I’m considering a switch between macOS and Linux and would love to hear your experiences.
I’ve been using a MacBook (Apple Silicon) for work for several years. I really appreciate the polish of macOS—apps like Mail, Calendar, and Keynote are excellent, and the M-series performance and battery life are outstanding, especially for a notebook.
At the same time, as a developer, I often miss Linux features:
More flexible window management
Native Docker without relying on a VM
Overall workflow and customization space waves
I don’t use Windows (ads, telemetry, and I don’t game), so my real question is between macOS vs Linux.
Have you migrated from macOS to Linux or from Linux to macOS?
What do you miss most after switching?
How did hardware support (especially DisplayLink, docks, external monitors) work out for you?
Would you make the same choice again?
