Ubuntu drivers eating a lot of CPU. Not always but at least 50% of the times
I have actually a very slow PC because of this:
PID USER PR NI VIRT RES SHR S %CPU %MEM TIME+ COMMAND
1541 root 20 0 2343424 51804 2624 S 111.9 1.4 198:49.14 DisplayLinkMana
in other words, DisplayLinkMana(ger) eats a lot of CPU. from 50 to more than 100%
sometimes not.
I think this is an issue, that should be fixed.
Thank you.

Same issue here,
fresh install Ubuntu 19.10, Dell D6000 Dock with Dell E7450
Based on the reports below, the issue seem frequent, as has been around since 2017!

Given the age of this issue, the lack of response from DisplayLink is extremely poor.
For completeness: Issue persists on Ubuntu 18.04, Kernel 5.3.0-42, Intel Core i5-8250U (Kaby Lake R) with Lenovo 40AF0135UK USB-C dock. -

Just to add to my comment from last July for anyone else still struggling with the Linux driver (why have DisplayLink not made ANY comment on this issue?!)
I found that just using the DisplayLink dock for mouse, keyboard and power and plugging the monitors directly into the laptop reduced CPU usage back down to less that 1% instead of the consistent 100-200%, so the issue appears to be solely with the way the driver is handling the displays. It does of course make the dock almost completely useless, but at least my laptop is not overheating and freezing every few minutes.

The same issue. Lenovo Thinkpad T490, USB-C + USB+A Hybrid Docking Station (40AF0135EU), Ubuntu 19.10 with the latest (5.2) DP driver.
High CPU usage despite the activity, the system sometimes hangs during boot or when coming back from suspend.

Please fix these issues with your ubuntu drivers. I'm going to make sure that within my organization, we never touch another displaylink hardware ever again if this continues to remain the state of your drivers.

I have a 4 core, 8 thread i7 CPU for my laptop, and even when nothing is moving on display, it burns ~15% cpu per thread in htop on ubuntu 18.04 with DisplayLinkManager. If i try basic window navigation (just moving browser windows around), it goes up to around 30-50%. about three quarters of the CPU used appears to be in userspace. Note this is on a Dell D6000 dock driving 3 1080p displays through USB 3.1 Gen 1 and on a Dell Inspiron 13 7373.

Please fix this horrible bug or open source the code. I plan to move to another docking station if this is not fixed soon!

same issue here with ubuntu 19.04 with Dell 6000 Dock (High CPU).
CPU will jump even higher if the mouse is moved a lot.
Also persists when the mouse is connected directly to an other USB-Slot directly on the PC. -
