Have a rotating option for macOS 10.15 Catalina
There should be a driver where you have an option to rotate the screen for use on both sides. The Display monitor can only go on one side for Mac and it sucks because you should be able to use rotation for how you want your screen to be.
Rotation on macOS 10.15 Catalina is available via the classic driver available in the download section, in Legacy Releases.
DisplayLink Manager app v1.1+ offers rotation on macOS 11 Big Sur onwards.

Is there a technical reason macOS Catalina can't rotate Asus monitors?

I got M1 Catalina working with legacy driver 5.2.5, but the performance is pretty terrible, even for productivity tasks. It's like working on remote desktop. It helped a bit lowering my refresh rate to 24hz. Anything else we can do to help?
Here are instructions from older comment that helped me out:
1) Install Legacy driver 5.2.5 https://www.displaylink.com/downloads/file?id=1636
2) Restart
3) For me, I had to unplug and replug power of dock to get Dell D6000 dock to recognize all 3 externals
4) If for some reason System preferences is already open, CLOSE IT
5) Move your mouse to the screen that you want to rotate
6) On -that- screen, Apple Icon -> System preferences
7) Hold down Option + CMD keys and click 'Displays' in the System preferences
8) You should then see the 'Rotate' option -only- on the dialog on the screen that actually opened 'Displays' from System Preferences. -

If only the horrible lag would be fixed with the rotated screen on Catalina.

Got a new work laptop (Catalina 10.15.7 ) today and same prob, no rotation on my (2) external monitors. (Main monitor has the option). Followed Karlo's advice below and it finally worked:
Uninstalled DisplayLink Manager v1.1
Downloaded and install "Legacy Release" DisplayLink USB Graphics Software for macOS
Release: 5.2.5 13 - Aug 2020
Good luck! -

@Alban the rotation works with legacy software but the rotated screen lags and the mouse becomes un-useable. Any workaround for it?

I purchased this to extend my iMac and allow me to open portrait-oriented text files. The screen is pretty much a waste of money for me without this.

is this being reviewed to allow rotation on the attached monitors not just main display ?

What is the reason behind the fact you didn't add rotation support for secondary monitor for Catalina? At least it should be in the Know issues and limitations of release notes.

Release notes for DisplayLink macOS Build: 1.1.91 (671a2c0) state:
- No support for rotated DisplayLink screens in macOS Catalina 10.15.x
but
- Screen rotation is now available in macOS 11.0 Big Sur Public Beta. Why would you add screen rotation to an OS that's not GA yet, when clearly 95%+ are still on Catalina 10.15 with no rotation support? :/
yes, the Ctl+Opt is only for the main screen -

This was working before (Mojave, old drivers). Installed Catalina and new Mac OS app and woops no more support for the rotation screen... this is annoying.
