integrate with package managers
It would be lovely if i could keep up with the latest display link drivers and software using brew or apt-get. I don't think that's super hard... better apple/linux support probably a priority... but yeah. I think you have a huge market with people who want the reliability of Apple and the display real estate offered by display link (since apple wants you to use their wimpy graphics cards, or pay through the nose for $1000 retina displays).
(I have 4 display link driven 24 inch screens connected to my mac, with the 2 supported by my laptop --…
1 voteThanks for the suggestion. For Linux we intend to supply and support a driver for Ubuntu, but have designed it to be repackaged for distribution to other Linux distributions.
We cannot be the experts to maintain this for all Linux distros. We intend to provide the tools to enable it to be ported and added to package managers by those familiar with the particular distro they wish to package it for.
If you have repackaged it for a package manager, please let us know and we can build a list of supported distros.

Fix DisplayLinkManager taking up to 95% CPU on audio software or causing it not to open at all
On macOS 10.14.6 (2017 MBP with i7, DisplayLink running on i-tec USB-C hub), DisplayLinkManager takes up to 5-10% when supposedly idle. When running audio software - namely, Ableton Live and Reaper, but likely this can reproduced on any audio software and DAW - DisplayLinkManager can take up to one full core (~95% CPU reported). This doesn't seem to be related to the size of the project, so even small projects that take up 15-20% CPU are massively affected by this issue.
Native Instruments Kontakt has an even weirder behaviour:
- restart MBP

Fix DisplayLink driver so it works 100% with MacOS
When I have only 1 external monitor connected to my M1 MacBook Pro and I'm not using DisplayLink, the "Remember Window Position" feature of the OS works as expected.
With 2 external monitors (and the unfortunate necessity of DisplayLink), the Remember Window Position feature no longer works.
Please fix the DisplayLink driver so it is effectively invisible to the OS and external monitors behave the same as they do without DisplayLink.14 votes -
macOS: Invert colors on all monitors via DisplayLink Manager
When using latest macOS (currently 14.1.1) and DisplayLink Manager (currently 1.10) via Anker 563 (would apply to any DL device), it would be nice if when one does 'Invert colors' in macOS as per below, DisplayLink Manager applies this setting to all external monitors. Presently, this functionality only works on the laptop screen only, not any external monitors connected via USB-C to HDMI out.

Improve Multi-Monitor Performance
Hi DisplayLink team,
I’d like to suggest a feature to improve multi-monitor setups. Sometimes, when using two or more monitors through DisplayLink adapters, the refresh rates and resolution scaling can feel inconsistent. It would be great to have an option in the DisplayLink software to synchronize refresh rates across all connected monitors and optimize performance for video playback and gaming.
This could reduce lag, stuttering, and scaling issues. A small setting in the DisplayLink Manager or Control Panel could make multi-monitor setups much smoother.
Thank you for considering this idea! geometry dash free

to integrate a PAUSE function into your firmware, that freezes the displayed content anc can eb activated/de-activated by keyboard.
Freeze functions on classical projectors were very popular, in particular for people facilitating workshops or holding seminars. With the introduction of LCD screens this feature disappeared. Display link could easily re-introduce this. Ideally, hitting a (user-definable) key combination would turn PAUSE on and off. In addition the status (frozen / unfrozen) should be displayed with the application icon.
Please go ahead :-)

We need to be able to select the rendering GPU.
I have 3 GPUs in my computer and the DisplayLink driver always defaults to GPU 0 in the system. I only want GPU 0 to drive a single monitor, and use my secondary GPUs for rendering non-intensive content, which is what I use the USB monitor for.

Internal MBP monitor disabled after opening lid
When using certain applications (namely, any Native Instruments product, e.g. Kontakt and Creator Tools), DisplayLink behaves strangely as reported in another issue.
I'm used to keep the lid closed in order to use the external monitor only. Under certain circumstances, reopening the lid will keep the internal monitor disabled (i.e. black screen). The only workaround for this is hard-reboot.15 votes -
Support for 4k displaymode 1920x1280
Please add display resolution support for BenQ 4k developer displays:
https://www.benq.com/en-us/monitor/programming.html
https://www.benq.com/en-us/monitor/programming/rd280u.htmlThe RD280U has a native display resolution of 3840x2560, which is
a 4K resolution of 1920x1280.The DisplayLink driver 1.11 (macOS) currently only supports
1920x1080 and 1920x1440.1920x1280 is missing.

Auto-Adjust Resolution When Docking
It would be great if DisplayLink could automatically detect and apply the preferred resolution and scaling settings for each connected monitor when docking or undocking a laptop. This would save time and ensure consistent display quality across setups.

DisplayLink Not working after macos 15 sequoia?
Display link dual monitor setup was working perfectly before this update. Now, neither monitor is detected and no signal is being given to the monitors x trench run. Works individually without display link, so I think it's some interaction with that but not sure. lmk if anyone has a solution

Fix the memory leak in driver 5.3.1 for Ubuntu 20.04.1 LTS
This DisplayLink driver will slowly and continuously cache RAM on the system. After about 12 hours, for me it'll consume nearly 8GB of RAM and force a restart. Rinse and repeat.
Can confirm as no memory leak occurs when not using the dock.

See all dockingstations of same type as same device
Hi!
We have installed a multitude of workstations with the same type of DisplayLink docking station. When moving from one station to another, the monitor settings are "forgotten" and the new Dell D6000 is seen as a completely new device, and new drivers and settings for monitors, network and usb are needed to be configured.
Therefore I suggest making it possible to have the driver think that all docks of the same type is also the same device. This will make this problem go away.
Thanks

Make it compatible with resolution 1720 x 1440
I have a Philips screen with the resolution 3440 x 1440. It has the capability to use "Picture By Picture (PBP)" in which you can use two connections and split the screen in half. Then the resolution is 1720 x 1440 for each screen. My Macbook Pro M1 recognizes the resolution natively on one half of the screen, but on the other half the Displaylink does not render the resolution correctly.

Addressing DisplayLink Challenges on Mac Mini M4
As a tech enthusiast, I believe that the integration of DisplayLink technology with the Mac Mini M4 presents both opportunities and challenges. While DisplayLink offers the ability to connect multiple monitors and enhance productivity, users often encounter issues such as driver compatibility, screen flickering, and resolution limitations. These challenges can hinder the overall user experience, particularly for professionals relying on seamless multi-display setups.
In my opinion, Apple should prioritize better support for DisplayLink in future macOS updates to ensure smoother functionality and greater user satisfaction. Improved collaboration between DisplayLink and Apple could lead to a…

Dual screen setup: Laggy vertical screen +DisplayLinkUser Agent eating 100% CPU with a MBP 2019 Intel
Hello,
I have 2 external monitor DELL AW2721D which are QHD (2x 2560x1440p). Both are plugged using HDMI. I can't close my MacBook Pro because you don't support clamshell on Intel Based MBP (sad). It's plugged on a StarTech Dual 4k universal docking station USB-C 100W.
One is horizontal, the other is vertical (90° rotation).
The horizontal screen position monitor runs smooth (moving windows around, moving cursor).PROBLEM: the rotated monitor (90°) is extremely laggy. Even moving the mouse feels laggy.
I've noticed that DisplayLinkUser agent is eating up to 100% of the CPU when moving a windows in…

CPU priority of Displaylink's driver process should be set Higher
Whatever [DisplayLinkManager.exe] or [WUDFHost.exe], when the driver starts it should be set the priority at least to [Above normal], it is really helpful for fixing the laggy problem. Now I only can do it maunally.
