Black screens on macOS High Sierra 10.13.4+ and Mojave 10.14 Early Previews
The driver (DisplayLink Installer 4.1.11) doesn't work anymore withe macOS High Sierra bêta 10.13.4 (17E139) and newer.
Dear DisplayLink macOS users,
We are pleased DisplayLink 5.0.1 driver for macOS enables multiple extended display support on the latest Apple macOS 10.14.2 with additional features (clamshell and clone). We continue our strong support for the Mac platform and are working on delivering future updates with further performance improvements.
Driver 5.0.1: https://www.displaylink.com/downloads/file?id=1257
If your DisplayLink enabled device does not seem to work on 10.14, this is most likely due to the OS blocking our kernel extension. Please ensure our kernel extension is enabled by the OS as described in our FAQ: https://support.displaylink.com/knowledgebase/articles/1188004
Should you still miss extended displays on latest macOS with latest DisplayLink driver, please create a support ticket so your particular case can be investigated. Here is how: https://support.displaylink.com/knowledgebase/articles/755301
Due to changes in 10.13.4-10.13.6, it is not possible to enable DisplayLink extended displays, except one using Apple AirPlay. If your Mac is from 2011 running 10.13.4-10.13.6 and can’t update to macOS 10.14, you should remain with DisplayLink macOS driver v4.3.1 to enable one extended USB display using AirPlay, with additional displays cloned. An FAQ details how to enable Apple AirPlay with DisplayLink display for extend or mirror mode: https://support.displaylink.com/knowledgebase/articles/1854724
Audio and Ethernet functionality, where supported, stays unaffected in all versions.
We thank you for your feedback on DisplayLink products that helps us further improve our product offering.
Kind regards,
Alban

Works well if you know what you are doing and wait for things to load. It is not instant..... Read the instructions....

Just a heads up if any in using MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid 2012) and using the ClimaxDigital CUH350D USB 3.0 to DVI,VGA,HDMI Adaptor for Multiple Monitors - DisplayLink DL-3500 Chipset.
When I updated to macOS High Sierra 10.13.4 to 10.13.5 it stopped working again.
So this is what I did to get it working again.1. Unistall DisplayLink driver
2. Restart
3 Download the latest Displaylink driver 4.3 beta 5 and Install.
4 Restart
5 Plug in the usb 3.0 adapter and display link appeared in the AirPlay Display dropdown.
6 Go into Arrangement to turn off Mirror Displays and it worked
7 Then used the Thunderbolt 1 to connect to another monitor but also had to turn off Mirror Displays the first time only.So atm I got 2 full monitors and the in-built display working. Hope this helps anyone with a similar mac.
I keep an eye and see how I get on.

"Our team made solid progress towards finding a solution which would restore full extended display support for multiple DisplayLink displays in a future release of macOS."
What sort of progress? Why "a future release of macOS?" - is there anything around this that is OpenSource? A community solution might be desirable here.
What's most cost-effective? Waiting months for a fix from Dell, or buying products that actually work, that are not Dell?
This DisplayLink box is now just an overpriced, under-utilized power adapter sitting on my desk :(

above solution works the first time after installing 4.3 beta, but it fails the consecutive attempts and it is really frustration that i had to reinstall for it to work again.

So first off, the fix you guys posted doesn't work. I get the airplay icon in the tray but no options appear. Secondly, this has been a problem for, what, 4 months ... Do you guys have no mac specialists? Lastly, I registered to get updates on this situation and you guys keep sending the same information as if it was an update, seriously frustrating!

Is there a place we can sign up to get updates on this issue? It good that you are still working on it, but this device is critical and I need to know the moment a true fix is available.

Well it just about works over airplay, but causes a lot of lagging and inaccuracy most of the time.
Annoying also to be unable to switch it off, just keeps coming back on unless i uninstall it completely. And did. Won't install it back on until a proper fix is announced, not just a crappy airplay workaround. If DL feels the task to be too overwhelming why not just admit it and refund, otherwise this is just a pathetic time play.
And what comes to apple, arrogant bastards who make these decisions just to make more capital. Perhaps a Hackintosh would be the safest decision to have a usable device without upgrading every two years...

Hi,
Im trying to apply a Colour Profile to the Extended Screen, But the Mac will not allow me to.
It will allow me to extend the desktop and the applications, but it will not allow me to Assign a Colour Profile. If i plug the screen into a single Fire-wire to HDMI, it allows me to assign the colour profile... But when i plug the Display link device is plugged in again, it reverts back to the standard Apple Profile.

Hi Alban,
The thread mentions the DisplayLinkUserAgent accessibility dialogue. However the installer restarts (os x 10.13.5) there is no DisplayLinkUserAgent accessibility dialogue. The installer of v4.3beta5 seems to not have placed a DisplayLinkUserAgent in the accessibility section of security > privacy > accessibility.
Do you have any suggestions?

OK I got beta 5 working on 10.13.5. I think the key for me was to uninstall the previous (or all DL) drivers and reinstall and reboot of course. Once I did that my airplay drop down had all the options and my primary and two additional displays could each present unique content, not just mirroring. I have a a 5K iMac 2017. Connected using a usb 3 port off the back of my iMac (Not the USB -C port)

Also with the new USB-C/TB3 you can daisy chain, for example. Plug one monitor to the next etc. So it's moving in the right direction can't fault apple on that but would have been nice if they didn't switch the longer loyal customers.
Feels like when the government told us all diesel powered cars was the ones to buy and then they hiked the tax up on it and then then 5 years later stated diesel is bad practice and they need to get them all off the road and switch everyone to electric cars. hope that helps

Basically Wandas their chipset relies on the MST protocol. Apple didn't even deprecated it as is common in software, Apple obliterated it on the basis that it doesn't intend to support VOU as their shinny TB3/USB-C is what they are now hedging their money on. For users with USB-C/TB3 you can avoid DL altogether and use the native Display Adaptor. You can extend as much as you like depending on how you split the USB-C signal and how much power is sent. So yes in a sense having an up-to-date mac helps but for us TB2/USB3 users this is a problem. one that wont go away. If you looking to split multiple screens you need to look into USB-C/TB3 powered devices which uses apples native driver.

@scott. 100% agree. we discussed this earlier on this thread. The entire point of this is for old generation to upgrade. however, DL does have to answer to us. because they state it's their tech and their chipset. which i find extremely had to believe after 5 months of debate and continued non updates and lack of customer service.

Im using an Asus mb169b+ usb second monitor and none of these patches are working at all. This monitor has been useless for months now. So disappointing . I tried the Beta 4 and 5. I have tried to manually start the airplay bridge. I have tried everything every time i try to launch the display link app it says the application is not open anymore. Seems crazy that this is taking so long to fix. ;-(
