An error occurred while saving the comment An error occurred while saving the comment okv commented@Maciej Ratajczak I think the answer is that Displaylink can not do it. The last response here was the update that it would be in 1.5 Beta 2.
An error occurred while saving the comment okv commentedWe just managed 9 months post when this was reported as started. I guess its a complete rewrite to take this long. Maybe it will see a birthday in another 3 months. I'd suggest that you open source the code and let the community take it on and simply stay with doing the hardware. I'm sure there are some talented people out there that could deliver changes faster.
An error occurred while saving the comment okv commentedWe are about to hit 6 months since the work to deliver the request started.....
An error occurred while saving the comment okv commentedPediction is that scaled HiDPI is not coming to displaylink as its been more than half a year since this page said it would be provided next release. That was a couple of releases ago. Best answer on 2020 M1 is to use betterdummy as that largely solves the issue.
An error occurred while saving the comment okv commentedBetter dummy works flawlessly on my 2020 M1 on a 4k display. As clear as a direct connection. With native displaylink on 4k everything that is scaled is blurry. Sounds like some thing with your better dummy configuration.
An error occurred while saving the comment okv commentedmy guess is that displaylink ignores this forum. Last response was 4 months ago and the release delivered nothing.
An error occurred while saving the comment okv commentedThis thread is a open source solution to those using displaylink and waiting for this feature request for the last year. Solution works well and produces a non-blurry resolution for scale displays on a M1 MBP. Go grab that and your done.
An error occurred while saving the comment okv commentedNew Mac arrived. Sharp Dual Displays again!! It is wonderful. Now to sell off this D6000 dock.
An error occurred while saving the comment okv commentedI'll try this before my current M1 Mac goes away. Just think what could have been achieved if DisplayLink Drivers were Open Sourced. This could of been delivered much earlier potentially. Instead just need some one else to do it.
An error occurred while saving the comment okv commentedSo obviously the answer is that they are waiting for Apple to decide if they will support it would be my guess. The only real answer here is trade in and upgrade your previous M1 to a new device. It is very possible you can be waiting another year if not longer.
An error occurred while saving the comment okv commentedNew MBP has finally shipped. Can not wait to get back a proper second screen that scales.
An error occurred while saving the comment okv commented2 weeks now until my new mac arrives which supports multiple native displays. Apple created new hardware in less time than this request has been outstanding.
An error occurred while saving the comment okv commentedWell I've fixed my M1 with displaylink problems I hope. Ordered a new Mac that will natively drive 2 displays so I can remove displaylink. Now just need to wait the month until delivery.
An error occurred while saving the comment okv commentedand now the forum is back.
An error occurred while saving the comment okv commentedSo looks like no forums any more. Maybe want to remove the tab from this page when you remove the information that Displaylink 1.5 was going to deliver 2560x1440 HiDPI.
An error occurred while saving the comment okv commentedSeems displaylink forums are now dead. Webserver gone.
An error occurred while saving the comment okv commentedCan we remove the notes about DisplayLink Manager 1.5 beta 2 adding new modes because the topic is M1 and the 1.5 release did not deliver this on M1. Seems out of place completely.
An error occurred while saving the comment okv commentedwell looks like a bit more wait to get a new M1 to get dual displays. ;(
An error occurred while saving the comment okv commentedThink the response here is that this request will never be fulfilled either because of Apple issues or Displaylink issues. Close to a year after the request so looks like its never going to happen. Just waiting and hoping the m1x has 2 display support to remove the need for this 3rd party use.
An error occurred while saving the comment okv commentedJust waiting for potential new mac announcement this week. If that supports dual monitors natively then there will be a solution. Trade in time and change to where there is no dependency on a 3rd party.
An error occurred while saving the comment okv commented@Yo Jan Hong all I can say is look at the date of the original request and todays date to gauge progress. There has been rumors of it being fixed in various updates from displaylink but nothing eventuated. There is a another rumour it may be fixed in macos12. More rumous and nothing official. You can not solve the fuzzyness with displaylink on a M1 unless your on 1920x1080p. This is what the current technology is capable of. Personally, I'm waiting for the M1X which is rumored announcement is 7th September and availability end of September to see if it supports dual monitors. If so I'll be trading a M1 in and getting rid of my dock.
An error occurred while saving the comment okv commented@Yo Han Hong it is supported but only at low res. If you have a 4k monitor it will mean the text is fuzzy.
An error occurred while saving the comment okv commentedRead a rumour article last night that new Macs are planned for September! I'll be the first to sign up to remove this issue of a single good display and a blurry display with displaylink. Hurry up apple and provide a fix with new hardware.
An error occurred while saving the comment okv commentedAfter a year I believe the best option is to remove the 3rd party dependency altogether if the opportunity arises. If Apple release M1X with native multiple external screen support I'm trading in the M1. Seems the only way to get a reliable outcome that does not takes years to achieve. M1 was never intended to do multiple external monitors and this is showing through on how long its taking to get HiDPI on 4k monitors with Displaylink Technology. Time to move on in a couple of months hopefully.
An error occurred while saving the comment okv commentedwaiting till the M1X to trade in the current M1 so I can move away from this technology. Seems to be the only answer for M1 Mac to get multi-screens is to wait for Apple to deliver it. Cross fingers M1X supports multiple displays then I can sell this dock.
An error occurred while saving the comment okv commented@anonymous I agree. If it can not be done don't sit there and ignore your customers but tell them the straight answer. Or if displaylink don't have the resources to do this just opensource the driver.
okv supported this idea ·An error occurred while saving the comment okv commentedMultiple 4K monitors and M1 are an unfortunately not a compatibility item with displaylink unless you run it native and like extremely small text.
Happy birthday to the work commencing to provide 2560x1440 HiDPI support. Must be extremely complicated given the fact that it is taking so long to provide the capability. Maybe best to open source and get a community to support the code.
