Black screens on macOS High Sierra 10.13.4+ and Mojave 10.14 Early Previews
The driver (DisplayLink Installer 4.1.11) doesn't work anymore withe macOS High Sierra bêta 10.13.4 (17E139) and newer.
Dear DisplayLink macOS users,
We are pleased DisplayLink 5.0.1 driver for macOS enables multiple extended display support on the latest Apple macOS 10.14.2 with additional features (clamshell and clone). We continue our strong support for the Mac platform and are working on delivering future updates with further performance improvements.
Driver 5.0.1: https://www.displaylink.com/downloads/file?id=1257
If your DisplayLink enabled device does not seem to work on 10.14, this is most likely due to the OS blocking our kernel extension. Please ensure our kernel extension is enabled by the OS as described in our FAQ: https://support.displaylink.com/knowledgebase/articles/1188004
Should you still miss extended displays on latest macOS with latest DisplayLink driver, please create a support ticket so your particular case can be investigated. Here is how: https://support.displaylink.com/knowledgebase/articles/755301
Due to changes in 10.13.4-10.13.6, it is not possible to enable DisplayLink extended displays, except one using Apple AirPlay. If your Mac is from 2011 running 10.13.4-10.13.6 and can’t update to macOS 10.14, you should remain with DisplayLink macOS driver v4.3.1 to enable one extended USB display using AirPlay, with additional displays cloned. An FAQ details how to enable Apple AirPlay with DisplayLink display for extend or mirror mode: https://support.displaylink.com/knowledgebase/articles/1854724
Audio and Ethernet functionality, where supported, stays unaffected in all versions.
We thank you for your feedback on DisplayLink products that helps us further improve our product offering.
Kind regards,
Alban

@PB I also work in a corporate environment and have been dealing with this for months now after my system was updated to 10.13.4. I was evaluating this dock to see if it would be a good fit for our other mac users and then this happened.
Currently, I'm using the airplay option with the dock for one monitor and a USBC to Displayport cable for the other. I'm about to change to just two USBC cables because the resolution on the airplay monitor is terrible.
They actually sent me an email some time ago telling me that due to this issue they were going to give me a discount on another one of their products. Why on earth would I want to give them MORE money for something that could just as easily stop working???

So things are getting more weird.. Previous comment was about using BETA 5 drivers on Mojave BETA.
Realized there is a BETA 6 driver version.1) Uninstalled BETA 5 drivers, reboot, install BETA 6 drivers
-> Display workds again in AirPlay mode (1080p or some other irrelevant resolutions)
2) Tried to uninstall & install several times with BETA 6 drivers
-> Nothing changed
3) Get annoyed and uninstalled BETA 6 drivers, reboot, install BETA 5 drivers
-> Display now works again in "usual" mode just like directly after the installation of Mojave BETA.
So for the time being (I hope I won't get forced to reboot soon), I'll stay with BETA 5 drivers for my display running as a usual display in correct/native resolution (2560x1440)

Installed Mojave BETA yesterday, my display (via USB to DP) came back to life.
Rebooted today, display stays black, although it detects a signal... de- & installed drivers, rebooted twice, display stays in that black-but-signal mode. -

Again no updates? Any rough ETA on versions from Microsoft?

It is the same with 10.13.6, only one monitor supported with shitty resolution.

Ah, another reason I can't risk upgrading yet... Mojave dropped support for 32-bit applications apparently. That's too much of a minefield to dive into on a Friday. :)

So... basically nobody is fixing High Sierra. I'm working in a corporate environment, so beta upgrading to Mojave isn't really on the cards for me - all the corp-stuff will explode and nobody will have a clue how to support Mojave until 2020 if I had to guess.
I updated recently to 10.13.6 to get the latest Safari that supports sendBeacon and boom, two monitors explode. So my workflow has taken a serious punch to the throat.
Latest beta driver is three months old and only works on one screen via AirPlay - and without rotation. So that's not really much use to me either.
Apple killing displays over USB and claiming it 'wasn't a real feature' is a middle finger to their dock manufacturers. Someone's gotta have an idea if something is or isn't going to get fixed instead of just 'working on it' six months after the issue first happened :/

You are lying Displaylink! I am on Mojave 10.14 beta and your lates driver does NOT work with my USB3 to Displayport or USB3 to DVI adapters produced by you! Give us a real fix! I have been waiting for you to solve this for months now so if you don't fix it shortly I just want to know where to send these useless adapters to get my money back.

Unfortunately within my company we are not able to upgrade to Mojave yet. And have installed the Beta version on my MacBook Pro running 10.13.6 but find the the software not working as it should.
When connecting to external screen and laptop lid open it duplicates on 1 screen and extend on the other. I am not able to use both as extended screens and the resolution on the duplicated screen is crapy. When closing the laptop lid; the screen resolustion adjusts however I'm only able to get 1080p instead of 4K on 1 of the monitors.Hope you come with a solution for High Sierra and not focus only on Mojave as it can probably still take some time before we moving over to the new OS.

You might as well add to your support section that your products only works will Mojave 10.14 and newer because it looks like High Sierra is out of your scope now.

DisplayLink Beta was installed in MacBook Pro OS High Sierra. After the installation was completed DisplayLink works. Next day when I connect the system to a Dell 6000 docking station. DisplayLink unable to connect and the only option that I got is only mirroring. I got like 50 users with MacBooks and Dell 6000 docking station in my environment. I try the whole process again but still the same.

Make Displaylink Great Again commented
Okay, since nobody else is responding to everyone who is asking when Displaylink will have a fix for 10.13.4/systems that can't update to Mojave:
1) Apple removed support for Displaylink in 10.13.4. Displaylink has repeatedly said in their updates that they are working on a fix for a *future* version of macOS. Without Apple, I don't think any further fixes from Displaylink are possible for High Sierra.
2) Someone posting in the technical forum mentioned something that I think nails it:
"I feel like one thing missing from this discussion of it now working with the Mac OS X 10.14 beta:--- Its the DisplayLink Beta 5 (released 1 1/2 months ago) that is now working in 10.14 ---
That means that DisplayLink has had their side done for a while, and it required Apple to do their side to make it all work again.
***It also means that Apple could backport those fixes to 10.13 and make it work as well, but they probably have no interest in it.***
I totally get all of the complaining that the hardware stopped working, and the complaints about the fix being slow, but I appreciate whatever must have had to happen behind the scenes to get Apple to do their part."
tl;dr - Apple broke support in 10.13.4. It seems to be on the way to being fixed in 10.14. Only Apple has the ability to restore functionality in 10.13.x, but that almost certainly won't happen. Either find another solution for your external displays, or go through the pain in the @$$ process to restore your system to an older version of the os.
