Black screens on macOS High Sierra 10.13.4+ and Mojave 10.14 Early Previews
The driver (DisplayLink Installer 4.1.11) doesn't work anymore withe macOS High Sierra bêta 10.13.4 (17E139) and newer.
Dear DisplayLink macOS users,
We are pleased DisplayLink 5.0.1 driver for macOS enables multiple extended display support on the latest Apple macOS 10.14.2 with additional features (clamshell and clone). We continue our strong support for the Mac platform and are working on delivering future updates with further performance improvements.
Driver 5.0.1: https://www.displaylink.com/downloads/file?id=1257
If your DisplayLink enabled device does not seem to work on 10.14, this is most likely due to the OS blocking our kernel extension. Please ensure our kernel extension is enabled by the OS as described in our FAQ: https://support.displaylink.com/knowledgebase/articles/1188004
Should you still miss extended displays on latest macOS with latest DisplayLink driver, please create a support ticket so your particular case can be investigated. Here is how: https://support.displaylink.com/knowledgebase/articles/755301
Due to changes in 10.13.4-10.13.6, it is not possible to enable DisplayLink extended displays, except one using Apple AirPlay. If your Mac is from 2011 running 10.13.4-10.13.6 and can’t update to macOS 10.14, you should remain with DisplayLink macOS driver v4.3.1 to enable one extended USB display using AirPlay, with additional displays cloned. An FAQ details how to enable Apple AirPlay with DisplayLink display for extend or mirror mode: https://support.displaylink.com/knowledgebase/articles/1854724
Audio and Ethernet functionality, where supported, stays unaffected in all versions.
We thank you for your feedback on DisplayLink products that helps us further improve our product offering.
Kind regards,
Alban

Ronald Walter Francisco It must be legal issues over moneys gained/lost/required.
If it was just like-minded developers caring about bugs it would have been solved within a week. -

A- Known what the time machine was
B-Had I known I had to wait 2 months because there isn't an adapter on this planet that will work with 10.13.4 so I can have a 3rd screen operating!
Geekquad, apple, DisplayLink and J5 Create are all clueless.......

Do you guys have an ETA on the final driver for 10.13.4? I have a device made by AKai that will not function at all without this driver.

Expecting 10.13.5...I got RE: from one user that this driver doesn't work in 10.13.5beta...anyone else tried?

The workaround is messy. It not only requires a lot of scary security adjustments (like letting this software control your system) but in my case it keeps "flicking" the focus from the extended monitor to the built-in. It's so annoying I ended up uninstalling the driver and reverting to using an HDMI adapter directly into the MacBook Air. Lucky me I work with only one external monitor...

Have a non working device. Looked like a DOA. With one big difference. It will not be refunded or replaced. The only message about it is clear. I made a mistake by buying it as I already was on MacOS 10.13.4. Worked fine in the shop :-(

Problem solved: I have a simple installation of a 27" iMAC and a 2nd Samsung 1080P display. My second display is up and running again by bypassing the Displaylink and getting a USB C to DMI adaptor to connect the second monitor.
The displaylink is now a very expensive USB hub.Cheers

The functionality of the update remains problematic at best, as it requires I set the security conditions each time I restart the computer. For my work set-up in the office, I have asked that the tec personnel install a kill-switch so that I can simplify the process each time (since to enable the AirPlay workaround I must momentarily disable the attached monitor running off your Displaylink hardware). This type of "workaround" is necessary each time I remove my laptop from the connected monitors, which happens 5-10 each work day. This hardware, by the way, I purchased from your company back in 2011. The newer hardware I purchased last December runs an external monitor in my home office. There, this workaround with my dedicated desktop works only occasionally, though I am having to manually unplug the monitor attached to your hardware each time I make an attempt. Not all attemps are successful, unlike at work. As that set-up consists of four monitors in total, I have simply reduced my usage of the monitor connected to your equipment. This reminds me a great deal of the home projects I concocted using duct tape as a teenager. Please tell us that we're not going to be forced to continue this much longer.

the word "fix" has a number of definitions. I'm hoping displaylink is focusing on applying meaning #3 for the patch (and definitely not meanings #5, #6, #7, or #8)
fix: verb
3rd person present: fixes; past tense: fixed; past participle: fixed; gerund or present participle: fixing1. fasten (something) securely in a particular place or position.
"fix the clamp on a rail"

"he turned back to fix the scene in his mind"2. direct one's eyes, attention, or mind steadily or unwaveringly toward.
"I fixed my attention on the tower"
(of a person's eyes, attention, or mind) be directed steadily or unwaveringly toward.
"her gaze fixed on Jess"
synonyms: focus, direct, level, point, train
"his eyes were fixed on the ground"3. mend; repair.
"you should fix that shelf"
synonyms: repair, mend, put right, put to rights, get working, restore (to working order); More4. decide or settle on (a specific price, date, course of action, etc.).
"no date has yet been fixed for a hearing"5. make (something) permanent or static in nature.
"the rate of interest is fixed for the life of the loan"6. influence the outcome of (something, especially a race, contest, or election) by illegal or underhanded means.

This update problem between apple and display link is really messing with my business. I bought the Triple-Monitor Docking Station and haven’t been able to use it for about 2 months now. Beta 4 is complete garbage based on the fact it only works for 1 monitor. Can someone please provide an eta for the next fully functioning update?

@bng I'm sure they'd say something if 10.13.5 contained the fix. Their silence on the subject is reason enough to hang-tight. Although it likely will not hurt to install...it IS a bunch of bug fixes from Apple.

This Mac OS 10.13.4 solution is maddening. I think DisplayLink should refund its Apple customers for marketing hardware that doesn't work with Apple products.
