Black screens on macOS High Sierra 10.13.4+ and Mojave 10.14 Early Previews
The driver (DisplayLink Installer 4.1.11) doesn't work anymore withe macOS High Sierra bêta 10.13.4 (17E139) and newer.
Dear DisplayLink macOS users,
We are pleased DisplayLink 5.0.1 driver for macOS enables multiple extended display support on the latest Apple macOS 10.14.2 with additional features (clamshell and clone). We continue our strong support for the Mac platform and are working on delivering future updates with further performance improvements.
Driver 5.0.1: https://www.displaylink.com/downloads/file?id=1257
If your DisplayLink enabled device does not seem to work on 10.14, this is most likely due to the OS blocking our kernel extension. Please ensure our kernel extension is enabled by the OS as described in our FAQ: https://support.displaylink.com/knowledgebase/articles/1188004
Should you still miss extended displays on latest macOS with latest DisplayLink driver, please create a support ticket so your particular case can be investigated. Here is how: https://support.displaylink.com/knowledgebase/articles/755301
Due to changes in 10.13.4-10.13.6, it is not possible to enable DisplayLink extended displays, except one using Apple AirPlay. If your Mac is from 2011 running 10.13.4-10.13.6 and can’t update to macOS 10.14, you should remain with DisplayLink macOS driver v4.3.1 to enable one extended USB display using AirPlay, with additional displays cloned. An FAQ details how to enable Apple AirPlay with DisplayLink display for extend or mirror mode: https://support.displaylink.com/knowledgebase/articles/1854724
Audio and Ethernet functionality, where supported, stays unaffected in all versions.
We thank you for your feedback on DisplayLink products that helps us further improve our product offering.
Kind regards,
Alban

this issue was logged in the 2nd week of spring. Now we are hitting the summer season without a fix or even any context of when/if a fix might be available! :(

All,
I already have posted this before and I'm just trying to help out the ones struggling to get this beta driver working ... ( again, I am not associated with DisplayLink in any shape or form, so please do not start flaming me here ..... )
My setup :
1) DisplayLink driver v4.3 beta 5
2) macOS High Sierra, version 10.13.4
3) MBP 13 inch late 2011
4) Two external LG 32 screens
5) 3 screen setup ( including the MBP), no mirroring all extended display
6) one LG screen via DP, the other LG screen via DisplayLink device via USB port.My setup works via Airplay, which is set up as "Use as Separate Display" and Airplay to "DisplayLink".
I followed exactly this article : https://support.displaylink.com/knowledgebase/articles/1854724
One issue that I have noticed. When I reboot my MBP I need to disconnect the DL adapter. Leave it disconnected until the MBP is fully started only than you should reconnect the DL adapter.
Check the posting by Jason on June 19, 2018 15:05 : I also found that after reboot, it goes back to mirror mode. If you click on the airplay Icon on the top bar and select "display link", it will switch back to extend mode.
Check the posting by Anonymous on June 20, 2018 02:06 "
In my experience it is important when you disconnect/connect the DL adapter, because I found out that it screws up the configuration/setup.
Secondly I can not speak for other MBP models, but as stated above my version of the MBP works.
Hope this helps .....

Their solution with Beta 5 driver works for 2 monitors but for folks like me with 4-5 monitors, it will continue to be dongle city for the laptops to get them all working. If only you could see my Frankenstein setup with these dongles lol

Andy, this is NOT Apple's issue. DisplayLink has to figure out how to hire people who know how to work with a new API. This started back in January so yes, it was at one point Apple's fault but after a solid 5 months, it's no longer their fault but the fault of DisplayLink and their inability to get useful programmers to fix this.
This also does not work on 10.13.5 either so DisplayLink appears to not have any clue how to fix this and I'll bet they end up writing a whole new driver altogether to resolve the issue rather than fixing what is already in place. It just feels like that's where it's going. DL has has MONTHS to fix this for the current OS release AND they had time during the beta versions of the OS to get it working but apparently, they don't test, as evidenced with 10.13.5.
I conclude they have no idea what to do or they have a lot of programmers who like to complain and point fingers at Apple like you appear to be doing. 5-7 months to fix this is more than enough time to say this is no longer Apple's fault.

Hi - Looking for a permanent solution to this , as the screen does not replicate to full size of the second screen, it defeats the purpose of using this large second display.
Any... ANY solution is welcomed......

My MacBook Air has updated to MacOS 10.13.5 and now my second display won't work again. I have the DisplayLink driver v4.3 beta 5 dowloaded, but it's not bringing up the Airplay anymore for the second display. Is anyone else having this issue?

Has there been any talk of a class action for providing a product while knowing the underlying OS was going to change and they wouldn't have a fix?

How it is possible all manufactures that integrate displaylink chipset aren't hungry? Actually i was searching for new device and i found only product with a red note: Currently Not Supported on Mac OS 10.13.4 (https://www.diamondmm.com/product/ds6950-5k-ultra-docking-station/).
Our company was planning to buy 100 new docking with displaylink, but this major issue and the incapacity to solve this in a reasonable time.
We was testing the Dell D6000 but after multitude of problems with our mac user we are thinking to buy usb c displays with less expensive docking. The only think that can change our mind is that display link found fast a real solution! -

Hi Guys, using a MacBook Air that has been upgraded to 10.13.5, however, the Beta 5 update doesn't seem to work with AirPlay? I have another MacBook Air that is using 10.13.4 on the Beta 5 update which is working with AirPlay... can you shed any light on this?

IT WORKS!!!!!!!! Thank you so much for this fix!!!! Guys double check on your settings under airplay and select AirPlay display link, then Use As Separate Display. It will show up under Mirror display first and you just need to adjust :o)
Hope this works for most if not everyone with airPlay.
