Is there a way to decompress DisplayLink data on another device?
I would love to be able to forward raw DisplayLink data to another device (running a host OS like Linux/Windows) and decode that data on the device for a live PiP sort-of display. This could enable devices that allow hosting other devices' displays on one single master device. I am a hobbyist looking to create a proof-of-concept device that allows me to control another device from mine. (Focusing on high-ish performance and not using existing tech like Wireless transmission, or other non-native solutions) DisplayLink seems like a perfect candidate currently, since the data is compressed and…

Have the ability to mix 3.5mm headphone jack with 3x 3.5mm surround audio jack via software
My Toshiba Dynabook uses a DisplayLink-chipset for things like 1x 3.5mm headphone audio output (front) and 3x 3.5mm surround sound audio output (rear; 5.1). When setting Windows to 5.1 audio, the headphone-output only plays the stereo front audio. There should be an option inside the driver-software-interface to switch between different modes: a) headphones/surround are different audio devices, b) headphone should play all 5.1 sounds (the 3x rear audio jacks), c) the current way (just in case somebody wants it that way). Why? I see the headphone output as a way to seamlessly switch between loudspeakers and well…

Android headshot
Update the Android app to support screen rotation. You can switch to portrait mode on my display connected monitor. However, unless I switch to landscape mode, my tablet will always show content in a box. It finishes by filling the screen. Please make it possible for me to use the app when holding the phone in portrait mode so that it can fill the screen of my portrait monitor Foodle. For a little moment, it shows the right thing before spinning completely around.

Improve DisplayLink performance on macOS BigSur (11.1)
I bought the "USB-C Universal Quad 4K (QV4K) Docking Station with 100W Power Delivery" ($500) and three 1440p displays ($1500) to find out my macbook-pro OS version (BigSur - 11.1) has unusable lag with DisplayLink... The mouse cursor is a jarring delay behind the inputs I give and swapping between application windows or workspaces has extreme tearing/stuttering.. looks like its running at about 5 FPS - this is on the recommended monitor resolution too
Really disappointing DisplayLink

Fix DisplayLinkManager taking up to 95% CPU on audio software or causing it not to open at all
On macOS 10.14.6 (2017 MBP with i7, DisplayLink running on i-tec USB-C hub), DisplayLinkManager takes up to 5-10% when supposedly idle. When running audio software - namely, Ableton Live and Reaper, but likely this can reproduced on any audio software and DAW - DisplayLinkManager can take up to one full core (~95% CPU reported). This doesn't seem to be related to the size of the project, so even small projects that take up 15-20% CPU are massively affected by this issue.
Native Instruments Kontakt has an even weirder behaviour:
- restart MBP
- connect external…7 votes -
Work on compatibility w/ Ableton Live 10 (current version crashes Live)
I'm running MacOS 10.13.3 (downgraded from 10.13.4 for reasons that I'm sure you know) on a MacBook Air (13-Inch Mid 2011, 1.8Ghz Core i7, 4 GB RAM) and whenever I have any of your latest (e.g. most recent final releases, two most recent "Betas" to fix the issue with MacOS 10.13.4) it causes Ableton Live 10 (10.0.1) to not load/run.
The main reason that my computer system and I have a DisplayLink in my environment is for making music. I use the two screen setup while working with Live to have my AU and VST plugins visible while tracking.…

Issue with DisplayLink on Windows 11 – External Monitor Not Detected
I recently upgraded my laptop to Windows 11 and have been using a DisplayLink docking station to connect multiple monitors. Everything worked fine on Windows 10, but now one of my external monitors is not being detected at all.
Here’s what I’ve tried so far:
Reinstalled the latest DisplayLink driver from the official space waves website
Updated Windows 11 to the latest cumulative update
Checked all cables and connections (HDMI & USB-C)
Restarted the docking station and laptop multiple times
The monitor still shows “No Signal,” while other connected monitors via the same dock work fine.
Has anyone…

True HDR & 10-bit Color with Per-Monitor ICC Color Management (Windows / macOS / Linux/Wayland)
Please add full HDR (HDR10/HLG) and 10-bit color support to DisplayLink pipelines, with per-monitor ICC color management across Windows, macOS, and Linux/Wayland. Today many DisplayLink setups are effectively SDR/8-bit, leading to banding and inaccurate colors for creators and analysts. Proposed capabilities: (1) end-to-end 10-bit path with HDR metadata passthrough and correct EDID handling; (2) OS-level integration so each DisplayLink monitor can use its own ICC profile (including factory LUTs); (3) a simple on/off toggle with automatic SDR↔HDR switching and safe fallback; (4) minimal added latency and no reduction of max resolution/refresh vs current support. This would…

