Black screens on macOS High Sierra 10.13.4+ and Mojave 10.14 Early Previews
The driver (DisplayLink Installer 4.1.11) doesn't work anymore withe macOS High Sierra bêta 10.13.4 (17E139) and newer.
Dear DisplayLink macOS users,
We are pleased DisplayLink 5.0.1 driver for macOS enables multiple extended display support on the latest Apple macOS 10.14.2 with additional features (clamshell and clone). We continue our strong support for the Mac platform and are working on delivering future updates with further performance improvements.
Driver 5.0.1: https://www.displaylink.com/downloads/file?id=1257
If your DisplayLink enabled device does not seem to work on 10.14, this is most likely due to the OS blocking our kernel extension. Please ensure our kernel extension is enabled by the OS as described in our FAQ: https://support.displaylink.com/knowledgebase/articles/1188004
Should you still miss extended displays on latest macOS with latest DisplayLink driver, please create a support ticket so your particular case can be investigated. Here is how: https://support.displaylink.com/knowledgebase/articles/755301
Due to changes in 10.13.4-10.13.6, it is not possible to enable DisplayLink extended displays, except one using Apple AirPlay. If your Mac is from 2011 running 10.13.4-10.13.6 and can’t update to macOS 10.14, you should remain with DisplayLink macOS driver v4.3.1 to enable one extended USB display using AirPlay, with additional displays cloned. An FAQ details how to enable Apple AirPlay with DisplayLink display for extend or mirror mode: https://support.displaylink.com/knowledgebase/articles/1854724
Audio and Ethernet functionality, where supported, stays unaffected in all versions.
We thank you for your feedback on DisplayLink products that helps us further improve our product offering.
Kind regards,
Alban

First time poster, long time reader. I cannot believe this has not been resolved yet! We cannot get work done properly at our office for months because of this problem! Ridiculous!

This update made it worse! I was able to use the second screen with beta 3, as long as I left my laptop screen open. Now with beta 4 it won't work at all!

This update didn't work for me at all. It just cloned all my screens. No option to extend in my display settings.

I and several colleagues can't get beta 4 to work on our MBP's. Beta 3 worked for us, albeit with difficulty, and now we don't even see Displaylink as an option in the "Airplay To:" list.

No update yet? When we can expect a fix sort of update?

To those of you who are not seeing the DisplayLinkUserAgent in Security -> Accessibility, I found that I had to uninstall the DisplayLink driver completely, then re-install the Beta 4. Then the DisplayLinkUserAgent shows up again correctly, and the screen should work.

I had to install and uninstall and install again to get it to show up in Security -> accessibility. I cannot get this version of the driver to NOT mirror. I have to as "Use as separate display" but it is still mirroring my main screen.

Unchecked checkboxes in Notes are not rendered correctly in the extended monitor. They look squared black. When I check it out or move it to another monitor it look ok. I tried to change the display profile but it doesn't unlock in the extended monitor.

DisplayLink driver v4.3 beta 4 followed directions. Not working. No option in accessibility. I am running 10.13.5 Beta (17F70a) .... that beat 3 worked but after sometime it disappeared completely. I cannot even find the display-link to add it in accessibility and allow access.

@Michael, I'd just downgrade for now and turn on all your firewalls for now. Let's see where apple takes us next. But I very much doubt DL can fix this. I'm on 10.13.1 for the moment but I've provided steps on how to get back to 10.13.3 in my first post. I also believe Clark on here has provided instructions on how to get back to 10.13.3 from time machine.
For those who has USB-C i'm struggling to see why you would ever need DL docks etc, just get apple branded ones or some other brand out there. USB-C is totally unaffected as they can use the native graphic module, thus you don't need any hacks like us pre- TB3/USB-C users.
This attack from apple is intentionally aimed at us who have older macs unfortunately we're now the ones being discriminated against.

The new beta release now allows me to extend my desktop using my DisplayLink via USB (again). Thanks for the update/workaround.
I did want to add that the functionality is better than before actually. I used to have windows that would go white and wouldn't display content unless you moused over them. So, this solution is an improvement from the previous driver!
My system specs: macOS High Sierra - version 10.13.4 - MacbookPro (15-inch, Late 2011) - 2.2 GHz Intel Core i7 - 8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3 - AMD Radeon HD 6750M 512MB

@Eamon makes some interesting points. I feel like I did back when I was a Windows XP user.... Totally disenchanted with the builders of a lousy OS that fully took for granted the market dominance they enjoyed. Now, I find myself considering going back to a platform I promised to never go back to. Apple has been messing with us via iOS and OSX "update" manipulation that impacts performance for too long.
I'm so discouraged by all of the unreliable product offering driven by shareholder profit. It's revolting. I was certain/hopeful this problem was on DisplayLink, and now appreciate this is likely an Apple issue. I am not upgrading to a $4K system to get my peripheral monitors working. I just assume go back to Windows crap vs. doing that.
Thanks @Nobody and @Eamon for shedding your professional perspective on what is likely happening behind the scenes. I appreciate why DisplayLink (@ AlbanRampon) may not be capable of being so blunt.

Restart. Used Displaylink Uninstaller. Restart. Displaylink Install of v4.3b4. Restart through installer. The display link adapter was in the accessibility when I opened it. Plugged in the device. It is working.
