making it possible to have the driver think that all docks of the same type is also the same device. This will make this problem go away.
Thanks

Enable 4K HDR support to TV's for extended display use when viewing High End Photographs in Capture One or other Photo Edditing software
A large number of Photographers are using high end Cameras capable of recording 16 bits per pixel HDR. There are also a large number of 4K HDR TV's being sold but they only display Jpeg format at 8 bits per pixel. It would be fantastic to have a device that would bring these technologies together so people could use their TV's to view and or edit their HDR photographs properly on a 4K HDR device.
6 votesThank you for the suggestion. Could you specifiy the platform you are using? PC/Mac, which OS, which application and product using DisplayLink technology? For HDR, all elements must do their part and they are not all technically capable.
