Black screens on macOS High Sierra 10.13.4+ and Mojave 10.14 Early Previews
The driver (DisplayLink Installer 4.1.11) doesn't work anymore withe macOS High Sierra bêta 10.13.4 (17E139) and newer.
Dear DisplayLink macOS users,
We are pleased DisplayLink 5.0.1 driver for macOS enables multiple extended display support on the latest Apple macOS 10.14.2 with additional features (clamshell and clone). We continue our strong support for the Mac platform and are working on delivering future updates with further performance improvements.
Driver 5.0.1: https://www.displaylink.com/downloads/file?id=1257
If your DisplayLink enabled device does not seem to work on 10.14, this is most likely due to the OS blocking our kernel extension. Please ensure our kernel extension is enabled by the OS as described in our FAQ: https://support.displaylink.com/knowledgebase/articles/1188004
Should you still miss extended displays on latest macOS with latest DisplayLink driver, please create a support ticket so your particular case can be investigated. Here is how: https://support.displaylink.com/knowledgebase/articles/755301
Due to changes in 10.13.4-10.13.6, it is not possible to enable DisplayLink extended displays, except one using Apple AirPlay. If your Mac is from 2011 running 10.13.4-10.13.6 and can’t update to macOS 10.14, you should remain with DisplayLink macOS driver v4.3.1 to enable one extended USB display using AirPlay, with additional displays cloned. An FAQ details how to enable Apple AirPlay with DisplayLink display for extend or mirror mode: https://support.displaylink.com/knowledgebase/articles/1854724
Audio and Ethernet functionality, where supported, stays unaffected in all versions.
We thank you for your feedback on DisplayLink products that helps us further improve our product offering.
Kind regards,
Alban

I'm new to this thread, but in skimming over the most recent posts, the gist of the issue seems to be that Apple has removed support for video-over-USB and I've also seen claims that they have no interest in bringing that feature back. If that's the case, how would DL even be able to implement clone mode in their latest update? I'm just trying to figure out if there's even a chance that this may work again some day.

I have a macbook pro 2017. The workaround I used was to connect my second monitor directly to my USB-C port on my mac. So one port is used for my DisplayLink Docking Station and another directly to my second monitor. Extended mode works now. I also used a USB-C to DVI adapter as well since my monitor is a bit old.
I have all my other peripherals connected to my docking station so I didn't have to touch those.
As long as you have a way to output a second display directly from your mac I'm sure it will also work.

so sounds like the fix if / when it happens will be tied to a subsequent apple OS release (which may or may not be the next update)?.

Thanks for the update.

Hey guys, I understand working with somebody else's OS and unpredictable changes is a pain, but this is MASSIVELY impactful to probably tens of thousands of people's work. It's been months! I held off as long as I could but my work (rightfully) mandates security updates.
What is the problem? Is it a budget thing? A staffing thing? Hell, at this point I'd donate to a Kickstarter just to have multiple monitors again. You have us by the throat, here!

An Apple Store manager informed me today that video-over-USB was never a supported feature of the macOS, and they cannot be responsible for unsupported devices. He was aware of no plans by Apple to offer such support in future.
DisplayLink have offered sublets in a squat. Apple are the freeholders, and we've been evicted.
Best of luck living rough. -

I have now rolled back to sierra via https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LmquLWE67aM. Waiting for displaylink to catch up is a joke. That's the last time I update this mac and the last time i buy an apple product, such disrespect to customers doing what they've done & what a terrible customer experience from all parties involved

@LVS1008: There is no fix/solution. They hope the string people along long enough that they move onto the next product/solution and forget about it.

Please make getting this issue fixed a priority. I rely on the dual extended screens for work and this has been having a significant effect on my ability to be efficient. I called Apple and there is no way to revert to the OS 10.13.3 now that I have downloaded the updated version. When I spoke with Apple last week and requested information about this issue, they said it was the first time they were hearing of it and that they were unaware of any issues.
Apple also said that it was not them that would be doing the update. They said that DisplayLink has to update its own code for a new DL software download so that users can get their adapters working again. It seems as though there are 2 different stories regarding this issue.
While I understand that it does take time and resources for DL to fix this bug, I do not see why it is taking THIS long for a solution. Please hurry!

Wow they finally gave us an update after over a week.. yet now we have to wait for "a future release of macOS". Give me a break. In the meantime please continue to risk security by not updating your operating system to the latest release. The money this company is costing the company I work for is a joke. We continue to have driver issues on Windows docks as well. The cost of ownership for support in my opinion is not worth it. I will be doing everything in my power to ensure we never use their products again.

I have been required now to update to the latest OS version at our company due to security and trust reasons. I have been delaying this update because of the DisplayLink driver problem with 10.13.14, but now have now alternative than to update to the latest version. A Clone copy of a screen is not a work around to the problem in the Beta version. It is an annoyance.
I appreciate that you have allocated resources to address this issue. Is there a date when this will be available? This is impacting significant function and productivity and the main reason for even purchasing a DisplayLink product.

macOS 10.13.5 beta is out, but DisplayLink is still not working... :(

With yesterday Apple’s security update the tweak to enable e-GPU through TB 2 was disable. They continue blocking other alternatives of video except for TB 3. Bad news again ?
BTW, did you in DL noticed that none of the drivers work with 10.13.5 beta ? Do you have that beta for testing or not ?

I wish I would've known this before I ran the update! I don't normally think to myself everytime I run an update: "hm I wonder if I should check with DisplayLink first?!"

Does this mean you are waiting for Apple to update the macOS first before you can update? These take nearly a quarter on average to do!!

From what I read, if they find a solution it will work only on 10.13.5 right?
