The Issue: When DisplayLink is driving multiple high-resolution displays, the "Quick Info" tooltips and "Member List" dropdowns (standard UI overlays in IDEs) occasionally exhibit a slight flicker or a 100ms delay in rendering compared to the main code editor window. Have you migrated from macOS to Linux?

Hey I've been using a Macbook from my employer for a few years and I had many ups and downs moments with macOS. I find the standard applications really good like mail, calendar, and keynote. The performance of the M series CPU has no equal, specially for notebooks Geometry Vibes. But at the same time I'm a developer and being on Linux is also so good, the window management, being able to use Docker without a VM, and so on.

Need Help: Screen Flickering Error with Windows 11 and Docking Station

I am having an annoying issue with the external monitor randomly flickering when using a DisplayLink splitter.

This happens intermittently but more frequently when I have resource-intensive applications open or I am screen sharing via Zoom.

The second external monitor (or both external monitors block blast) occasionally flickers (turns off and on for 1-2 seconds) and then automatically recovers. The frequency is 5-10 times per hour.
Usually occurs when the CPU/GPU is under heavy load or when performing graphics tasks.

Our Android app works on Oxygen OS today (like the Oneplus 3T), but we believe the Oneplus 2 may not support USB host mode, so cannot connect DisplayLink, (or any other USB device) to it.
Add new controls

Please add Display Controls, specifically Brightness and Contrast adjustments, for Windows 8.1 and above. Incorporating these features into the current DisplayLink taskbar application will significantly enhance user experience. By allowing users to easily adjust brightness and contrast directly from the taskbar, we can improve accessibility and provide greater control over display settings. This enhancement will not only streamline the process for users but also ensure that they can optimize their visual experience based on their preferences and needs. Ubuntu driver 5.3.1 bug

You should correct the Ubuntu driver to create the support frame buffer /dev/fb1
In the last version 5.3.1 installed in Ubuntu 20.04 it's not created.
Without the /dev/fb1 is not possible to set up a multihead system with loginctl.

DisplayLink v5.2.1 , macOS 10.14.6, MacBook Pro 13,3. Memory leak in WindowServer

I am using 1 DisplayLink screen, 3 other external screens (2 HDMI, 1 mini DisplayPort) and the internal laptop screen. I have noticed that over time, the WindowsServer process's memory use slowly creeps up, unless the user logs out and logs in again (restarting the window server) Sleeping the Mac does not prevent this. Eventually, the Mac reports that it is "Out of Application memory" and the computer must be rebooted. This only seems to happen if I use the DisplayLink screen.
This is a relatively recent change. I've been using DisplayLink for many OS X/macOS releases and think that this started when I switched to macOS 10.14.x

Update DisplayLink Driver for macOS to launch automatically and hidden

Hello,

We are finding that the autostart script is not bulletproof. Having this scripted along with our installation in JAMF is successful however if the automatic startup checkbox is accidentally unchecked by the user it will no longer be enabled for automatic startup. The humanscale dock is unusable unless the DisplayLink Manager is launched.

Hotkeys for screen rotation and other display functions

Enable hotkeys for screen rotation (and other display functions). Other drivers use ctrl-alt-left and ctrl-alt-up (etc) to rotate the current screen, this should be available for DisplayLink as well. Phones and tablets have set the bar with seamless screen rotation, DisplayLink should support as near to this experience as possible.

Enable visual accessibility settings for partially sighted users

Both Windows & macOS have tools for applying colour filters to a screen to enable partially sighted users better access to these devices.

These settings are enforced on monitors directly connected to theses devices and were previously supported on prior versions of DisplayLink when using a Mac but are not working currently.

Is there a plan to leverage the built-in OS tools to enable this in the future?

It would be lovely if i could keep up with the latest display link drivers and software using brew or apt-get. I don't think that's super hard... better apple/linux support probably a priority... but yeah. I think you have a huge market with people who want the reliability of Apple and the display real estate offered by display link (since apple wants you to use their wimpy graphics cards, or pay through the nose for $1000 retina displays).

(I have 4 display link driven 24 inch screens connected to my mac, with the 2 supported by my laptop -- it is glorious).

Thanks for the suggestion. For Linux we intend to supply and support a driver for Ubuntu, but have designed it to be repackaged for distribution to other Linux distributions.

