Known issues with DisplayLink on macOS 10.12 (Sierra)

As of 10.12.4 and thanks to a series of fixes by Apple, Sierra has the best support for DisplayLink devices since the release of 10.9 Mavericks.
Several issues are outstanding though. Please see below for details.

The following issues have been found on macOS 10.12 and do not currently have a resolution:
  • Corrupted window title bar and widgets. To work around, select System Preferences -> Accessibility -> Display -> Reduce transparency (27244226)
  • Screen corruption in Finder when "Displays have separate Spaces" is disabled in the Mission Control system preference. (29825934)
  • The window server can crash logging our the user when minimising applications, for example iTunes (23182216)
  • A few applications can show corruption and/or missing contents while updating windows contents. Examples are Maps, iBooks and the Dock (15319693, 19090583)
  • Corruption around window borders for Carbon applications, for example Microsoft Office 2011 (18552488)
  • Black menu bar on DisplayLink screens while mirroring (17703682)
  • Apple menu icon misplaced on DisplayLink screens
To help Apple prioritising these issues we advise to open a bug at including the information about your specific set up. For each issue in brackets you can find the relative ID of DisplayLink's entry in the Apple bug reporting system.

macOS 10.12.1 fixed the following issues:
  • Incomplete rendering of window contents in some applications, for example Safari and App Store (27762841)
  • Safari web content crashing when moving window between DisplayLink and internals screen (28277831)
macOS 10.12.2 fixed the following issues:
  • The window server can crash while using Mission Control features (28666654)
  • Black contents in applications windows when moved to a DisplayLink screen (27222605)
macOS 10.12.4 (beta 4) fixed the following issues:
  • On some systems, Internal screen blank at login with password when USB screens are connected (27765729)
