Black screens on macOS High Sierra 10.13.4+ and Mojave 10.14 Early Previews
The driver (DisplayLink Installer 4.1.11) doesn't work anymore withe macOS High Sierra bêta 10.13.4 (17E139) and newer.
Dear DisplayLink macOS users,
We are pleased DisplayLink 5.0.1 driver for macOS enables multiple extended display support on the latest Apple macOS 10.14.2 with additional features (clamshell and clone). We continue our strong support for the Mac platform and are working on delivering future updates with further performance improvements.
Driver 5.0.1: https://www.displaylink.com/downloads/file?id=1257
If your DisplayLink enabled device does not seem to work on 10.14, this is most likely due to the OS blocking our kernel extension. Please ensure our kernel extension is enabled by the OS as described in our FAQ: https://support.displaylink.com/knowledgebase/articles/1188004
Should you still miss extended displays on latest macOS with latest DisplayLink driver, please create a support ticket so your particular case can be investigated. Here is how: https://support.displaylink.com/knowledgebase/articles/755301
Due to changes in 10.13.4-10.13.6, it is not possible to enable DisplayLink extended displays, except one using Apple AirPlay. If your Mac is from 2011 running 10.13.4-10.13.6 and can’t update to macOS 10.14, you should remain with DisplayLink macOS driver v4.3.1 to enable one extended USB display using AirPlay, with additional displays cloned. An FAQ details how to enable Apple AirPlay with DisplayLink display for extend or mirror mode: https://support.displaylink.com/knowledgebase/articles/1854724
Audio and Ethernet functionality, where supported, stays unaffected in all versions.
We thank you for your feedback on DisplayLink products that helps us further improve our product offering.
Kind regards,
Alban

For a moment there, I actually thought that we were nearing the end of this ordeal. Then I saw the date on the press release.

@Jason Hayes: DisplayLink is a smaller company than Apple. So if you want Apple and DisplayLink to work together, you have to write this to Apple.
If Apple does not care about DisplayLink, and it very much looks like that, then DisplayLink cannot do much about getting an invitation to work with Apple. -

Please, please, please get this fixed. I know you "DisplayLink" have no control on a third party OS and their development, but please can you work with Apple to test any new OS Update from now on, so this doesn't happen again? You must be able to get Beta (early) versions to enable you to test any new OS's before it makes it to a release. Again please, please, please get this fixed, are you close to getting a fix?

Hey there, I took the plunge and bought an Asus portable monitor that uses DisplayLink to connect to Mac OS. I was aware there was an issue, but said what the hell, I'll just return it to Amazon if it doesn't work. Well I'm on High Sierra 10.13.4 and using the v4.3 beta 4 with the AirPlay fix and it works like a charm.
Just wanted to write this in case anyone was holding off on buying a display due to this issue. It is working great, at least for me. I have a fresh install of 10.13.4 and had not other versions of DisplayLink installed before v4.3 beta 4, so maybe that makes a difference. Regardless, I am happy :)

I agree with the Class Action. I have bought several of these for my employees MBP's and it's affecting my business.

Hello everyone. I just tested this on 10.13.5 Beta 5 and IT STILL DOESN'T WORK! I genuinely think these guys don't have a clue how to fix this. Class Action sounds good right about now....

Begs the question, what are your devs doing other than crippling sales margins and causing kernel panic? Your customers are all gone or faith lost. CLASS ACTION

The latest version worked for me. I had to follow the instructions stated as well as unplug, restart, plug and restart again before the option for airplay showed up.

@Alban
I think 30% of angry customers here will be at least 50% satisfied if you put some human touch in your driver status update note here instead of copy/paste of what we read for past months.
Also, You don't mention new beta of MacOs and did this temporary fix even working or will it work on a new update which is just around the corner. You must understand that many of us need to update our system because of security. Hope You guys at DL working on that...if not well...you don't need to have crystal ball to see the effect of that...

i'm able to create a less-than-ideal but working setup with beta 4. two external monitors + laptop screen on my macbook air (one displayport + hdmi via usb3 hub). i wish i could rotate... but what's really annoying right now is everytime i unplug and plug back in - the external monitor via usb takes forever sometimes to turn back on and 3 out of 4 times the background goes back to the default high sierra and my other screens seem to play musical chairs on which background it wants to be of my original settings. i know that's super minor in the grand scheme of things but makes me wonder what's happening behind the scenes with my computer and these display settings with this driver?