We cannot be the experts to maintain this for all Linux distros. We intend to provide the tools to enable it to be ported and added to package managers by those familiar with the particular distro they wish to package it for.

If you have repackaged it for a package manager, please let us know and we can build a list of supported distros.

Update the Android app to support screen rotation. You can switch to portrait mode on my display connected monitor. However, unless I switch to landscape mode, my tablet will always show content in a box. It finishes by filling the screen. Please make it possible for me to use the app when holding the phone in portrait mode so that it can fill the screen of my portrait monitor Foodle. For a little moment, it shows the right thing before spinning completely around.

Is there a way to decompress DisplayLink data on another device?

I would love to be able to forward raw DisplayLink data to another device (running a host OS like Linux/Windows) and decode that data on the device for a live PiP sort-of display. This could enable devices that allow hosting other devices' displays on one single master device. I am a hobbyist looking to create a proof-of-concept device that allows me to control another device from mine. (Focusing on high-ish performance and not using existing tech like Wireless transmission, or other non-native solutions) DisplayLink seems like a perfect candidate currently, since the data is compressed and forwarded to a SoC that does decompression. But I would like another User Computer to do the decompression instead, and display the result directly within that computer.

I would love to be able to forward raw DisplayLink data to another device (running a host OS like Linux/Windows) and decode that data on the device for a live PiP sort-of display. This could enable devices that allow hosting other devices' displays on one single master device. I’d like to suggest a feature to improve multi-monitor setups. Sometimes, when using two or more monitors through DisplayLink adapters, the refresh rates and resolution scaling can feel inconsistent. It would be great to have an option in the DisplayLink software to synchronize refresh rates across all connected monitors and optimize performance for video playback and gaming.

I am having an annoying issue with the external monitor randomly flickering when using a DisplayLink splitter.

This happens intermittently but more frequently when I have resource-intensive applications open or I am screen sharing via Zoom.

I’m fairly new to macOS and just got a MacBook Pro M3 this week.

I’ve connected it to my Dell D6000 docking station using USB-C, which is hooked up to two external monitors (one via HDMI, one via DisplayPort). While the overall experience is great, I would like to propose an optimization (or inquire about a workaround) regarding UI responsiveness in IDEs (Visual Studio/JetBrains) when hardware acceleration is active.

Current Setup:

OS: Windows 11 Pro (Build 22631)

DisplayLink Driver: v11.x (Latest)

Hardware: [Insert your Docking Station model]

Monitors: 2x 4K Monitors at 60Hz

The Goal/Ideal: I am looking for a way to prioritize "latency over throughput" specifically for text-heavy applications. In high-DPI environments, there is a slight "input lag" when scrolling through thousands of lines of code or using heavy plugins like Visual Assist/ReSharper.

My Questions / Suggestions:

Direct Flip / MPO Support: Are there plans to improve Multi-Plane Overlay (MPO) compatibility to reduce the composition overhead on the secondary displays?

Selective Refresh: Is there a registry tweak or a setting in the DisplayLink Manager to prioritize the refresh rate of the "active window" area to ensure zero-lag typing?

Legacy Header Handling: Does the current compression algorithm handle static text-based UI differently than video content to save CPU cycles?

I believe improving the "snappiness" for professional workstations would make DisplayLink the undisputed choice for developers.

Add per-monitor scaling & independent refresh rate control

I would like to suggest adding per-monitor scaling and independent refresh rate control within the DisplayLink software.

Many of us use mixed monitor setups (for example, a 4K laptop screen with 1080p or ultrawide external displays). Right now, Windows often forces the same scaling behavior across multiple DisplayLink monitors, which results in blurry text or inconsistent UI sizes. Native GPU outputs already support per-monitor DPI scaling very well, but DisplayLink outputs do not always behave the same way.

It would be extremely helpful if DisplayLink Manager could:

Allow manual DPI scaling per DisplayLink monitor

Allow independent refresh rate selection per monitor

Store and restore these settings when docks are reconnected

This would greatly improve usability for developers, designers, and anyone using multi-monitor DisplayLink setups for long working sessions.

I’ve been using a MacBook (Apple Silicon) for work for several years. I really appreciate the polish of macOS—apps like Mail, Calendar, and Keynote are excellent, and the M-series performance and battery life are outstanding, especially for a notebook.
At the same time, as a developer, I often miss Linux features:
More flexible window management
Native Docker without relying on a VM
Overall workflow and customization space waves
