Black screens on macOS High Sierra 10.13.4+ and Mojave 10.14 Early Previews
The driver (DisplayLink Installer 4.1.11) doesn't work anymore withe macOS High Sierra bêta 10.13.4 (17E139) and newer.
Dear DisplayLink macOS users,
We are pleased DisplayLink 5.0.1 driver for macOS enables multiple extended display support on the latest Apple macOS 10.14.2 with additional features (clamshell and clone). We continue our strong support for the Mac platform and are working on delivering future updates with further performance improvements.
Driver 5.0.1: https://www.displaylink.com/downloads/file?id=1257
If your DisplayLink enabled device does not seem to work on 10.14, this is most likely due to the OS blocking our kernel extension. Please ensure our kernel extension is enabled by the OS as described in our FAQ: https://support.displaylink.com/knowledgebase/articles/1188004
Should you still miss extended displays on latest macOS with latest DisplayLink driver, please create a support ticket so your particular case can be investigated. Here is how: https://support.displaylink.com/knowledgebase/articles/755301
Due to changes in 10.13.4-10.13.6, it is not possible to enable DisplayLink extended displays, except one using Apple AirPlay. If your Mac is from 2011 running 10.13.4-10.13.6 and can’t update to macOS 10.14, you should remain with DisplayLink macOS driver v4.3.1 to enable one extended USB display using AirPlay, with additional displays cloned. An FAQ details how to enable Apple AirPlay with DisplayLink display for extend or mirror mode: https://support.displaylink.com/knowledgebase/articles/1854724
Audio and Ethernet functionality, where supported, stays unaffected in all versions.
We thank you for your feedback on DisplayLink products that helps us further improve our product offering.
Kind regards,
Alban

The blame is half and half. Apple just loves screwing over third-party developers. On the other hand Displaylink knew since February that this update would not work with their adapters and didn't make any announcements on their website advising not to upgrade until a solution was found. They probably talked to Apple to reconsider this update implementation. But Apple didn't give a crap so here we are. Take a seat cause this is going to take a while, they have to pretty much completely redesign the way their adapters work, they don't even know if there's a way to actually fix it. Apple sucks more every day and is only screwing their customers so we buy their overpriced monitors. For now, I'd advise to lose a day of work during the week and revert back to 10.13.1 oh and disable automatic updates!!

Completely unacceptable. This is not a $10 penne of equipment. We have waited long enough. Are you willing to refund for the product. The productivity we are losing is now worth a multiplier of 100 of the cost.

Another day and no extended mode ...
Incredible
Is this a joke or seriously DisplayLink can't solve this?
What they want us to do, wait forever for a patch?
Is this chat their customer support service solution?
This is like their beta, useless. -

that said, I dropped them for DisplayLink because they were having the same or similar issues with Mac OS updates that DisplayLink faces. In their situation they didn't even have a driver for anything outside the USB functionality

Yes, clone mode is useless in most case, and waiting support of exteded mode. -

I'm thinking with the beta driver's feature "allowing to select which screen is cloned in a multiple display setup" I can clone my built-in macbook display (which I wasn't using before) to my displaylinked monitor.
But it's not clear to me how the choice of which monitor to clone can be made. I can see my main desktop (with dock - connected via thunderbolt) cloned in my displaylinked monitor, but that's not the one I want cloned, I want the built-in display cloned. I don't want to move my dock to the built-in because the resolution is so much less and I don't want to use it as my main display.

ethernet is now super slow. This is becoming a slow death of my dock. Please post something. At least, we are working on it, go kick cans and leave us alone...something!

Honestly this is almost bordering on a refund level.... I've been without extended mode for about 3 weeks now. You need to fix this. Also I'm having ethernet problems as well.

Hi everyone. Since updating my MacBook Pro to 10.13.4 I have been unable to connect via the ethernet port. Anyone else having issues with ethernet connectivity? Thanks.

can the title be updated to show that this isn't a beta issue, but is now a problem with the live OS?

@ Trevor thanks for the information!
I am trying to get back to having my dual external monitors after 10.13.4 killed the DisplayLink driver and it sounds like the TS2 isn't going to work :( I guess I will have to keep searching for alternatives or wait for the fix from DisplayLink, but I appreciate you taking the time to provide that update.
