Black screens on macOS High Sierra 10.13.4+ and Mojave 10.14 Early Previews
The driver (DisplayLink Installer 4.1.11) doesn't work anymore withe macOS High Sierra bêta 10.13.4 (17E139) and newer.
Dear DisplayLink macOS users,
We are pleased DisplayLink 5.0.1 driver for macOS enables multiple extended display support on the latest Apple macOS 10.14.2 with additional features (clamshell and clone). We continue our strong support for the Mac platform and are working on delivering future updates with further performance improvements.
Driver 5.0.1: https://www.displaylink.com/downloads/file?id=1257
If your DisplayLink enabled device does not seem to work on 10.14, this is most likely due to the OS blocking our kernel extension. Please ensure our kernel extension is enabled by the OS as described in our FAQ: https://support.displaylink.com/knowledgebase/articles/1188004
Should you still miss extended displays on latest macOS with latest DisplayLink driver, please create a support ticket so your particular case can be investigated. Here is how: https://support.displaylink.com/knowledgebase/articles/755301
Due to changes in 10.13.4-10.13.6, it is not possible to enable DisplayLink extended displays, except one using Apple AirPlay. If your Mac is from 2011 running 10.13.4-10.13.6 and can’t update to macOS 10.14, you should remain with DisplayLink macOS driver v4.3.1 to enable one extended USB display using AirPlay, with additional displays cloned. An FAQ details how to enable Apple AirPlay with DisplayLink display for extend or mirror mode: https://support.displaylink.com/knowledgebase/articles/1854724
Audio and Ethernet functionality, where supported, stays unaffected in all versions.
We thank you for your feedback on DisplayLink products that helps us further improve our product offering.
Kind regards,
Alban

Initially, beta 5 driver was working for me.
But now after the weekend Airplay is not recognising DisplayLink any-longer.
I have already uninstalled and reinstalled betat 5 - but no luck.
Any advise? -

Beta5 is forcing me to move the menu to the extended screen. It will otherwise clone.

If i am already on 10.13.4, can i update to .5 and still use the same Beta driver?

airplay for DL is a cheap option. you do not need a usb stick to have airplay devices. so for DL to even suggest it is a massive con and grave deception to mac users. It's like you bought a big mac at mc-ds and they give you a cheese burger with no gherkins or cheese. I bet you'd go back and ask them to sort your burger out. Airplay is found on DLNA devices it's nothing special, basically you buy a hdmi airplay dongle which cost like £10 - 15. put it into your screen and then enable it from your laptop without any wires. Or use Apple TV which cost like £100. So DL is ripping everyone off who have even bother to follow there stupid suppose to be fix. Now everyone who bought DL bought it so it works via cables using usb which enables video output via their device. What DL is basically just done, is use builtin functionality from apple to make their product work. this is why i've not even bothered upgrading, it's pointless, if you already use airplay for other screens. Big Big Big con. Disappointed with the solution. They have basically just implied that their own tech is useless. or is it just me who is seeing this for what it is.

What is AirPlay and why is it the only option? Can't I just plug in via USB?

to be fair DL it's June. Can you please provide some clarity on the situation?
1) What timeline are you hoping to achieve fully functionality which does not rely on other technology because Airplay to me is not really a solution. Anyone can buy a £15 airplay dongle and achieve the same outcome.
2) What stage in development are you? How many developers are actively working on this?
3) In the event you are not able to resolve the issue? Have you provided details for customers to make compensation claims?
I think I'm asking very valid questions. I've told many many people to wait and we are in June. Seriously now, not even microsoft takes this long to find a solution to shit they didn't test.

Initially for me, running 10.13.4 and beta #3, the #5 update did not work as expected. So I uninstalled and reinstalled 5 and it worked. I have not tried rebooting with it left in, but I can confirm that once I updated to 10.13.5, the #5 update retained the setup. So cool! Keeping Beta #3 on hand as the fallback since that worked find since it was released, but #5 is good so far.

MacOS 10.13.5 is out! Has anyone tried if the old solid+stable driver for 10.13.3 and before returns to work in 10.13.5? Ironically, just today my system crashed and I have to reinstall the OS so I can't try myself, but it would be a helpful info in deciding whether to reinstall 10.13 or downgrade to macOS Sierra after all :)

I am asking myself if the DisplayLink team is doing a verification of different possible known use cases before they release a new SW!?
I was using the v4.3 beta4 with 3 displays on my macbook air (2015) in extended mode:
2 displays via Dell d6000 Displayports
1 display via macbook thunderboltwhich was really a good workaround.
Now in v4.3 beta5 it is NOT working. I can use ONLY 2 displays because via Dell d6000 I get only mirror on 2 displays.
Are you verifying all known possible key use cases or ONLY ONE use case?

Today I installed beta5 on MacBook Pro 13" 2016 with 10.13.4. Worked very well with an external MB168+ extended: 1080p, no need to reboot to detect every time I plugged it. I took the plunge, updated to 10.13.5 and everything keeps working! Thanks!!! I still couldn't change the color profile, though...

I had one external extended display working under driver b5. Updated to OS 10.13.5 just now, and driver b5 still seems to work.
