Black screens on macOS High Sierra 10.13.4+ and Mojave 10.14 Early Previews
The driver (DisplayLink Installer 4.1.11) doesn't work anymore withe macOS High Sierra bêta 10.13.4 (17E139) and newer.
Dear DisplayLink macOS users,
We are pleased DisplayLink 5.0.1 driver for macOS enables multiple extended display support on the latest Apple macOS 10.14.2 with additional features (clamshell and clone). We continue our strong support for the Mac platform and are working on delivering future updates with further performance improvements.
Driver 5.0.1: https://www.displaylink.com/downloads/file?id=1257
If your DisplayLink enabled device does not seem to work on 10.14, this is most likely due to the OS blocking our kernel extension. Please ensure our kernel extension is enabled by the OS as described in our FAQ: https://support.displaylink.com/knowledgebase/articles/1188004
Should you still miss extended displays on latest macOS with latest DisplayLink driver, please create a support ticket so your particular case can be investigated. Here is how: https://support.displaylink.com/knowledgebase/articles/755301
Due to changes in 10.13.4-10.13.6, it is not possible to enable DisplayLink extended displays, except one using Apple AirPlay. If your Mac is from 2011 running 10.13.4-10.13.6 and can’t update to macOS 10.14, you should remain with DisplayLink macOS driver v4.3.1 to enable one extended USB display using AirPlay, with additional displays cloned. An FAQ details how to enable Apple AirPlay with DisplayLink display for extend or mirror mode: https://support.displaylink.com/knowledgebase/articles/1854724
Audio and Ethernet functionality, where supported, stays unaffected in all versions.
We thank you for your feedback on DisplayLink products that helps us further improve our product offering.
Kind regards,
Alban

Any updates for the pre-2011 folks who are tethered to High Sierra and cannot anticipate the Mojave fix? We cant use Airplay so still SOL even with the various workarounds

Just installed DisplayLink Software 4.3 Beta 5 on my MacBook Pro (2017) with macOS Mojave 10.14 beta, build 18A353d. There was no DisplayLink software installed since my last format/clean OS install. Works perfect using a HP 3005pr, connected via an Apple USB-C to USB Adapter. It took about a minute to recognize my screens first time, but that's OK and normal. Hope a fix for users of High Sierra will follow, especially for those who can't upgrade later this year.

This is getting to be too long. Any patch or workaround? It's August.

When will multiple monitor support come back with OS 10.13.6 on the Mac. Its unbelievable that a patch has not already fixed this!

"experiencing black external displays with only the mouse cursor even after reinstalling the driver"
Is there a workaround for that issue?

Running 10.14 Beta (18A353d) on MBP 2018 15" and it is not working with DL Driver 4.3 Beta 5. Any advice?
Screens are detected but only show cursor, no windows or anything. -

Confirmed dual external monitor is working on Mojave beta 6 as well.

I followed the instructions but found out what I thought was 10.14 preview 5 was actually preview 4. When I fixed that by obtaining preview 5, and installing t5eh 4.3 beta 5, voila! Have extended display back on my Macbook Air. One other caveat, after doing that, you have to enable the Mac to use the displaylink script. Otherwise, black screen.

Just upgraded from 10.13 to the Mojave on the 2017 MP and the display link is working again on the duo 23" displays (MP is shut, ie, not using the built-in screen ). Thank you DisplayLink team.

With fourth public beta of Mojave (it's the same as fifth developer beta) combined with DisplayLink driver v4.3 beta 5, I can confirm having working displays again.
At least for now, limited to three external displays, but trying to get my fourth one working as well.

Hello, I have a 2018 MacBook Pro 15" with Core i9, I have upgraded the system to Mojave beta 5 but it seems that the driver doesn't work at all.

Can anyone on the Mojave preview confirm is screen rotation is working again with displaylink? If not I will hold off upgrading since that is a necessity for me.

Hello, if you have DisplayLink 4.3 beta 5 with Mojave Preview 4 (Beta 5) and are experiencing black external displays with only the mouse cursor even after reinstalling the driver, please create a ticket with your logs as described in https://support.displaylink.com/knowledgebase/articles/755301. We don't have the reproduction internally to analyse yet so logs are necessary to give hints on what could be going wrong.

And for those noticing that they can only mirror and the resolution is not adapting to the new screen: we've noticed that AirPlay is interrupting DisplayLink's workaround. If you turn wi-fi off before you plug in, the DisplayLink driver will connect properly; you can then use the AirPlay menu in the notifications area near the clock to use it as an extended screen. (You can turn wi-fi on afterwards.)
Make sure that a) the DisplayLink driver has been authorised as a system extension in the Security and Privacy system preferences screen, and that the DisplayLinkUserAgent has been approved in the Privacy > Accessibility tab of the same screen. -

For all of you on 10.13.6 who are having problems with the v4.3 beta 5 not working with airplay, I followed the tip from Anonymous 7/31 @10:27 and went into system preferences/security/general and checked for software blocked from loading. Sure enough DisplayLink was listed there and as soon as I unblocked it and did a restart the USB display showed up in airplay and worked perfectly. I'm on a late 2012 MacMini I7 2.6 quad core.
