1. Hotkeys for screen rotation and other display functions

   Enable hotkeys for screen rotation (and other display functions). Other drivers use ctrl-alt-left and ctrl-alt-up (etc) to rotate the current screen, this should be available for DisplayLink as well. Phones and tablets have set the bar with seamless screen rotation, DisplayLink should support as near to this experience as possible.

2. Engage the Linux Foundation to develop your drivers.

   The Linux Foundation is the place to get things into the kernel. They will help you integrate your hardware into the mainline kernel without compromising any internal IP you may be worried about. Its really the only way to get a driver working for any OS. Work with upstream not against it.

   This translates to Windows and OS X as well. I was frustrated getting my device working with Windows. Complete pain and not plug and play by any means. OS X Mojave doesn't work at all and Linux shows the same behaviour. Flickering on and off rapidly an when looking at system logs it seems to be in a constant connect / disconnect rapid loop.

   Open Source the whole driver stack and work with the upstream OS developers to get support built into the kernel will make your hardware plug and play on all operating systems.

3. add support for Ubuntu Touch

   Ubuntu Touch originally developed by canonical is still being developed by ubports.
   I believe it could benefit from display link technology for external display support
   it is currently based on Ubuntu 16.04 LTS and is pretty well supported
   it also uses an android container to interface with userspace drivers

5. Conflicts using Nvidia Prime, Displaylink and Ubuntu

   I would like to describe conflicts using Nvidia Prime, Displaylink and Ubuntu in my experience.

   My environment: Ubuntu 18.10, Nvidia GTX 1070 (nvidia-driver-415), Displaylink 5.1, Asus MB168B+ (USB monitor), laptop Gigabyte Aero15x.

   If I try to login with nvidia profile activated and anything connected in USB ports (even only a mouse), I will face a login loop. It only will stop after disconnecting all USB devices, restarting the system and then I'll be able to login into my Ubuntu. Once logged in, I can connect my USB devices and use everything included my second monitor.

   If I try to login with intel profile activated. There will be no problems. Displaylink works ok.

   Another interesting behavior. If I start up my laptop with all USB devices connected, of course only possible using intel profile; Displaylink will work perfectly. But if instead, during an current session I plug on my external monitor, I will always see blurry and weird definition around the mouse pointer.

   If Displaylink could improve this will help lots of Linux users.

6. Fix glitching mouse pointer in Ubuntu/Arch/Debian

   Hi,
   I've tried the DisplayLink driver using the recommended os (Ubuntu 16.04). After connecting a secondary display (1080p) using USB-C, I had a trail of blinking mouse pointers following the real one and all the animations started glitching.

   When moving the mouse over any Window except the Desktop, there would be a glitching square (about double the edge length of the mouse pointer sprite) containing the desktop background around the mouse pointer.

   I've also tried Arch Linux (using the AUR package) and Debian 9 (Using the Ubuntu package) and they show the exact same behavior.
   On the three operating systems, I've tried Kernel versions 4.19 and 4.20, both having the same issues.

   I have a Thinkpad P1 with a Xeon E-2176M CPU (Intel UHD Graphics P630) and a Nvidia Quatro P2000 Mobile (GP107GLM). I suspect this to be an error related to the hardware I'm using; partially because I tried different operating systems and different kernel versions.

8. Ubuntu driver: using dlm.service is rather unfortunate for a clash with dlm cluster control daemon

10. Xrandr panning on Linux

    I have a 12inch 2880x1920 monitor (eDP-1) and a 21inch (eDP-1) with a 1920x1080 native res. I tried to use

    xrandr --fb 6720x2160 --output DVI-I-2-2 --mode 1920x1080 --right-of eDP-1 --scale 2x2 --panning 3840x2160+2880+0

    and I got:

    X Error of failed request: BadMatch (invalid parameter attributes)
    Major opcode of failed request: 140 (RANDR)
    Minor opcode of failed request: 29 (RRSetPanning)
    Serial number of failed request: 46
    Current serial number in output stream: 46

    I have an Asus t303ua
    with:
    VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation HD Graphics 520 (rev 07) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller])

    Is there a plan to support panning in the future on Linux?

