    You have left! (?) (thinking…)
How important is this to you?

The clamshell mode works for me with my MBP M1 in combination with a thunderbolt 3 dock. I'm using a HP G2 Thunderbolt dock. The MBP is connected to the dock via USB-C-Thunderbolt 3. The first monitor is directly connected to the DisplayPort whereas the second monitor is connected via an 4K-DisplayLink adaptor to one of the dock's USB3.0-A ports. When I close the laptop lid the DisplayLink monitor keeps working.

As soon as the DisplayDriver driver is active all monitors attached to that Mac (the non-DisplayLink monitors too) can not playback DRM protected content. That really is very inconvenient.
