Support rotation on M1 Macs
Update to enable rotation to work correctly on M1 Macs.
DisplayLink Manager 1.6 or newer (https://synaptics.com/products/displaylink-graphics/downloads/macos) on macOS 12 Monterey now enables display rotation on Apple M1 computers (details in https://support.displaylink.com/knowledgebase/articles/1984314 )
For issues with this new functionality, please reach out to Technical-Enquiries@Synaptics.com so the team can investigate through a technical support ticket.

Yes, universal binary with native support for both Intel and Apple M1 is planned for DisplayLink Manager 1.3 currently in final tests.

Any update when rotation on big sur with apple m1 chip is available?
I will gladly buy more displayport adapters if rotation worked.

Is DisplayLink actively working on a native driver(compiled for Apple Silicon)? If so, is there an anticipated release timeframe?

DisplayLink Manager requires a product with DisplayLink technology to be functional. DisplayLink Manager will not recognised or cannot change the characteristics of a Thunderbolt or a DisplayPort Alternate-Mode product on an Apple M1 computer.
A list of multiple display products with DisplayLink technology is available from: https://www.displaylink.com/products/find?num=2 -

I have the same question about monitor rotation with the Apple M1 Mac Book's. Any ETA on when this might be available. Thank you.

DisplayLinkUser agent 1.2 is currently intel architecture. Please, please... AS native code on the M1 instead of intel !!!

I have a new M1 Macbook 2021, and multiple monitor is not an option by default. I bought a Saferell port hub with dual monitor ports, and it does not work on both. It can do one or the other, but not both. I have version 1.2 of the Displaylink adapter, with it set for screen recording (Through the privacy & settings control panel), and it does not show an available adapter. So you will need some extras to make dual external monitors happen. I'm just using one monitor and my laptop on a special hanging stand. Works fine.
Here is a video of a guy who did it. You'll need a separate multi-port box and some adapter plugs, but it can be done: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kq_FyjcAULA

I am using DisplayLink Manager v1.2 on M1 Mac OS Big Sur 1.1, and screen rotation doesn't work for 1 of the monitors.
Is there any update on this? -

I'm with Martin here. I currently have the new 13" Macbook Pro M1 chip (which I know has been causing fits and Apple should allow more than 1 external monitor), but given DisplayLink works great for the monitor, not being able to rotate my monitor 90 or 180 degrees is a HUGE buzzkill when I was so close to the light at the end of the tunnel. This would be EPIC if this could be fixed like the older versions. PLEASE HELP US HUNG OUT TO DRY BY APPLE!

Thanks a lot to Whomever rote the comment in October 20, 2020 with the steps to fix the issue (below)... it worked perfectly! I do have MacOs 10.15.7 Catalina ... The only extra things I had to do were
1) Uninstall DisplayLink previous version
2) Reboot and restart your docking station (I have a startech.com)
3) Quit any 3rd party tool you might have for Monitor management (I have "Display Menu")
4) Follow the below process, and wait for reboot to happen after the installation. It could take more than 5 min and it could looks like nothing is happening but DO NOT TURN OFF your computer.========= ORIGINAL POST ==============
After 2 hours of troubleshooting, I finally was able to get rotation working on Catalina 10.15.5. My setup is 3 externals, 1 ultrawide as main and 2 smaller screens left and right. I have my left screen in portrait orientation.
1) Install Legacy driver 5.2.5 https://www.displaylink.com/downloads/file?id=1636
2) Restart
3) For me, I had to unplug and replug power of dock to get Dell D6000 dock to recognize all 3 externals
4) If for some reason System preferences is already open, CLOSE IT
5) Move your mouse to the screen that you want to rotate
6) On -that- screen, Apple Icon -> System preferences
7) Hold down Option + CMD keys and click 'Displays' in the System preferences
8) You should then see the 'Rotate' option -only- on the dialog on the screen that actually opened 'Displays' from System Preferences.TLDR: The rotate option only seems to show on the screen that is actually opening system preferences -> Displays.
Really painful to figure this out but it works for me.

Similar issues previously noted. I'm using MacBook Pro, M1 Chip, and BigSur v11.1. If it's useful, I also have a dual monitor setup with two Dell P2715Q
Everything went haywire for me when I tried to rotate one of the monitors with the v1.2.0 build. I've uninstalled then reinstalled a few times now.
Each time the Macbook screen flickers, then takes me back to the login Login Window. It closes any/all open apps as well.
Any tips?

Hello Johannes, the Plugable UD-CAM does not use DisplayLink technology and DisplayLink Manager works with DisplayLink chips. We recommend you liaise with Plugable for assistance.
