Hi Nona. Jake Hilborn programmed a great tool to fix this which has worked well for me. https://github.com/jakehilborn/displayplacer. On MacOS, download the tool, in terminal run 'displayplacer list', copy the output , create a file and paste the result, and add it to login items. I recommend adding a sleep line at the beginning to avoid running before DisplayLink has had time to set up.
