Black screens on macOS High Sierra 10.13.4+ and Mojave 10.14 Early Previews
The driver (DisplayLink Installer 4.1.11) doesn't work anymore withe macOS High Sierra bêta 10.13.4 (17E139) and newer.
Dear DisplayLink macOS users,
We are pleased DisplayLink 5.0.1 driver for macOS enables multiple extended display support on the latest Apple macOS 10.14.2 with additional features (clamshell and clone). We continue our strong support for the Mac platform and are working on delivering future updates with further performance improvements.
Driver 5.0.1: https://www.displaylink.com/downloads/file?id=1257
If your DisplayLink enabled device does not seem to work on 10.14, this is most likely due to the OS blocking our kernel extension. Please ensure our kernel extension is enabled by the OS as described in our FAQ: https://support.displaylink.com/knowledgebase/articles/1188004
Should you still miss extended displays on latest macOS with latest DisplayLink driver, please create a support ticket so your particular case can be investigated. Here is how: https://support.displaylink.com/knowledgebase/articles/755301
Due to changes in 10.13.4-10.13.6, it is not possible to enable DisplayLink extended displays, except one using Apple AirPlay. If your Mac is from 2011 running 10.13.4-10.13.6 and can’t update to macOS 10.14, you should remain with DisplayLink macOS driver v4.3.1 to enable one extended USB display using AirPlay, with additional displays cloned. An FAQ details how to enable Apple AirPlay with DisplayLink display for extend or mirror mode: https://support.displaylink.com/knowledgebase/articles/1854724
Audio and Ethernet functionality, where supported, stays unaffected in all versions.
We thank you for your feedback on DisplayLink products that helps us further improve our product offering.
Kind regards,
Alban

Dear @Alban Rampon... why post something new with no solution (basically repeating the same thing since 4 months). Ridiculous .

Very disappointed by this. ALSO, page for Mac is still saing "Important Information about macOS 10.13.4 update" ... hello...??? It's 10.13.5 by now (since two weeks...). Seems to me Displaylink doesn't care about customers. So, goodbye.

The airplay option works halfway is super blurry and after couple months since this issue began and have no real solution is starting to irritate my vision the question here is, do we need to go blind before you fix this issue?
This has been going on for way to long.
What's the point to buy a devices that says MacOS compatible if is not maybe should add Maybe if you are lucky will be MacOS compatible.

If you do not have an update, don't post one. Who the hell is giving you advice on how to manage your communications? Clearly no one.
Here is some free advice: go hire a public relations company that helps with crisis management.
It is insane to do the same thing over and over and expect different results. You have posted the same update many time and have seen how mad it makes your customer base. Yet, you continue to do it.
Way to go on your efforts to gather and maintain support for your products and business practices. What a joke.

I have followed the instructions for Airplay... I uninstalled, and reinstalled the v4.3 beta 5. I set my system preferences/Privacy as the instructions said and rebooted, but when I click on Airplay, DisplayLink does not show up for me. What am I doing wrong?

This has been in a 'started' state since April 6th and since then there's basically only been a half-assed attempt at mirroring that only works on one screen. macOS 10.13.4 has been out for months now, (the beta has been out since February, even, so you could have known then.) How long do you actually expect people to wait?

To "Anonymous" (lol) upgrading to 10.13.5 does NOT break the fix, at least for me. So don't assume it will break it for others, just because you're having a problem. I'm willing to bet you didn't fully uninstall first ;-) but that's just an educated guess. The Beta 5 driver is working good for me and stable. This is on a 2011 Mac Mini Server with three monitors - one on HDMI, one on DisplayPort and one on USB/Displaylink. You are limited to 720p or 1080p, but fortunately this monitor is 1080p so it is native resolution and looks good.

I just got the June 20th update email. It was the same as the June 12th email. Frequent contact with customers is good except when you just repeat the same thing.

Agreed - this is getting ridiculous! I have a new 2nd monitor, costing over £250 that is currently sitting idle.

