Fix glitching mouse pointer in Ubuntu/Arch/Debian
Hi,
I've tried the DisplayLink driver using the recommended os (Ubuntu 16.04). After connecting a secondary display (1080p) using USB-C, I had a trail of blinking mouse pointers following the real one and all the animations started glitching.
When moving the mouse over any Window except the Desktop, there would be a glitching square (about double the edge length of the mouse pointer sprite) containing the desktop background around the mouse pointer.
I've also tried Arch Linux (using the AUR package) and Debian 9 (Using the Ubuntu package) and they show the exact same behavior.
On the three operating systems, I've tried Kernel versions 4.19 and 4.20, both having the same issues.
I have a Thinkpad P1 with a Xeon E-2176M CPU (Intel UHD Graphics P630) and a Nvidia Quatro P2000 Mobile (GP107GLM). I suspect this to be an error related to the hardware I'm using; partially because I tried different operating systems and different kernel versions.

Same thing here with Ubuntu 19.10.
As soon as my other screen is connected trough the ThinkPad UltraDock i got this problem too.
@DisplayLink:
This is really, really annoying, especially when trying to copy/paste text because the part behind the mouse pointer is not updated and i can't see the actual selection highlighting.
Please provide a release with a fix soon! -

I also can confirm this issue on Ubuntu 19.10 on a Thinkpad X1 Carbon (HD Graphics 620) on kernel 5.3.0-42-generic.
Only happens when hot connecting a USB3.0 dock. Rebooting solves the issue...

I have the same issue.
It started on a clean Ubuntu 18.04 install and remained all the way through 18.10, 19.04 and 19.10. My coworkers with mostly the same setup also experience it: 4 identical Thinkpad T580 laptops (Intel Corporation UHD Graphics 620) with Nnvidia GeForce MX150, with the same docking stations, displays, OSes and drivers.
In the 18.x versions, it was pretty random but would usually be fixed by rebooting (not always though).
In 19.10, it happens almost every time I plug the USB-C docking station with two additional 1920x1080 displays *AFTER* Ubuntu was already started (or starting). However it never happens if the docking station was already connected during the Grub phase (so rebooting fixes the issue for me). The bug also occurs if boot my computer with the docker station already connected, then unplug it, and then plug it back on.

It is likely a circular buffer somewhere in the stack of display code for redrawing elements behind the mouse cursor that is failing to stop where it should.

I have found that adjusting the mouse speed (Settings->Devices->Mouse & Touchpad->Mouse Speed) changes the degree of irritation from the defect. I find the least irritation from having it set to the highest (fastest) setting. That's partly because I have a TrackPoint for a mouse. When the setting is towards the middle, you can end up with a big ugly trail of mouse pointers.

Seeing the same issue with Ubuntu 18.04.2 and 18.04.3 running gnome-session and kernel 4.15.0-54, but I am not seeing this issue with gnome-session-flashback.
Edit: I do not see this issue at all with initial/first release of Ubuntu, 18.04.0.
