Clamshell works just with M1, rotation works with Intel.
Developing this very basic feature since '21 january and still in progress, without any further information.
This is a kind of sad joke.

I find it absurd that this is not supported. It's probably one of the most basic features of a display link?

Apparently Development is STILL in progress with a third party...only going on 10 months - maybe we can reach a YEAR before Alban Rampon provides an update - wonder how many of us will still have our docks by then?

This is so shameful that this issues has not been fixed since 2019??? I just purchased this docking station and it's kind of pointless, because I purchased it to use interchangeably with my MacBook and computers. It works great with the PC's but not with the MacBook Pro Retina 13" display mid 2014 model. I have a tiny desk so I purchased the docking station so that I could use the Mac in clamshell mode so it could be set to the side while I am working on my dual displays. Maybe we all need to blast DisplayLink on social media to get a faster response.

Thought I'd update to say that I decided to completely bail on my $350 DisplayLink dock. Went with a $70 Lention plug & play (no drivers needed) dock from Amazon and it's working like a charm, EVEN IN CLAMSHELL / CLOSED MODE!

I recommend you all do the same.

This company is a JOKE! 8 months and no update… they don’t care about their customers at all. This is not some random feature we are asking for here … we just want this now useless block of plastic to work!!
I went all the way back to Jan for comments and have not seen one update from Alban… wonder if he even works at Displaylink anymore?? I am a software developer and I’m pretty confident if I broke something and customers were upset and potentially leaving our company and still had no fix or any type of update after 8 months I probably would be let go… thanks for ignoring your customers Displaylink….

Not working as of today, I've installed version 1.5.0.

C'mon hurry up with the clamshell support for intel based devices!! This is a fundamental of using external monitors with a laptop.

I agree this is UNBELIEVABLE. What even makes it worse is that people here are finding workarounds - maybe they should go work for DisplayLink.

Obviously they (DisplayLink) either don't read these comments or just don't care as they can't even provide updates. Maybe we all should just stop buying DisplayLink docks - maybe that will get them on notice - I actually returned mine last week as it was just essentially a paperweight

Still have issue after upgrading to version 1.5.0.
I can close the lid but the display goes black after a minute. Comes back and goes black again a minute later. Unbelievable this is not fixed yet.

Thank you Valentin and Jared! This mirroring hack is working for me, the only issue is that I have to rerun the sudo pmset command every time my system is rebooted. It's absurd that they haven't fixed this after more than a year and a half of knowing of it and 9 months of supposedly working on it, but at least this is a functional workaround, albeit a bit of a pain in the ass.

For those looking for the hack:
1 - open terminal and run `sudo pmset -a disablesleep 1`
2 - dock or connect to your external monitors
3 - open the system Displays Preferences
4 - hold the `Alt` key and drag one of the external monitors on top of the Built-in Display
5 - you'll need to rerun the terminal command every time you reboot

This is absolutely ridiculous that this is an issue. I'll go back to my $25 connector I got an Amazon that let's me work with my macbook lid closed. The fact that this is something that clearly hasn't been fixed in 8 months (at least) seems like a cruel joke.

Finally got around to testing. I can confirm Valentin's suggestion below is a successful workaround for me (so far anyway).

I didn't realise you could selectively choose to only mirror one screen. In the Display preference, go to the Arrangement tab. Then hold the 'Alt' key on your keyboard and drag one of your external monitors onto the built in display.

Use `sudo pmset -a disablesleep 1` then mirror the built in Retina display to one of the two displays you want to use. you are going to close the lid anyway so just make one monitor mirror the laptop screen.
