Black screens on macOS High Sierra 10.13.4+ and Mojave 10.14 Early Previews
The driver (DisplayLink Installer 4.1.11) doesn't work anymore withe macOS High Sierra bêta 10.13.4 (17E139) and newer.
Dear DisplayLink macOS users,
We are pleased DisplayLink 5.0.1 driver for macOS enables multiple extended display support on the latest Apple macOS 10.14.2 with additional features (clamshell and clone). We continue our strong support for the Mac platform and are working on delivering future updates with further performance improvements.
Driver 5.0.1: https://www.displaylink.com/downloads/file?id=1257
If your DisplayLink enabled device does not seem to work on 10.14, this is most likely due to the OS blocking our kernel extension. Please ensure our kernel extension is enabled by the OS as described in our FAQ: https://support.displaylink.com/knowledgebase/articles/1188004
Should you still miss extended displays on latest macOS with latest DisplayLink driver, please create a support ticket so your particular case can be investigated. Here is how: https://support.displaylink.com/knowledgebase/articles/755301
Due to changes in 10.13.4-10.13.6, it is not possible to enable DisplayLink extended displays, except one using Apple AirPlay. If your Mac is from 2011 running 10.13.4-10.13.6 and can’t update to macOS 10.14, you should remain with DisplayLink macOS driver v4.3.1 to enable one extended USB display using AirPlay, with additional displays cloned. An FAQ details how to enable Apple AirPlay with DisplayLink display for extend or mirror mode: https://support.displaylink.com/knowledgebase/articles/1854724
Audio and Ethernet functionality, where supported, stays unaffected in all versions.
We thank you for your feedback on DisplayLink products that helps us further improve our product offering.
Kind regards,
Alban

The user Barney-15E https://discussions.apple.com/people/Barney-15E seems to not like that fact that we are hating on Apple. Please feel free to tell his ass to shut it like I have. We do not need his nerdyness ruing our depressing enough party.

Alban, I appreciate the update and the attention on this from displaylink. I was hoping to see something from Apple, both taking accountability and providing a remedy. But I'm glad to see you're close to making something happen.

Let's get this fixed! I hope it is not out of good character to ask that this happen!

We really have a set of jerksin the comment forum here. Apple broke this. It impacted *all* the companies that do display drivers, not just DisplayLink. Duet, AirDisplay… none of them are functional. All of those companies are working as hard as they can to come up with a solution. All of them sent email to their users warning them not to use 10.13.4 as soon as they knew there was a problem.
Be patient.

Well I broke down and went with a native solution which works real nice with Thunderbolt 3:
StarTech TB32HD24K60 Thunderbolt 3 to Dual HDMI Adapter- 4K 60Hz - Mac and Windows Compatible - USB C Adapter - USB C HDMI - Thunderbolt 3 to HDMI
Too bad I gave money to DisplayLink, but I won't have to worry about that again in the future. I hope they come up with a solution pretty soon for those of you that are hardware constrained and have spent good money on DisplayLink products. Good luck to all and ever forward!

Hi all- Our IT services office came up with a temporary solution for extended display with my Dell Monitor and Macbook Pro. It now utilizes the Thunderbolt port with a DVI/VGA adapter. I can still use the Displaylink Adapter for other features like printing via Ethernet, mouse, keyboard, etc. It looks like I have the functionality that I have been missing for the past few weeks. Hope this helps!

Does this affect the new macbooks? The ones that come with USB-c ports?

There was a security patch that came out from Apple in the past couple of days. Any chance that this patch may provide a correction to the issue??

I'm frustrated but I'll be civil. Do we have any idea of when this problem will be solved?

"We have made solid progress towards identifying a solution"
So JOKERS there is a solution but you just blamed Apple instead of working towards this solution during the beta period of the MacOs version TWO MONTHS before the actual release to public...YOU ARE THE BIGGEST JOKE & SCAM IN HISTORY!

WOW. So sad it is! Shame on you, DisplayLink.

I love how people don't read the bloody NOTIFICATION.
"DisplayLink has committed significant resources to finding a way to restore extended mode display support in a future release of macOS.
We have made solid progress towards identifying a solution, however our team needs to complete more work before we can communicate a release plan for a driver that will restore extended mode displays." -

Hi.
I have waited patently for this Mac OS 10.13.4 - DisplayLink issue to be resolved. The recent update "DisplayLink has committed significant resources to finding a way to restore extended mode display support in a future release of macOS." is not acceptable, and not a solution for users needing this fixed urgently.
I work in an organisation with agile desking set up with over 500 Displaylink units and multiple monitors. Mac users now cannot connect to multiple displays via USB and we are forced to set up our Macs with 5 separate cables and manually adjusting display settings. This is not acceptable or sustainable.
This is not a new issue for Mac Displaylink drivers, and you are constantly behind OS updates. Do not advertise your product being Mac compatible if you do not intend have the resources to back that up.
I note that users were alerting Displaylink to this current issue as early as January this year when the 10.13.4 beta was released (https://www.displaylink.org/forum/showthread.php?t=65890).
Why didn't anyone at Displaylink look into this back then and advise Mac users not to upgrade? I am not able to downgrade to 10.13.3.
Apart from inferior product and poor development resources, your lack of communication around this issue shows your disregard and contempt for your customers. I will be doing everything in my power to persuade everyone I can, including our organisation, not to purchase your products in the future.

My machines are all already upgraded to 10.13.4 - which is how I discovered the problem - and it is not possible to roll them back. Extended displays is the only reason I installed your software -- mirroring is useless to me. I have lost 1/3 of my screens, with a corresponding reduction in productivity. IT IS NOT AT ALL REASSURING TO HEAR THAT THE FUNCTIONALITY I NEED TO OPERATE MY BUSINESS WILL NOT BE RESTORED UNTIL "A FUTURE RELEASE OF MAC OS." I had assumed you were working on a fix for this one. Which means I will be hobbling along in my business for g-d knows how long. How about you try and make it work ASAP, not in conjunction with some unknown "future release?"
