   I realize there may not be much beyond “upgrade.” I have an older MacBook Pro (mid-2012) with two USB-A ports and two Thunderbolt (2) ports. I’m using a Dell D6000 dock that connects via USB-C (with an included USB-C to USB-A adapter).

   The Mac seems to work with the dock—keyboard, mouse, etc. are all functional, and I can drive two external 1080p displays. However, the performance is poor: the mouse is laggy, window movement is jittery, and interactions generally feel choppy. My hunch is that the connection bandwidth available through the dock/adapter path isn’t sufficient.

   Is there anything I can do to improve this setup? Or is the practical answer that I’m limited by older hardware and the USB-A bandwidth can’t handle what I’m asking? When I plug in a newer Windows laptop (USB-C), the exact same dock and setup works much better. I also have a work laptop from the last Intel-era Mac before Apple Silicon—performance is better, though it still doesn’t feel as fast as running directly on a native display. For my use (mostly browsers and code editors), DisplayLink is usually acceptable.

    After years of using Windows for work, I’m seriously considering migrating fully to Linux for software development. The Among Us constant updates, built-in ads, and background telemetry on Windows are getting frustrating. I’ve heard Linux offers cleaner workflows, better resource control, and great flexibility for coding and automation — especially when using tools like Docker and Git.

14. External Monitor Flickering When Using DisplayLink on Windows 11

    Hi everyone,

    I recently set up a DisplayLink docking station with two external monitors on my Windows 11 laptop. While everything initially worked, I’ve started noticing occasional flickering on one of the monitors whenever I move windows or scroll through webpages.

    I’ve updated both the DisplayLink driver and my graphics drivers to the latest versions, but the issue persists. I’ve tried different cables and ports, and the flickering seems to happen randomly rather than consistently.

    Has anyone else experienced this issue on Windows 11 with DisplayLink? Could it be a driver conflict, or is there a setting I’m missing to stabilize the display? Any advice would be really appreciated!

15. M series Apple Sillicon should utlilize more GPU performance freezing up CPU headroom

    What I noticed is that display link becomes like another window server and on a ecstatic page display link works very well, but to utilize the power of Apple Silicon, I think it would be a great idea that instead of display link utilizing intensive CPU performance issue find the middle ground or specially on max chips. It should utilize the GPU headroom, which would make things run incredibly smoother, but more importantly, things are already running smoothly, but allowing display link to use GPU free up CPU performance.

    I’m wondering: Is it possible for future DisplayLink wheelie life drivers to support per-monitor color calibration (ICC profiles) so each DisplayLink-connected screen can use its own accurate color profile?

    We’re generating leads from LinkedIn, but the quality of our outreach is suffering. Most profiles don’t include emails, company size, or clear job roles, so our messages feel generic.