Temporary disable displaylink adapter even with the cable still plugged in.
Some docking station support both HDMI alt mode and displaylink. I would like to be able to turn off displaylink temporary and switch to HDMI alt mode while leaving the cable plugged.
The reason behind this is that if I leave displaylink on, gaming on integrated graphic card is mostly impossible but I get 4k60 while on the desktop. But then if I turn if off gaming is better (while not great) but then I can only do 4k30 on the desktop.
Being able to switch off displaylink adapter temporarily would allow us to get…

Request for Enhanced Multi-Monitor Resolution and Performance Options
Hello everyone,
I’d like to suggest a few improvements to the DisplayLink feature set that I believe would greatly benefit users with multi-monitor setups, especially those using high-resolution displays and docking stations.
Feature Suggestions:
Improved High-Resolution Support:
Provide more robust handling for 4K and ultra-wide displays at higher refresh rates (e.g., 60 Hz+), particularly when multiple monitors are connected through a single DisplayLink device.Adaptive Performance Optimization:
Introduce an option to dynamically manage bandwidth and performance per display based on workload (e.g., video playback vs. static content ragdoll hit), which could help reduce latency…1 vote -
package ubuntu software properly
Packaging of ubuntu drivers into a .zip file with a name containing lots of spaces, which unzips into the current folder instead of a subfolder, and then requires the manual execution of an installer script (which may as well be called setup.exe), makes ubuntu users feel like we are running Windows again, and reminds us why we hated it so much. Ubuntu offers a superior packaging format (the .deb package), and a repository model which offers streamlined installation, and automatic updates forever. Setting up a repository for your software and packaging it properly will take very little more effort…

Make DisplayLink drivers work with suspend on Ubuntu
My DisplayLink-attached screen went awry after resuming from suspend, and I see that it's a known issue. Not being able to use suspend on a laptop is a major loss of functionality for me.

Allow sharing of multiple screens for NDI Scan Converter
I think this is a DisplayLink limitation, but just installed a Startech 102B multilink for 2 x HDMI extended displays on an M2 Macbook Pro. Displays work great, but unable to send both to NDI Tools Scan Converter. Can only do one or the other. Need to present both a powerpoint slide (extended display 1) and notes (extended display 2). thank you for your consideration!

IOS or Android App which turns a tablet into an USB Monitor
I checked the current IOS apps for the IPAD and wondered, that all the apps need a driver to be installed in PC/MAC.
Is there any app available, which turns an IOS/Android tablet into an USB monitor - like ASUS MB168*, or HP S140U ?
Furthermore it would be great if the touch of the tablet would work as a touch mouse for PC/MAC,
1 voteThere are applications available doing this through wireless and this doesn’t need our technology. For it to work through USB, this would need our chip in the device, so an app is not enough.
Touch is also possible today through other applications or through setups like Windows Continuum. DisplayLink doesn’t have any touch technology, but some manufacturers include touch along with DisplayLink technology in their products. -
MacMini M1 with 11.2.2 (Bigsur) Displaylink not working
Working with a Mac Mini M1 with Bigsur installed (11.2.2) with Displaylink 1.3 without success.
The system works well with 2 monitors. I've tried several combinations: Using one hub and even using the USB-C port from a Blackmagic Ultrastudio mini. All connections from the Hub work (if only two monitors connected). Experimented with many different monitors and adapters USB-C -> VGA / USB-C -> HDMI / USB-C -> DVI. The displaylink is approved in the Privacy Settings (recording and acessibility).
Tried also installing displaylink on a macbook intel and it seems that it does not work also.…5 votes -
Add firmware / version information to the Dock Management Tool
While the firmware update is Silent, in large scale deployments it would be useful to know / be able to report on the Firmware version.
This would enable admins to rule-out old firmware as the cause of faults and detect where an older client is still in use.If this information is readily available it could be added as another command in the Dock Management Tool, or in the Support Info Tool

Would You Like DisplayLink to Support Wireless Docking with Wi-Fi 6E or Wi-Fi 7?
Hey everyone, I’ve been thinking about how DisplayLink technology could evolve beyond wired USB and HDMI setups. With the rise of Wi-Fi 6E and Wi-Fi 7 offering low latency and high bandwidth, wouldn’t it be amazing if DisplayLink supported wireless docking? Imagine connecting your monitor, keyboard, and peripherals seamlessly without a single cable!
I’m curious — do you think a wireless DisplayLink dock would be stable and fast enough for everyday productivity or even light gaming? What potential issues do you think might come up (like latency or interference)?
Would love to hear if anyone else…
