Black screens on macOS High Sierra 10.13.4+ and Mojave 10.14 Early Previews
The driver (DisplayLink Installer 4.1.11) doesn't work anymore withe macOS High Sierra bêta 10.13.4 (17E139) and newer.
Dear DisplayLink macOS users,
We are pleased DisplayLink 5.0.1 driver for macOS enables multiple extended display support on the latest Apple macOS 10.14.2 with additional features (clamshell and clone). We continue our strong support for the Mac platform and are working on delivering future updates with further performance improvements.
Driver 5.0.1: https://www.displaylink.com/downloads/file?id=1257
If your DisplayLink enabled device does not seem to work on 10.14, this is most likely due to the OS blocking our kernel extension. Please ensure our kernel extension is enabled by the OS as described in our FAQ: https://support.displaylink.com/knowledgebase/articles/1188004
Should you still miss extended displays on latest macOS with latest DisplayLink driver, please create a support ticket so your particular case can be investigated. Here is how: https://support.displaylink.com/knowledgebase/articles/755301
Due to changes in 10.13.4-10.13.6, it is not possible to enable DisplayLink extended displays, except one using Apple AirPlay. If your Mac is from 2011 running 10.13.4-10.13.6 and can’t update to macOS 10.14, you should remain with DisplayLink macOS driver v4.3.1 to enable one extended USB display using AirPlay, with additional displays cloned. An FAQ details how to enable Apple AirPlay with DisplayLink display for extend or mirror mode: https://support.displaylink.com/knowledgebase/articles/1854724
Audio and Ethernet functionality, where supported, stays unaffected in all versions.
We thank you for your feedback on DisplayLink products that helps us further improve our product offering.
Kind regards,
Alban

Fix the Newertech USB3.0 to DVI adapter driver so that it works with the newest version of Mac OS.

I bypassed the dock for now due to the driver issues and just replaced it with 2 USB C --> HDMI adapters. I already had a couple on hand so there was no additional cost for me. Driving a 4k UHD TV and a 1080p display with the 2 different adapter. Pisses me off that I just spent $250 on this brick because DL doesn't know how to plan and test with upcoming Apple releases that have been in beta for quite a while. Shows a complete lack of professionalism on DL's part. Shame on you! You have had plenty of time to come up with something to fix this.

Just got my portable Asus Zenscreen monitor delivered and found this problem with driver. I use MacBook Pro 15 mid 2014.
Any alternative methods to connect for portable USB monitors? I googled a lot if there is a way to use USB-C to Thunderbolt adaptor, but seems there is no way to get it work. Did anyone find a solution in same case?
I have no idea how long we have to wait a driver update. But I hope that DL and Apple will find a solution in nearest future. -

DL, please let us know if there is light at the end of the tunnel.
This appears to have been caused by a significant architecture change by Apple.
If it's true that you had access to betas of 10.13.4 well in advance, then it's inexcusable for not having 4.3 driver ready.
Either way, this could be a significant blow to your business as users that have gone through this ordeal will likely avoid DL based products in the future.
For the time being, Time Machine saved the day and I was able to revert to 10.13.3, but we really need to know if this will eventually be solved. -

I bought this Display Link product specifically for my Mac about a week before this issue happened. Is there any way I could get a refund since this has made the product useless.

OK, DisplayLink has known about this since Feb. See original post:

TOULEMONDE shared this idea · Feb 8, 2018DisplayLInk must have known that this would be a major issue for Apple users once the update was pushed by Apple. Come on guys, either fix this or be honest with the users of devices that use DisplayLink and fess up that this tech is terminal for Apple users so we can sell our dongles on craigslist or something.

Amazing ineptitude. No updates, no transparency, no solutions...just blame and then silence.

Why was this not uncovered while the Mac OS was in testing? Not very professional on DisplayLink's part.

Yes, I know it's April, not May. It just feels like it...

DisplayLink took our money. Apple posted their beta software in January. It's the back half of May and my displays don't work and haven't for several weeks. It's clear who owns this problem. They have posted beta software that doesn't work (my screen goes black every 30 seconds). I'm trying to do the work of 2 large monitors on my 15" screen. No daily updates have been posted for us to have a clue as to whether we are being heard. There are countless examples out there for how companies can do things the "right way". These folks are not following those examples. For fellow users to blame Apple for a device that, unknown to us users, was based on "off the ranch" software to begin with and is now broken, is absurd. I don't know how many good engineers it takes to fix something in 4 months but clearly, these folks do not have them. The only option for users is to take to social media / review sites and let people know what these clowns have done. If we can hurt their sales we may possibly get their attention and get our devices working again.