The AirPlay approach continues to work on 10.13.5, only for one additional display. Those of us that need two additional displays via DisplayLink are still out of luck.

Software: DisplayLink driver v4.3 beta 5
Second monitor: ASUSInstalled v4.3 beta 5
Result: Black screenFix:
1. Unplugged Pluggable adapter from Mac.
2. Uninstalled DisplayLink software. Applications folder > DisplayLink folder > Run DisplayLink Uninstaller.
3. Reboot macine.
4. Install driver v4.3 beta 5
5. System preferences > Security & Privacy > "Allow apps downloaded from” (I forgot what the message said, but it was something about having to approve the software)
6. Rebooted machine again.
7. Followed directions; https://support.displaylink.com/knowledgebase/articles/1854724Thanks to Ronald for providing instruction below. Everything works great now. Well except for the H button on my keyboard isn't fully responsive. Thankfully that's not DisplayLink's fault.

Fix worked fine on 10.13.4, but I stupidly allowed my mac to upgrade to 10.13.15. Now the fix is broken!
The latest post says the fix will work on 10.13.4, 10.13.5 and even 10.14 developer preview.
I can confirm that upgrading from 10.13.4 to 10.13.5 will BREAK THE FIX. My 2nd external monitor is an HP L2445m (same as the first) and is connected via a USB 2.0 adapter.

Word on the street is that DisplayLink is throwing in the towel... True? Does this explain the infrequent updates and not giving a flip about the customers that bought the product??

Hi Ronald,

I think this "don't remember the mirror/extend mode" is fixable by the displaylink agent. If the DL team wants to make some progress, please release another beta driver which remembers the mirror/extend mode settings.

So, found a less-than-ideal, but still working solution. I have a MacBook Pro, mid 2012, 2 HP22cwa monitors. Bought a Belkin Thunderbolt 2 Express dock. Used my Displaylink to VGA, plugging the display link into the Belkin USB3, and an HDMI to my monitor HDMI. And it works! Perfectly. Not sure it should, but it does.
Grabbed the Express Dock from Walmart, $189 (but I think I saw some refurbs cheap).

I must say tho that Alban's words do make me laugh:
"Our team made solid progress towards finding a solution which would restore full extended display support for multiple DisplayLink displays in a future release of macOS."
The people responding on this thread have made MORE progress and gave more support than what I have seen in "solid progress" from the DL team(?).
The only progress I see is a halfhearted update on a message - sort of bi-weekly (or weakly) - that has been around for a while now.
No one has patience anymore, that has passed. As has the belief in a permanent solution. The fact that I AM able to use three screens (just like Ronald) is purely down to the responders here.
I am glad I only paid 10 euro for the dock. Given the ACTUAL performance I don't feel it is worth any more than that.

To answer some of your questions :
1) DisplayLink driver v4.3 beta 5
2) macOS High Sierra, version 10.13.4
3) MBP 13 inch late 2011
4) Two external LG 32 screens
5) 3 screen setup ( including the MBP), no mirroring all extended display
6) one LG screen via DP, the other LG screen via DisplayLink device via USB port.My setup works via Airplay, which is set up as "Use as Separate Display" and Airplay to "DisplayLink".
I have to admit that it work flawless, however one issue that I have noticed. When I reboot my MBP I need to disconnect the DL adapter. Leave it disconnected until the MBP is fully started only than you should reconnect the DL adapter.
Hope this helps others.

We are on 10.13.5 and no fix yet ?!?!?!?!?

The fix works on some models / dock setups, doesn't work well on others... I have a 2017 MBP and a D6000 dock, and have to go to display properties and choose change 'Airplay display' to display link... twice... before it works properly with a single monitor. Then sometimes my mac display does not have the correct resolution still... sometimes it does...
I guess you DisplayLink / Apple just flat for got to test their updates with 10.13.4? Testing is important as we see here... there is this thing called ITIL, I highly recommend checking it out and implementing it guys...
