Black screens on macOS High Sierra 10.13.4+ and Mojave 10.14 Early Previews
The driver (DisplayLink Installer 4.1.11) doesn't work anymore withe macOS High Sierra bêta 10.13.4 (17E139) and newer.
Dear DisplayLink macOS users,
We are pleased DisplayLink 5.0.1 driver for macOS enables multiple extended display support on the latest Apple macOS 10.14.2 with additional features (clamshell and clone). We continue our strong support for the Mac platform and are working on delivering future updates with further performance improvements.
Driver 5.0.1: https://www.displaylink.com/downloads/file?id=1257
If your DisplayLink enabled device does not seem to work on 10.14, this is most likely due to the OS blocking our kernel extension. Please ensure our kernel extension is enabled by the OS as described in our FAQ: https://support.displaylink.com/knowledgebase/articles/1188004
Should you still miss extended displays on latest macOS with latest DisplayLink driver, please create a support ticket so your particular case can be investigated. Here is how: https://support.displaylink.com/knowledgebase/articles/755301
Due to changes in 10.13.4-10.13.6, it is not possible to enable DisplayLink extended displays, except one using Apple AirPlay. If your Mac is from 2011 running 10.13.4-10.13.6 and can’t update to macOS 10.14, you should remain with DisplayLink macOS driver v4.3.1 to enable one extended USB display using AirPlay, with additional displays cloned. An FAQ details how to enable Apple AirPlay with DisplayLink display for extend or mirror mode: https://support.displaylink.com/knowledgebase/articles/1854724
Audio and Ethernet functionality, where supported, stays unaffected in all versions.
We thank you for your feedback on DisplayLink products that helps us further improve our product offering.
Kind regards,
Alban

Not working for me. Airplay keeps turning off after some minutes.

It's been 3 months and still no solution to this problem. All we keep getting are worthless workarounds. DisplayLink really showing their incompetence on this issue. They should stop advertising themselves as a all in one solution because it's quite apparent that they don't know anything about Macs.

This latest driver for airplay works on my MBP late 2011 with OS 10.13.4. I have my MBP setup with two 32 inch LG screens via DP and the DisplayLink adapter via USB. Both screens work as extended displays. Multiple workspaces is working on all 3 screen as well as the menu bar on the top of each screen. However, the dock only shows up on the MBP and not the extended displays. I could swear it worked before ....
So, the ( interim ) solution sort of works for my setup..... waiting for the final fix.

I gave up at least a month ago. Ended up buying this guy off of Amazon for $70-odd bucks - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01ANR5AJU/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1 Working like a dream, don't think I'll need to come back to DisplayLink any longer. Bummer though, I enjoyed the hub until the new OS broke it.

is there somewhere other than this forum to see the status of the fix? My productivity suffers with less monitors.

After reboot it stopped working, would only mirror. Finally figured out I had to unplug, disable the firewall, plug in - extended display worked! - then re-enable firewall...

Johns comment is valid, I have extended display but at two different resolutions.

I now have two screens operational - one that mirrors the laptop's display and one extended display. The extended display runs at the correct resolution. All-in-all this is a big improvement on the situation 24 hours ago.
I would, however, urge / beg DisplayLink to produce a complete fix asap and I echo fellow posters' comments - the delay has been far too long and is unacceptable.

@stvmacwoes I had the same issue at first, try unplugging the USB. It suddenly had the "display" option available.

Worked for the single extended screen, if you can send the retina display output to my other screen via clone mode that would solve the problem of getting 2 screens up and running.

Thanks for the reply Flick, but I already have "Show mirroring options" checked, and the "Airplay Display" tab only has one choice (Off). No displaylink choice. No joy.

NO AIRPLAY ICON IN MENU BAR? Here goes fix for that ... >>> Go to Sistem Preferences / Displays and check "Show mirroring options in the menu bar when available" then pull AirPlay Display tab from OFF to DisplayLink if needed, if not just do rest in AirPlay option at right corner, Select DisplayLink, Then Again click on icon and select Extended Display...

No AirPlay icon in the menu bar.
System: macbook pro (with touchbar)
Dock: Thinkpad Ultra Dock (with DisplayLink "4K plug & play" logo)
Dock connected to macbook with USB dongle to one of the 4 usb-c ports on the mac.I installed the new beta 3 driver, rebooted, disconnected & reconnected the dock, yet I still have no AirPlay icon in the menu bar. On Displays (in system preferences) I have "Show mirroring options..." checked. But the "Airplay Display" option just above it is set to "Off" and there is not "On" choice.
I've tried uninstalling/reinstalling the driver; multiple reboots; making sure firewall settings are proper. And yes, this setup was working fine prior to the MacOS update.
How do I get the Airplay menu to come out and play?

Well it works, which is an improvement on the status quo. But there is a one caveat. A portrait resolution isn't supported - and I have the monitor on it's side for coding. So I'll have to hold out for the proper update...

Running monitors on HDMI, thunderbolt 1 and USB 2.0! -

Useless for me. As I'm currently already running 2/3 monitors via a thunderbolt to hdmi cable, enabling this allows me to use my third monitor but my other monitor falls into clone mode by default.... Not going to waste the time or effort until I have a proper driver for MACOS otherwise I'll just use one monitor
