    Just to add to my comment from last July for anyone else still struggling with the Linux driver (why have DisplayLink not made ANY comment on this issue?!)

    I found that just using the DisplayLink dock for mouse, keyboard and power and plugging the monitors directly into the laptop reduced CPU usage back down to less that 1% instead of the consistent 100-200%, so the issue appears to be solely with the way the driver is handling the displays. It does of course make the dock almost completely useless, but at least my laptop is not overheating and freezing every few minutes.

    Same issue. Thinkpad X1 Carbon 6th. Mainly occurs following input from USB connected peripherals, if I move the mouse the DisplayLinkManager process shoots up to 100% CPU.
