Support rotation on M1 Macs
Update to enable rotation to work correctly on M1 Macs.

DisplayLink Manager 1.6 or newer (https://synaptics.com/products/displaylink-graphics/downloads/macos) on macOS 12 Monterey now enables display rotation on Apple M1 computers (details in https://support.displaylink.com/knowledgebase/articles/1984314 )
For issues with this new functionality, please reach out to Technical-Enquiries@Synaptics.com so the team can investigate through a technical support ticket.

Hello everyone,
Not sure if modarators check this comments, but after Jorge's solution, the only trouble I got is when switching desktops on vertical monitor, its VERY laggy (like it is running at 10fps or something).. no problem at all, just inconvenient

I had the same issue: external monitor goes blank when rotating (MacBook Pro 16-inch 2021, M1 Pro, macOS Monterey 12.0; Dell Docking Station D3100; Dell U2312Hm monitor). Jorge's solution did not work for me (ResetDisplayPrefs.command ran properly, deleted display-related settings files, reboot), but updating DisplayLink Manager to 1.6.0 Beta, then changing the display rotation setting from the DisplayLink menu bar icon worked!

Hi everyone, I reached the support and did some test with them in following step by step their recommandations.
To remind you, I have a macbook air linked to a dock, linked to 2 monitors, 1 horizontal and 1 vertical.
My biggest issue is that my macbook detect only one monitor and mirrored the other one. There is no extended screen between the 2 monitors.
They told me, and I quote "We have established what is the exact issue and will be fixing it for a final version of 1.6"
They recommand to get back to the 1.5 version until it's fixed with the 1.6.
They are working on it, they did not give a released date.
I hope it will help some of you.
And sorry for my english. I'm french, and we are kind of bad at it. -

Hey guys, I have dual monitors set vertically and after updating to the latest driver on 12.01, I have no issues with extended screen rotation set at 90 and 270 respectively. Works perfectly.

Macbook Air M1, Caldigit Dock (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07VL675DT), Cable Matters USB to Display Port (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B018YHTUNI/), Dell P4317Q monitor plugged into Caldigit dock via DP cable, Dell U3219Q connected via Cable Matter usb adapter.
Had the same issue as everyone else with the black screen on the two Dell 32" monitors unless mirroring was enabled. I tried Jorge's suggestion and that fix worked for me. I am now able to have all 3 monitors set vertically with no issues!

Success with Jorge's solution:
1. Unplug the dock and restart your machine to make it operational again.
2. Download the following script from our website: Reset macOS display persistence.(https://synaptics.com/products/displaylink-graphics/downloads/macOS-display-persistence-reset)
3. Unpack the archive, so that you have ResetDisplayPrefs v1.20.command in your Downloads folder.
4. Run Terminal and execute these commands to run the script:
cd ~/Downloads
chmod +x ResetDisplayPrefs\ v1.20.command
sudo ./ResetDisplayPrefs\ v1.20.commandPs.: If the "chmod: command not found" and "sudo: command not found" with the 1.2.0 number included, please try:
cd ~/Downloads
chmod +x ResetDisplayPrefs.command
sudo ./ResetDisplayPrefs.commandThe script has to be run with administrator privileges, this is required to forcefully delete defective system settings.
Type in your password and press enter.
The script will display list of display-related settings files that will be deleted and will ask for confirmation before proceeding. After confirmation the script will delete those files, forcing MacOS to recreate them from scratch.
After the script finishes it will ask you to reboot your machine. You can plug in your dock after reboot.

MacBook Pro M1, HP G5 Dock, 1xHDMI and 1X DisplayPort, both to a HP Pavilion 25xi each.
1.6 detects both screens in the menu, however either only 1 display works, or on certain rotation settings, the second will display but a mirrored/stretched black-bar version of the other display.
Mac Display Settings detect only 1 screen no matter the configuration.

I have a different dock and the same issue as Michael Deleau when installed version 1.6 Beta on M1 MacBook pro.
When I downgrade to 1.5 the rotation doesn't work. Very annoying...

I have followed Jorge's flow, and it didn't work for me.
There are more than 1100 votes in this thread, and I don't understand why basic functionality does not work.

For the ones having the issue as Matheus, about a blackscreen unless mirroriring
Got a message from support, they fixed it!!! here is how it went through:
If the "chmod: command not found" and "sudo: command not found" with the 1.2.0 number included, please try:
cd ~/Downloads
chmod +x ResetDisplayPrefs.command
sudo ./ResetDisplayPrefs.command
Please do the following:
Unplug the dock and restart your machine to make it operational again.
Download the following script from our website: Reset macOS display persistence.(https://synaptics.com/products/displaylink-graphics/downloads/macOS-display-persistence-reset)
Unpack the archive, so that you have ResetDisplayPrefs v1.20.command in your Downloads folder.

The script will display list of display-related settings files that will be deleted and will ask for confirmation before proceeding.
After confirmation the script will delete those files, forcing MacOS to recreate them from scratch.
After the script finishes it will ask you to reboot your machine. You can plug in your dock after reboot. -

Update to my previous post.
The only issue I have is that the screen doesn't wake from sleep. I have to unplug my DisplayLink dock and then plug it in again (which is a faff because I have to unmount all the drives connected through the dock).
Everything else works fine.

Not working for me either...
My Setup features a MacBook Pro M1 Max with the DELL D6000 connected to two vertical 2k 60Hz (one is connected over HDMI and the other one over DisplayPort) Monitors and a horizontal 2k 60Hz (connected over DisplayPort) Monitor. The Vertical Monitor (connected over HDMI) and the horizontal work flawlessly. However, the second Vertical Monitor (connected over DisplayPort) mirrors the horizontal Monitor with rotation (black bars on top and bottom, cut off on the left and right while the size and aspect ratio look correct).
With Version 1.5 everything (expect rotation and nightshift) worked fine. All Monitors are the same including their names and purchase dates. The Firmware of the D6000 was outdated, updating the firmware did not bring any change. I also tested in clamshell mode.On top nightshift only works on the monitor connected over HDMI, which is a pity.

Didnt work here..
I have a MBP 13" Late 2020 with MacOS Monterey 12.0.1, using two external monitors:
DELL S2721DGF connected with an USB-C to DPI adapter, running with 2k 144hz
DELL P2219H connected via DELL D6000 dockstation. My main display is S2721DGF, and the secondary display only works if I mirror the main display.
If mirroring, rotation works fine, but its useless.
Using the lastest stable version I can extend the monitors with no rotation.
Anyone managed to get this work?

DPB commented
To everyone saying you need to be on Monterey for rotation to work, that's incorrect.
It's working - with the caveats in my earlier post - on my 2020 M1 MBP which is currently running Big Sur 11.6.1
