  1. Issue Logging tool for Displaylink

    Considering that displaylink is growing in our company we are facing more complications with Displaylink not working on particular models very well like MS surface devices. But it is also now happening to our Dell estate. So maybe DisplayLink can come with a logging tool so that when it is used it creates a dump which we can pass on to help get an answer from you quicker.

  2. TrayIcon should always display if installed

    Suggestion: The DisplayLink Manager TrayIcon should show even if the hardware is not detected. In that case, it should provide links to helpful KB articles (or better yet, include the troubleshooting steps offline).

    That would have saved me about three hours of troubleshooting a 3rd-party (LizTek) product before I finally stumbled on this site.

  3. Fix DisplayLinkManager and driver before it damages my MacBook

    Mojave 10.14.6 with latest DisplayLink driver 5.2 on 2014 MacBook Air. Display is displaying correctly on Dell U2412M 1920x1200 display.

    BUT ...

    DisplayLinkManager is hogging between 70% and 150% of CPU. Macbook fan is going crazy. Just a couple of static web pages on screen, no background tasks. Restarting MacBook sometimes fixes the issue, sometimes not.

    This is not functional software, severely degrades MacBook performance, and can even DAMAGE the MacBook.

  4. Please add a monitor rescan/refresh option

    Sometimes the only way to refresh/rescan connected monitors is to quit displaylink and reopen it. A refresh/rescan menu choice inside of display link menu would be better (Display link 1.2 later MAC OS M1 macs).

  5. DisplayLink 'Screen Sharing' on Mac Hides All Notifications by Default

    On MacOS, "Allow notifications when mirroring or sharing the display" is turned off by default. Since DisplayLink uses the screen-sharing process for external monitors, this causes all system/app notifications to be hidden by default. A regular user might not know why this is happening or how to fix it.

    DisplayLink Manager should either warn the user upon setup or not use the Mac screen-sharing process.

  6. Support of proprietary NVIDIA driver

    On my Ubuntu 20.04, Thinkbook 16p 2Gen, ThinkPad Hybrid USB-C+USB-A Dock combination, DisplayLink driver 5.5.Beta works at least for a hdmi 2560x1440 display together with the proprietary NVIDIA driver version 510.47.03.
    Setting the displays via the kde control panel was not so easy and robust ... with "nvidia-settings" impossible.

    It's okay for me now. So, many thanks for the driver. :-)

    Displaylink driver 5.4.1 did not work at all.

    Is it a coincidence or luck that 5.5.Beta works with the proprietary NVIDIA driver?

    DisplayLink can already support mulitple USB displays connected on Android with the DisplayLink desktop app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.displaylink.desktop.demo&hl=en_GB

    However Android does not have a concept of multiple displays like other OSes. As of Android Pie, a single app can use more than one screen, eg powerpoint uses the phone screen to show presenter notes, and the extended screen shows the presentation.

    For DisplayLink to properly support dual displays on Android, like other OSes, changes would be needed to Android to support multiple displays.

  8. Support for 2304x1296 resolution (macOS)

    I’m using an OWC Dual 4K HDMI adapter on macOS Sonoma and while it works rather well driving my 4K displays, what I’m missing on the displaylink-connected display is support for 2304x1296 resolution (scaled) - it’s otherwise available when the display is connected directly.

    It’s a very nice middle ground between the size of UI elements and sharpness, and the adapter only provides scaled resolutions of 2560x1440 (a bit smallish and fuzzy) and 2048x1152 (sharper, but too big still). Thank you in advance for accommodating this request, which I hope is not too complex to implement, at least…

    First of all, I have to say I love the performance of my base model Mac Mini M4. It’s fast, takes up minimal space on my desk, and runs Adobe apps better than any Windows machine I’ve ever had — even those with 32GB of RAM.

    But I’m having some issues that are driving me nuts.

  10. Create the ability to defined "docked" vs "undocked" profiles for the USB docking station

    In older versions of Windows there use to be a capability to have different profiles for a "docked" PC and an "unlocked" PC. This would be a great capability for you to add into your product since it is now a corporate mandate.

    My main issue is that I set up my desktop the way I like it and then when I either connect the USB or disconnect the USB all my settings are lost and I can't find my desktop icons anymore. This is a negative impact on my productivity.

  12. Please Add an Option to Disable or Customize the DisplayLink On-Screen Display (OSD)

    I would like to request a new feature regarding the on-screen display (OSD) messages that appear when connecting or disconnecting DisplayLink devices. These pop-ups can be distracting, especially during presentations, screen recordings, or when switching between workspaces.

    Details / Concerns:

    Could you please add an option in the DisplayLink Manager to disable the OSD notifications entirely?

    Alternatively, the ability to customize the OSD (position, transparency, duration, or size) would be extremely helpful.

    Many users find the current OSD intrusive, and having control over it would significantly improve the user experience.

  13. Implement Clamshell mode for Big Sur / M1 Chip

    I cannot run external displays while in clamshell mode on Big Sur, while the laptop is open it works perfectly fine.

    The second you close the laptop and enter clamshell mode you lose signal to your external displays.

    This has issue has over 450 votes and has been an issue since August 2020, how long do we have to wait for this to be implemented or is there any work arounds that are currently working?

    This is a major issue that is affecting thousands of users, we haven't had any update since November.... Will this ever be fixed?

    I encountered a Problem with the new version 7.9M3 when opening Office documents from remote Location. I had to remove the "Protected view" functionality or alternatively store the document first on the local drive to be able to open the Office document.

  15. Have the ability to mix 3.5mm headphone jack with 3x 3.5mm surround audio jack via software

    My Toshiba Dynabook uses a DisplayLink-chipset for things like 1x 3.5mm headphone audio output (front) and 3x 3.5mm surround sound audio output (rear; 5.1). When setting Windows to 5.1 audio, the headphone-output only plays the stereo front audio. There should be an option inside the driver-software-interface to switch between different modes: a) headphones/surround are different audio devices, b) headphone should play all 5.1 sounds (the 3x rear audio jacks), c) the current way (just in case somebody wants it that way). Why? I see the headphone output as a way to seamlessly switch between loudspeakers and well quieter headphones.…

    When my macbook pro is set to sleep, and I subsequently wake it up, the two monitors connected through the visiontek dock turn off and I have to restart the computer to get things to work again.

  17. matlab on Mac won't boot up if I use display link dock station

    Matlab stuck on the initial page and freeze, unless I unplug the station and re-open Matlab. Basically if station is plugged in then Matlab won't boot up.

  18. Add support for 5120x1440 resolution

    There are several monitors on the market with such resolution Dell U4919DW, Philips 499P9H, LG 49WL95C-W and Samsung CRG9. At least for Philips 499P9H I'm not able set this resolution with i-tec device on Ubuntu. https://i-tec.cz/de/produkt/u3dual4kdp-3/

  19. DisplayLink not working properly with MacBook Pro M3

    Hello,

    I’m fairly new to macOS and just got a MacBook Pro M3 this week.

    I’ve connected it to my Dell D6000 docking station using USB-C, which is hooked up to two external monitors (one via HDMI, one via DisplayPort). I’ve already installed the DisplayLink Manager app and enabled the Screen Recording permission, but my external displays only work after I log in — there’s no image at the login screen.

    Has anyone else run into this issue or found a workaround?