    Would you please be able to detail? The DisplayLink driver is inboxed in Chromebook since R51.

13. More user friendly Windows UI

    General overhaul of DisplayLink UI and installation manual. If I were complete beginner, I probably would have no chance to get it running properly.

    Hello, we have started changing to offer an app from the Windows Store on Windows 10.

14. Enable Using AirPlay, for macOS 10.12.+ Siera Just like is being done on High Siera and Mojave

    I am a video deejay using a Macbook that has a failed GPU so i currently rely on one of your devices to connect to an external display.I upgraded to Mac OS High sierra and realized that my display link driver works differently(blue airplay icon) and i have much better performance now(faster frame rates with mix-emergency & Serato ,transparency on the dock And task bar),thank you for that .But The problem is Mac Os High Sierra is Just too Unstable right now for example due to the failed GPU i have completely disabled it but because of that my laptop does not sleep when l close the lid also when it sleeps it cannot wake the screen when i wake it up also i cannot control the screen brightness worst of all i have experienced 3 complete unrecoverable Os crushes in the past two weeks since finally upgrading to high sierra from mac OS sierra so i`ve reinstalled mac OS sierra and my computer works just fine now but im back to the older functioning display link driver that has better resolution on my external display running natively in 1360*768 resolution but has much much lower frame rates on both mix emergency and virtual DJ video output because it doesn't work like the air play one on high sierra .

    so my suggestion is that you please implement the same airplay idea on high sierra it works much better

    my current display link hardware is a USB 2.0 to dvi ,hdmi and vga (USB 2.0 UGA 17)

15. Work on compatibility w/ Ableton Live 10 (current version crashes Live)

    I'm running MacOS 10.13.3 (downgraded from 10.13.4 for reasons that I'm sure you know) on a MacBook Air (13-Inch Mid 2011, 1.8Ghz Core i7, 4 GB RAM) and whenever I have any of your latest (e.g. most recent final releases, two most recent "Betas" to fix the issue with MacOS 10.13.4) it causes Ableton Live 10 (10.0.1) to not load/run.

    The main reason that my computer system and I have a DisplayLink in my environment is for making music. I use the two screen setup while working with Live to have my AU and VST plugins visible while tracking. Without this software in place my second display is essentially a paperweight.

    It'd be great if you could test later releases with Live 10 so this is actually usable for me.

    I've verified that it's the DisplayLink software by installing and uninstalling the software and being able to successful replicate the problem as expected.

    Please let me know if you would like any logs.

16. Ultrawide resolutions on Android

    HI! I really love this app, truly works like a charm. I have a galaxy S8 and an ultrawide monitor. Unfortunately the app only transmints in 16:9 so there are black edges all around the image, even up and down. It would be really nice to fix it, but still, this is a great app. Hope it gets in soon.     Correction: limitation today is not in DisplayLink application but Android which limits to clone mode. Phones not being Ultrawide means that even at 1080p (the max resolution we have enabled today), we are unable to fill the screen.

17. Quick Fix - Monitor Detected but Disabled

    Pin a topic on extending the desktop when there is a monitor detected but disabled. I cant believe (my fault) I spent so much time with this issue.

18. Create the ability to defined "docked" vs "undocked" profiles for the USB docking station

    In older versions of Windows there use to be a capability to have different profiles for a "docked" PC and an "unlocked" PC. This would be a great capability for you to add into your product since it is now a corporate mandate.

    My main issue is that I set up my desktop the way I like it and then when I either connect the USB or disconnect the USB all my settings are lost and I can't find my desktop icons anymore. This is a negative impact on my productivity.

19. Please use versioning format x.x.xx instead of x.x (xx)

    We are trying to automate software updates and track inventory of DisplayLink drivers in our macOS environment. Trying to parse versions when the value reports as 4.1 (11) or DisplayLink Driver 4.1.11 - Copyright 2003... makes it difficult.

    In the driver Info.plist file, please set the CFBundleShortVersionString key in the x.x.xx format. Even better, clean up the CFBundleGetInfoString
