    A few quick things to try: update the DisplayLink driver to the latest version, disable “Put hard disks to sleep” in Energy Settings, and try preventing system sleep (only allow display sleep). If it still happens, it’s likely a firmware/adapter limitation, unfortunately pretty common with VGA + DisplayLink setups.
