Black screens on macOS High Sierra 10.13.4+ and Mojave 10.14 Early Previews
The driver (DisplayLink Installer 4.1.11) doesn't work anymore withe macOS High Sierra bêta 10.13.4 (17E139) and newer.
Dear DisplayLink macOS users,
We are pleased DisplayLink 5.0.1 driver for macOS enables multiple extended display support on the latest Apple macOS 10.14.2 with additional features (clamshell and clone). We continue our strong support for the Mac platform and are working on delivering future updates with further performance improvements.
Driver 5.0.1: https://www.displaylink.com/downloads/file?id=1257
If your DisplayLink enabled device does not seem to work on 10.14, this is most likely due to the OS blocking our kernel extension. Please ensure our kernel extension is enabled by the OS as described in our FAQ: https://support.displaylink.com/knowledgebase/articles/1188004
Should you still miss extended displays on latest macOS with latest DisplayLink driver, please create a support ticket so your particular case can be investigated. Here is how: https://support.displaylink.com/knowledgebase/articles/755301
Due to changes in 10.13.4-10.13.6, it is not possible to enable DisplayLink extended displays, except one using Apple AirPlay. If your Mac is from 2011 running 10.13.4-10.13.6 and can’t update to macOS 10.14, you should remain with DisplayLink macOS driver v4.3.1 to enable one extended USB display using AirPlay, with additional displays cloned. An FAQ details how to enable Apple AirPlay with DisplayLink display for extend or mirror mode: https://support.displaylink.com/knowledgebase/articles/1854724
Audio and Ethernet functionality, where supported, stays unaffected in all versions.
We thank you for your feedback on DisplayLink products that helps us further improve our product offering.
Kind regards,
Alban

Thank you so much! Ever since I downloaded Mac OS 10.13.6, I've only been able to mirror my external display instead of extending it. I have no need for mirroring and bought the external monitor to give me more real-estate on my screen. I was very frustrated that my external AOC display was useless with the "upgrade" to High Sierra. Now, with the new DisplayLink v4.3 beta, it's working again. It's greatly appreciated!

Just updated from High Sierra 10.13.4 to Mojave 10.14 public beta 9 18A377a and DisplayLink USB3 to DVI is now working perfectly again on my mid-2012 Mac Mini with three displays. Thanks for sticking with this and getting it going again.
The real solution to all of this is the Thunderbolt 3 / USB-C MBPs. I run mine with three external displays plus the internal with no USB display adapters required and no problems getting the monitors to reconnect after disconnecting.

I'd like to report that after loading macOS High Sierra 10.13.6 Supplemental Update 2 for MacBook Pro (2018), my mirrored external monitor is now displaying at a better resolution than before. The extended monitor didn't change. While this update does not bring back full compatibility for DisplayLink, it does seem to improve the experience, which I choose to see as a positive thing for 10.13.6 users with MacBook Pros.

@budsygus Rolling back to an earlier version of OSX is only possible for computers that do support 10.13.3. The newer macbooks for instance do not.
And what everybody is complaining about here is the very poor handling of all this by DisplayLink. I ordered my docks months after the issue appeared, and the product page was still listing the dock as compatible with OSX, and I was never offered a refund after it became clear that this dock was very far from working with my macbook (I'm on the latest Mojave beta, and the driver is still broken)

Has anyone considered that what Apple changed made full DisplayLink support literally impossible? I get that people paid money for their docks, just like I did. BUT, rather than complaining, just roll back to an earlier version of MacOS. 10.13.3 works perfectly. Apple obviously has no interest in helping fix this problem and the DisplayLink team seems to be doing everything they can with what Apple left for them. This is basically an ice vendor in a snowstorm. Don't get mad at the ice vendor that the ice you bought isn't worth much anymore. Either move to a warmer climate (roll back to 10.13.3) or wait until Spring (Mojave). We can't expect miracles when a major tech company breaks functionality.

Guys forget High Sierra, support for DL will be back in Mojave. With new MacOs around the corner I don't think they will lose their time on High Sierra. Hold tight, one month to go....

Hi there commented
To set the record straight: Apple has no obligation to this or other companies in ensuring compatibility. Quite the opposite.
Same as buying a gas station charger, you got what you paid for. Call Apple, they’ll tell you the same.
What’s here is an opportunity for small and large companies to learn how not to handle a major issue. Also on these boards, as much as they are deleted, are calls for class action: keep fighting for this, it’s entirely applicable to this situation.
I would contact this board administrators boss- let them know it’s a circus in here and get an answer as to why things are being handled as such and without any apology or intent to reimburse for losses.

Nobody - stop being so lame. DisplayLink have a product that rides on Apple tech bu they advertise otherwise.
I understand how hard it must be for DisplayLink, however, DisplayLink have a duty of care in the way they advertise their products. Did you know they ride on unsupported work-arounds?
What I do agree with is that people should stop whining. When all this started, I went and spent $100 on two apple HDMI adapters. Monitors back instantly. How anyone that uses their machines and screens for more than home use can still be complaining after all this time, really need to look at their usage and IT setup, even if you are an IT guy with 100 Mac users. Bad choice dude. -

People who keep whining at DisplayLink would do well to checkout this other USB2DVI vendor having the SAME problems with High Sierra 10.13.6. It's NOT DisplayLink's fault but Apple's.

I'm using Mojave here. Totally updated. Downloaded this Beta 5 driver and just doesn't work. Why? It worked just fine with 10.11 El Capitan fully updated (with the appropriate drive version, off course), but since with High Sierra latest update it won't work, then I installed the Mojave Beta but just won't work. Any help?

There are several errors that make me wonder how you can say full support is restored.
HDCP is not supported, I can't watch movies on Netflix or iTunes or Amazon.
Java does not work correctly when using the device (Netbeans, Java configuraton, and more)
Amazon kindle does not workI've verified that this is due to the displaylink device and not the beta of Mojave by running with my monitors directly connected to usb-c and through the displaylink dock.
To say I'm frustrated is an understatement. I bought the dock as a way of easily switching between my work machine and home machine. It has not worked since I bought it because I was already upgraded prior to purchase and unable to revert.
When will the actual fix be made available?
I know I will likely never buy another displaylink product again because this is not the first time your devices have suddenly stopped working, and the solution was to go out and by a new device supported by newer software. Unfortunately, the dock I bought never mentioned it was displaylink. So I feel double stupid.

Here's what infuriating about this company's response: they have never once even hinted at taking responsibility for the problem.
It's always:
"Corporate speak, blah blah, meaningless data about the specific versions that STILL do not work, blah blah"
Never:
"We apologize for this inconvenience which, while we could not have foreseen it, we realize affects you, our valued customer".Or:
"Please provide proof of purchase and we will send you an INTERIM SOLUTION THAT ADDRESSES YOUR PROBLEM AND ALLOWS YOU TO USE YOUR MONITORS. If we cannot fix the problem within 12 months return the unit to us and we will refund your money"Your behavior only builds ill will towards your company.
This is a good example for other executives on how not to deal with a problem.

Here is a alternative method using a thunderbolt dock to connect two displays up to 4k. Looks like cost is under $100. Available now.
