Android portrait
Add screen rotation to Android client. I have a display link monitor than can be turned to portrait mode. But, by default, my device displays in a box unless I turn the device to landscape... It then fills the screen. I would ask that the app allow me to hold the phone in portrait and display to my portrait monitor full screen. It does display correctly for a short time before rotating fully.

Many years have passed by what I see in some comments, but this is still a need for the community.
I really want a button on the displaylink Client enabled to change the orientation of my screen cast to my external monitor, would love it even more if the option to recognize DeX or just mirroring exists. Convergence is the future.

5 years later and DEX still doesn't do this. I am amazed that they haven't added this function.
I just bought an external touchscreen monitor and can't use it in portrait mode with my S10. Samsung, you suck. -

+1 up vote for this. Would be awesome. Touch screen monitor, in portrait = massive phone/tablet! Please make this happen!

Upvote! The current situation is even worse - the display shows portrait mode at times even if the phone is in landscape.

I do not know if any of you still check this post but I'm going to meet someone that I think can make an app work for this ill update what I find out in the next month and I'd also like to have dex work with this but it doesn't seem like they will add this

This would be huge. Mirroring a phone with its interface designed for the most part to be vertical to mostly fill the screen on a portrait pivoted monitor should already be a thing.
The calls for DeX mode support are actually missing the point of doing this. It is already possible to hook a single DisplayLink device to a DeX hub and add an additional display that mirror's the phone or tablet screen (not the DeX environment). With an alt-Launcher that handles landscape layouts elegantly and permits icon resizing you can actually get a useful 2-display system with Dex+DisplayLink in paralel right now.
Adding the portrait->portrait mirroring would make that second display much more attractive to phone users, and would open up the possability of a portrait-oriented second monitor to DeX generally.
Imagine using a 24" monitor in landscape for DeX with a 17" - 20" in portrait (roughly same height) right next to it mirroring the phone screen via DisplayLink for vertical documents, widgets, and running whatever oddball apps don't want to play nicely with DeX. That's the happy place (even better with a 34" ultrawide and a pivoted 24" for the sidecar ;) ).

Guys yes , I support this idea, and even better adding the Samsung's Dex and Huawei's Desktop mode functionality, this will improve a lot this product for android users

I was able to get portrait mode to work with the following ADB command, however the touchscreen is out of sync (it still thinks it's lanscape) hoping the android APK officially can be made to support this!:
adb shell setprop persist.demo.remoterotation portrait
adb reboot -

Just bought the Samsung Zennscreen touch thinking I could project my phone in portrait mode to the Zennscreen in portrait mode, but it just mirrors the screen in landscape mode on the monitor. Really stupid!

Actually, what's really needed is support for Samsung's Dex and Huawei's Desktop mode over a wired connection, instead of a mirrored display. Both of these are productivity Android desktops that turn the phone into a laptop with an external screen connected. I was able to get my Home screen to stay in landscape mode, but it was still too big for most Google apps, some of which won't display correctly in landscape mode.

To me, this would be the one feature turning the zen screen from a curiosity into a genuinely useful tool, since what I really need enlarged is the phone in portrait mode.

Agreed - I have the same wish...I'm using an AOC USB monitor that can rotate to portrait mode but no way for the app to tell the monitor to rotate...

Yes! This would be a Great incentive to buy DisplayLink, so can so signage, etc, in vertical, portrait format on larger tv monitor screens. I want one if implemented.
