Black screens on macOS High Sierra 10.13.4+ and Mojave 10.14 Early Previews
The driver (DisplayLink Installer 4.1.11) doesn't work anymore withe macOS High Sierra bêta 10.13.4 (17E139) and newer.
Dear DisplayLink macOS users,
We are pleased DisplayLink 5.0.1 driver for macOS enables multiple extended display support on the latest Apple macOS 10.14.2 with additional features (clamshell and clone). We continue our strong support for the Mac platform and are working on delivering future updates with further performance improvements.
Driver 5.0.1: https://www.displaylink.com/downloads/file?id=1257
If your DisplayLink enabled device does not seem to work on 10.14, this is most likely due to the OS blocking our kernel extension. Please ensure our kernel extension is enabled by the OS as described in our FAQ: https://support.displaylink.com/knowledgebase/articles/1188004
Should you still miss extended displays on latest macOS with latest DisplayLink driver, please create a support ticket so your particular case can be investigated. Here is how: https://support.displaylink.com/knowledgebase/articles/755301
Due to changes in 10.13.4-10.13.6, it is not possible to enable DisplayLink extended displays, except one using Apple AirPlay. If your Mac is from 2011 running 10.13.4-10.13.6 and can’t update to macOS 10.14, you should remain with DisplayLink macOS driver v4.3.1 to enable one extended USB display using AirPlay, with additional displays cloned. An FAQ details how to enable Apple AirPlay with DisplayLink display for extend or mirror mode: https://support.displaylink.com/knowledgebase/articles/1854724
Audio and Ethernet functionality, where supported, stays unaffected in all versions.
We thank you for your feedback on DisplayLink products that helps us further improve our product offering.
Kind regards,
Alban

I need a 1600 by 900 resolution for my monitor to work and this "Airplay FIX" doesn't allow this. Please help if possible.

It occurs to me that Apple has little incentive to fix this problem as it extends the life of older macs while not adding much value to the newer models. This technology enables external monitors added via USB which is most necessary in older Macs. The newer Macs already have the ability to add at least two external monitors through the Thunderbolt 2 port. I hope Display Link is successful as I have no interest in updating my Mac at this time. But I'm worried this will never get fixed.

@ the PM from Display-Link
although I'm suffering from this very disappointing situation, I would be interested to know what the technical background or reason is. What did Apple do? Or what did DisplayLink didn't do to avoid? This maybe makes it easier to understand the situation..

Wow I bought my displaylink dock 5 months ago for $500 and now it's just an ethernet and usb hub. One of the worst computer peripheral purchase decisions I have ever made.

Just my luck only have one device that's up to that version, unfortunately, it's the worst person this could happen to.

We have many developers in our organization and this loss of functionality has been more than disruptive. We are looking to replace all current devices that use the DisplayLink driver unless an update comes out relatively soon.
DisplayLink please step it up and get an update out that restores this functionality!!!

This is utterly frustrating but Apple has been known to have a mindset to not support any third party peripherals. It's a bummer that my $250 display link docking station is "almost" worthless. Why I say almost is because all my other peripherals (keyboards, external hard drives, ethernet, backup drives, etc.) still work while connected to the docking station. I am simply using another USB-C port to connect external monitors. Works for now. just plugging into three USB-C ports instead of one and having additional USB-C to HDMI converters (~$15 each). Hope they find some solution soon. By what it looks like, the mojave OS is going to have the same problems.

It's been 70 days and we can't use our equipment. Any kind of actual update would be the correct move here. Your "fix" is the same half measure Duet is using which means both products can't be used concurrently and unsurprisingly neither one works correctly. Time to start talking about refunds. I'd much rather have working equipment though. Having to be 2 OS releases back is not a reasonable solution.

The Airplay icon does not appear in the menu bar unless I manually start this program from a terminal window:
/Library/PrivilegedHelperTools/DisplayLink/airplay/DisplayLinkAirPlayBridge
I assume that I shouldn't have to start this process myself, so any idea of what should be happening and why it's not happening?
Also even once the airplay icon is available and I select DisplayLink, it *thinks* it's using the external monitor but nothing appears on the screen. The monitor is connected with HDMI but just sits there in power-save mode. The mouse seems to think there's a display because I can move it off-screen and it seems to go, but nothing actually shows on the monitor. This is frustrating because it feels like I'm close to getting it to work (all I want is ONE external monitor for now). Any ideas on what configuration might be wrong/missing?

Apple will make no change to the graphics via USB in MacOS 10.14 MOJAVE. The product Displaylink died for Mac. Just wonder why Displaylink does not want to admit it?

"Our team made solid progress towards finding a solution which would restore full extended display support for multiple DisplayLink displays in a future release of macOS."
What does this mean? Didn't we just have a release of macOS?

Anyone know if the Elgato Systems Thunderbolt 2 Dock will solve this problem? I know it's $150, but I don't see another solution on the horizon. I have a mid-2012 Macbook Pro.

I just think it's sad when you are customer and receive no customer service or support for a product you bought. after 5 months i've receive no email stating what is going on and exactly when the issue will be fixed.
