Want to add my frustration here as well, I recently bought a full setup around my work mbp M1 Pro including two 4k monitors, only to find out HiDPI is supported either for the full 4k resolution or 1080p. I do get an option for scaled 2k/1440p resolution, but the text is so blurry it's absolutely useless. Since it's a work laptop, I'm not even allowed to use external software like BetterDummy. Now I'm sitting with a $3500 wfh setup stuck with this absolute shit resolution on my monitors.
