Black screens on macOS High Sierra 10.13.4+ and Mojave 10.14 Early Previews
The driver (DisplayLink Installer 4.1.11) doesn't work anymore withe macOS High Sierra bêta 10.13.4 (17E139) and newer.
Dear DisplayLink macOS users,
We are pleased DisplayLink 5.0.1 driver for macOS enables multiple extended display support on the latest Apple macOS 10.14.2 with additional features (clamshell and clone). We continue our strong support for the Mac platform and are working on delivering future updates with further performance improvements.
Driver 5.0.1: https://www.displaylink.com/downloads/file?id=1257
If your DisplayLink enabled device does not seem to work on 10.14, this is most likely due to the OS blocking our kernel extension. Please ensure our kernel extension is enabled by the OS as described in our FAQ: https://support.displaylink.com/knowledgebase/articles/1188004
Should you still miss extended displays on latest macOS with latest DisplayLink driver, please create a support ticket so your particular case can be investigated. Here is how: https://support.displaylink.com/knowledgebase/articles/755301
Due to changes in 10.13.4-10.13.6, it is not possible to enable DisplayLink extended displays, except one using Apple AirPlay. If your Mac is from 2011 running 10.13.4-10.13.6 and can’t update to macOS 10.14, you should remain with DisplayLink macOS driver v4.3.1 to enable one extended USB display using AirPlay, with additional displays cloned. An FAQ details how to enable Apple AirPlay with DisplayLink display for extend or mirror mode: https://support.displaylink.com/knowledgebase/articles/1854724
Audio and Ethernet functionality, where supported, stays unaffected in all versions.
We thank you for your feedback on DisplayLink products that helps us further improve our product offering.
Kind regards,
Alban

7-10 days to have one screen back is better than nothing, so counting down thank you.

I'm interested in knowing how long this is going to take to fix? I have been being stagnant an loosing money for over a month now. I really need to see some results, because not only am I losing money I'm losing clients and very important accounts behind this.

How big is your team? As a software engineer, I would say you did a horrible job.

Dr. E, sorry to hear, can you open system information and scroll to thunderbolt devices, see if it shows up there. If it does, just means we need to enable it. ( https://support.apple.com/en-ie/HT203001 ) see there on how to view this info.
Only other alternative is to go wireless as a cheap, quick and dirty solution, but again i'm not saying this is the recommended method, but you can use this way to get around it, using airplay.
https://bit.ly/2Fuz3wYI bought a few of these to plug into our TVs in all the rooms so we can just airplay from my lappy. Quality isn't the best but did a good job.

People with computers issued from their employers don't have the luxury to stay on the older version. Corporate security compliance requires you to upgrade. Hurry up please...

There seem to be a number of charming alternatives for those with monitors capable of HDMI/DVI/DP/VGA input.
For those of us in the plebian world of purely USB monitors, nothing seems to work.
Pray, is there nothing we can do? -

Can this be fixed to the latest version OS? This is a global issue and it will be really helpful to all the fast-growing organisation if you can find a solution to it

Is there any update as to when there may be a fix for this?

@Eamon
No luck with my MBA either at @30 or 60 Hz HDMI.
Same happens with a Mini DP to Dual DP adapter, just one monitor is detected.
No solution at this moment for me. I need my MBA with 2 monitors for my setup. -

There's also Airplay, you can use as an alternative, think you can by a DLNA hdmi transmitter for like £15 minimum or go all out and get apple TV. Think the cheap one would work as good as. But you can extend that way also, just means your screen is going to be reliant on how fast your internal network is. but it's a way around it. not a recommended way just saying there's that option also.

Both screens are working on my MBP 2015 with 10.13.4. Note I have the Apple TB2 -> HDM1 adapter. Not sure if that makes any difference but both screen instantly came on. I also have 1x HDM1 output from my MBP and I've connected that to a TV and all 3 screens are working well.
Think apple has an article on it, ....

hmmm ... I tested on my imac apologies, let me get my MBP 2k15, 10 mins

Hmmm. I've just tested all 2 of my screens TB2 x 2 ports and all work using the TB2 -> HDMI. So Definitely TB2/MDP to 2 monitors work. They use the native display adapter.

Just for clarification:
- 10.13.5 does not fix the issue
- Latest security update disable tweaks for USB2 to DP or USB2 to HDMI (in my MBA)
- TB2 to DP + HDMI adapters works only with one monitor, can't use both ports at the same time
- TB3 to Dual DP or HDMI works (for now)So far no solution for this issue, except for upgrading to a new Mac with multiple TB3 ports. Waiting since February for DL to fix this !!!

Any update Displaylink? even just an update or possible timeline!! If this continues will you be offering refunds to all affected after buying your product that can now not use it?

Donna, You have ample ports, this means you can connect up to 3 monitors using your nvidia circuit.
I would switch my setup a bit and run all your screens from the TB2 ports using something like this ( https://amzn.to/2rbSl60 ) then buy a usb3 dock and extend everything else via that.
The issue for you will be if you want a 4th monitor
But I'm a bit confused because your mac should have USB-C/TB3 ports, when you go to Top Apple menu and then click "About this Mac" After The first 2 lines what does it say? Should give you the generation the mac was made.
Ta. Hope it all works out for you.

I'm sick of this. I should have learnt my lesson having experienced this a few years ago. It's beyond annoying that I have to go look at all the third party driver sites to confirm whether updating my OSX is a good idea of not.. especially, when that OSX update is tackling existing security threats.
So, because DisplayLink isn't able to cover all the OS's it distributes it's firmware to, we're stuck in the mud until they "catch up". I'm done. I'm going to look into Donna & Eric Halleen's recommendations, and also found a few more options that cost more. But, I'm willing to pay for reliability: TripleHead2Go DP Edition

Eamon - I have a Macbrook Pro purchased in 2017. It has 3 TB2 ports. Current I used the Startech docking station to connect the monitors through one of the TB2 ports.

Here is a great resource I just found: https://plugable.com/2018/04/04/alternative-video-output-solutions-macos-10-13-4-systems-ud-ultcdl-ud-ultc4k-docks/
I was able to use a single external display adapter I had (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01M4LR670/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1) and now have an extended set up.
Based on the first website listed, I ordered a USB-C to HDMI adapter from Amazon ($20) and should have dual displays up and running again tomorrow.
