Black screens on macOS High Sierra 10.13.4+ and Mojave 10.14 Early Previews
The driver (DisplayLink Installer 4.1.11) doesn't work anymore withe macOS High Sierra bêta 10.13.4 (17E139) and newer.
Dear DisplayLink macOS users,
We are pleased DisplayLink 5.0.1 driver for macOS enables multiple extended display support on the latest Apple macOS 10.14.2 with additional features (clamshell and clone). We continue our strong support for the Mac platform and are working on delivering future updates with further performance improvements.
Driver 5.0.1: https://www.displaylink.com/downloads/file?id=1257
If your DisplayLink enabled device does not seem to work on 10.14, this is most likely due to the OS blocking our kernel extension. Please ensure our kernel extension is enabled by the OS as described in our FAQ: https://support.displaylink.com/knowledgebase/articles/1188004
Should you still miss extended displays on latest macOS with latest DisplayLink driver, please create a support ticket so your particular case can be investigated. Here is how: https://support.displaylink.com/knowledgebase/articles/755301
Due to changes in 10.13.4-10.13.6, it is not possible to enable DisplayLink extended displays, except one using Apple AirPlay. If your Mac is from 2011 running 10.13.4-10.13.6 and can’t update to macOS 10.14, you should remain with DisplayLink macOS driver v4.3.1 to enable one extended USB display using AirPlay, with additional displays cloned. An FAQ details how to enable Apple AirPlay with DisplayLink display for extend or mirror mode: https://support.displaylink.com/knowledgebase/articles/1854724
Audio and Ethernet functionality, where supported, stays unaffected in all versions.
We thank you for your feedback on DisplayLink products that helps us further improve our product offering.
Kind regards,
Alban

Anonymous at 8.40, you’re being irrational. The API used by DisplayLink has been broken by Apple. It’s a major regression on Apple’s part, not DL.

I'm pretty much back to where I was with thee separate monitors on my mac air before mac os update. The only difference is that I may need to plug out and in the USB port. It has been working about a week.

So after about 7 weeks, we still have no fix. Funniest part of this thread is how people blame Apple. Sure, early on they were part of the blame but 7 WEEKS LATER and DisplayLink has not fixed the problem? Sorry but it's THEIR fault at this time. If you want your JUNK to work on any platform, you must adhere to the requirements of it for your JUNK to work! It's as simple as that. Either they truly don't know how to fix this OR they are HOPING that with the next OS release from Apple, that it'll be fixed. My thought is the latter where they want Apple to release a new OS with a solution. There is ABSOLUTELY NO EXCUSE for this to have gone on this long. If you want, I can recommend some fantastic programmers that I know that likely can fix this if you just give them access to the source code. It would put you all out of work lol

I have a 2011 Mac Mini, with one 1080HD monitor on HDMI and another on DVI, with the third on displaylink USB. With beta 3 I am back where I was before this trouble, and unlike some have written, AirPlay works for me and is stable. I've had it plugged in and working for several days and counting with no problem. When I reboot (which I do weekly), I'll make sure to unplug it until after it is back up and running.

Works flawlessly if you follow the instructions, utilize patience, and keep it unplugged while booting. If you are having issues you are simply not reading the how-to page or you are keeping it in while you boot....

The system jumps out of Airplay mode every 5 minutes and reverts back to clone... Doesn't really work to have to re-click mirror every 5 minutes.

@Will Daniel actually it is there fault. Did they let you know before it happened when they knew month's ago when the first Beta came out? That is why Apple has Beta's so the developers like DisplayLink can be prepared and inform their customers or work on a fix prior. This is not the first time DisplayLink has done this. This happened in 2011 with this company also. It's a poor business model. Do they continue to let their vendors sell devices that don't work? Yes Unethical.

I have the same problem for about 5 weeks and I still waiting for a solution, Why anyone don´t answer or give us a solution, this is bad for displaylink.
All we want is a solution to this miserable situation. I have the administration waiting 5 weeks to a solution, when before the upgrade I said "this is the best solution" and now, they say to me "This is the worst solution"....
Very bad...

Months have went by now without any real resolution here.
Just installed the newest beta 3 to get my 1 extended screen back, yet it doesn't work.
Feels great. I guess I'm just going to have to find another way to drive my displays.

Why does apply keep doing this with third party tools?
I will not be coerced into spending more money on any additional overpriced Apple branded hardware, I might as well go back to Windows.
In the meantime I will wait until DisplayLink comes up with a solution. -

It hurts me the amount of stupidity in these comments... This is not Displaylink's fault. APPLE made changes to their OS which caused these issues. Displaylink deserves a huge THANK YOU for the work you are putting into this issue.

Thanks John Miller, your step through in the May 11, 2018 21:50 post worked for me.
MacBook Air owner, purchased Dec 2017. So I'm really up a creek here if these DisplayLink Yahoos don't figure this out...

Made the investment (getting the real Apple HDMI interface adapter).
And The Lenovo DISPLAYLINK shit went into the bin.And now all works as a charm.

The key is when you reboot you must take the cable out of the displaylink unit. Let your mac boot fully, then plug in... it will then go back to the config you had. Do not restart with the unit plugged in or you will get a serious clone mode loop.... no need to uninstall.... simply plug it in after boot and wait for it to do it's thing... it is not instant nor does it look like it is working... until it does.

My DisplayLink device was worked for only one day and only mirror mode is available after that.
I kind of solved the problem by uninstall the drive, reinstall it and follow the procedure again.
Now, my extend mode comes back but I am not sure whether it will become mirror mode later

So what about the users who own Akai products such as the MPC Touch which rely on your drivers to work in order to use the hardware ? The air display is not compatible with their software.
